County sheriff chris knocko tonight. This comes after someone tried to set a deputys home on fire. Candace mccowan is live with the story. Was anyone hurt candace . Reporter good evening. Thankfully, no one was injured. That deputy, though, was inside with his family including Young Children at the time. And that is the reason that sheriff chris is sending a strong message to anyone who threatens law enforcement. He goes im going out to get arrested. Reporter 30yearold Daniel Thomas hall was looking for trouble when he left his hudson home this morning. He is accused of breaking into cars before spotting this deputys take home vehicle in a home. He has a lighter and he keeps trying to light all the furniture on fire. As he lights it on fire, he knocks on the deputys door. Been with the Department Since 2007. He was in his home with his family with his gun drawn. Backup arriving minutes later finding hall on the deputys lawn. We are blessed. Thank god that Deputy Lennox is safe. His family is safe. Reporter the small fire was put out, but the sheriff made it clear anxiety among his deputies is high. He has a strong warning. Our deputies and their family members are absolutely going to be trained on how to protect themselves. And if that means using deadly force, so be it. Reporter one of halls neighbors telling us hall was not trying to hurt anyone. I know he has a lot of mental disabilities. Mental problems. I dont understand why he did what he did. But i hope he gets help. Reporter but others are standing up for law enforcement. Everyday. Yeah. Reporter and that fire could have been so much worse. They are telling us that the deputy had his Sprinkler System that was on earlier in the evening that kept the porch and preventing the fire from spreading. Keith . Am i hearing right . This is not the first time this month this deputy has been threatened . Reporter yeah. Just in the past few days, that deputy was out on assignment when someone actually drove their car toward him. He was not injured there. Took a few days off. But the sheriff has the strong warning for everyone. And we heard it. Im glad no one was hurt. Candace mccowan reporting live. But angry neighbors in the igor area say it is not being many residents attended the City Council Meeting to discuss their concerns with city leaders. Why is it that igor has almost 15 of all of the citys predatory People Living within a mile of our neighborhood . Reporter not only have they moved to the area, but they are living in clusters. A provision not allowed in the countys ordinance. At last check, there were more than 70 predators living in a quarter of a mile away from her house. The majority of them were clustered in a boardinghouse. Kellys neighbor betty is also concerned. Her granddaughters bus stop sits right next to several of these houses. You have almost 15 rooming houses and you dont know who are living in those houses. So we as parents feel it is a fear that one of those persons might be the wrong person. Reporter today, residents stormed the city council enforcing the countys code. Lisa monteleon said she had more than six offenders within five miles of her house. Where are they going to go . President barack obama plans to make a historic trip to cuba next month. He will be the first sitting president to visit cuba since 1928. The new cases are in miamidade county. There are 24 zika cases in florida at this point including three in hillsborough county. All patients got the virus overseas and none of them are pregnant. Pope francis had some advice for women at risk of getting the zika virus. He suggested they use contraception to avoid getting pregnant and having a child with birth defects. The zika cases have exploded across latin america and south america. Some have told women to avoid getting pregnant or get abortions. Catholic doctrine generally frowns on contraception. There were five people on board. Tours to the pearl harbor memorial have been canceled because of this crash. The ntsb has been notified.
