That is a look at the satellite imagery. You can see the storm at the southeast tip of cuba and you can look at the visible satellite image ray as well. You can see the clearly defined with land interaction. And 140 miles an hour winds gusting at this point. The forecast winds, the yellow being the Tropical Storm force wind gust primarily you can see coming around in the central portion of the area. The timing at the moment friday with the center of low pressure just off the east coast. Then, the european computer model which offers a different opinion, does move it over land. But, that doesnt mean that is what is going to happen. That is just the current opinion from the mp watch, especially inland areas. The western side of it would be the better side if you want to put it that way with the more violent weather on the eastern side of the storm. Not big showers and storms. There are a few lightning strikes across the southern sections of hillsborough county. The eastern parts of Pinellas County all moving off here to the west. Way. Chances are you look to the east and see good thundershowers there. Across the interior portions of the area, pretty quiet. Polk county, a few showers north of bradenton, northeast, and north of north port. A few showers east of avon park, sebring, and lake placid. The main cities there in 83 this evening got down to 90 degrees. A chance of showers still there over the next 24 hours and the rest of the evening. Temperatures will be mild. Humidity high. Deep atmospheric moisture showers can occur. Dew point of 72 degrees. 83 degrees in saint petersburg. The dew point very high 76 degrees. We hope that will change by the weekend. As you can see coming up in the eight day forecast, quite a bit of dry air back to the west of us aloft. Way of clouds, showers, or anything. The moisture taco tuesday little less deep than it was yesterday. We are not seeing showers in the same quantity as 24 hours ago. Hurricane shower in effect that doesnt affect the east coast all the way south through the northern portions of the florida keys, hurricane conditions could be there within 48 hours. That is on the east coast. This does not include the bay area. Or, any of the interior portions of the bay area. Theres a look at matthew. In case you missed this at the top hurricane warnings in place. That is colored in red. That goes down along the east coast. Not for the bay area. But, the timing and position of this, always difficult to do. This is the current thinking from the Hurricane Center. Thursday there at 2 00 p. M. With 130 miles an hour winds. Keeping in mind, this is the weak side of the storm. The advancing side on the eastern side. The stronger winds, not much of a storm surge worry with this on the western side, but still, strong wind gusts especially in some of the inland areas. Carolinas. We will have to wait and see in the final position of that. But clearly, all of this area is within the cone of air. And we know there is still a lot of area. Some 170 miles an hour in four days out. There is a lot of historical air. The forecasting is not enough to nail this down every time. This is the best thinking at the time. And you can see the computer model forecast shifting back to the west the past couple of days which is why you see the official track from a big area of circulation. A large hurricane. The center right about there. As i mentioned the eastern side of the storm, that is what has seen the worst of it. Unfortunately, the country of haiti, the western portion of the island of hispanola, this is just east of guantanamo cuba. They are seeing wind gusts but they are on the weaker side. But they are seeing some storm surge there. This is new, nicole, going to stay out to sea. 50 miles an hour winds. 15 named storms here this season. There is a look for the rest of this evening. Storming wrapping up. Kind of a mixed sky it looks like. Shower chances are low in the morning. Probably a lot of sunshine around. Then, in the afternoon, about a 30 chance of showers and thunderstorms for us. And, you can see as we head on into wednesday afternoon, about that 30 chance with mostly cloudy sky. Muggy conditions for us into the early part of thursday the influence with the flow around the northern side of matthew as it moves to the north and northwest. And, theres a look thursday afternoon when our rpm forecast is forecasting offshore. As you can see on the computer models, the different opinions which the Hurricane Center uses and we use to forecast the path of the storm as best we can at the time. 30 rain chance for wednesday as we get on into thursday. A 30 windy conditions will Southern Side of the storm, it will pull in drier air and a cold front moves through the early part of sunday. That will drop our rain chances, drop our humidity. And, make it feel much more comfortable. In fact, it goes south into and through cuba. That is a chance the rainy season may be coming to an end. Lets hope so. As much as 40 inches of rain is expected to fall in some areas making flooding and mud slides a major concern. And, here is a live look right now at cocoa in Brevard County overlooking the indian river. Certainly the calm before the storm. No effects from matthew just yet. Steve jerve joins us live in the forecast center with the latest. That area in cocoa, they are conditions are possible within 48 hours, that is the east coast of florida. And no portion of the bay area is under any kind of hurricane or Tropical Storm advisory at this point. It is the east coast of the state of florida. Lets take a look then and see what the numbers are as of 5 00 from the national Hurricane Center and the position of the storm which is about 65 miles east of guantanamo, cuba.
