No escaping the scorching heat. This is one of the cleveland metropolitan schools that doesnt have airconditioning. And water was a hot commodity here last week as well. Multiple sources inside the school confirmed there were no working water fountains because the school is among dozens being tested for lead. This is my childs safety. Reporter one mother who asked me not to identify her told me on one of the hottest days last week she got a call from her son to pick him up beca extreme heat. When she saw him, her temperature began to rise. He was beat faced red, dripping sweat, his polo was drenched. I brought him home. He had heat exhaustion that he was so dehydrated. He drank four bottles of water when he came home. Reporter they are asked to provide water coolers for schools who have their water fountains turned off. But the problem here last week, that they would explain to me that the water ran out. And something that this mom no water . That they ran out of water yesterday. And i also discovered that frustrated parents and teachers on social media, they were complaining of the high classroom temperatures and no running water. That late this afternoon the cms spokesperson relied in my e mail, calling those claims false. She said in part that when the water coolers ran low, bottled water and gatorade were delivered to the staff and students at the school. And w schools last week because of the extreme heat. That mom told me that she now sends five bottles of water with her son to School Every Day just in case. In cleveland Tracy Carloss news channel 5. And this is just in to the newsroom. Akron City School Officials say they are closing that high school down again tomorrow. They saw a lot of clean up that still needs to be done following the fire that broke out at the school over the weekend. Crews are still trying to clean up smoke and water damage, and they are trying to air the dont believe that fire to be suspicious as they started in the construction area. They heard shots and screams before they were found. A cleveland woman recovering tonight after she was struck by a bullet while laying in bed around east 75th fired, they began following a car. Several occupants got out, jumped a fence. Officers recovered a gun by that fence and that is when they learn that the woman was hit with a bullet. The second time this has happened in cleveland is just the last five days. Last week a man was also struck with a bullet while lying in bed reading the bible on east 40th street. The man who is in a standoff with parma police on friday that they are now in jail. Police say that the 27yearold Thomas Dorothy ran from police after he was in a car that got into road. He was armed with a gun and confront add woman inside. That she was able to escape the home and run down their road to the officers who were at the scene of the car accident. After half an hour, dorothy surrendered to police, charged with aggravated burglary and with more charges pending. One burglar messed with the wrong house in fair lawn. Reporter tonight the suspect is locked up here in the Summit County jail. Now police are trying to figure out if the quick action by two pastors will help solve other crimes. Here is what happened around noon on thursday, Jerome Parker is a pastor and his son joshua arrived at their fair lawn home finding the front and back doors open. They spotted a foot of the closet. Jerome pulled him out and wrestled him to the ground. Joshua called 911. The suspect is identified as 25 yearold joshua hawkins. Police arrived finding the crook detained by the pastors. Investigators say that the suspect was trying to steal cash to get heroin. Jerome, who is a pastor of World Harvest Christian Church in akron, says that he has forgiveness, but also wants justice and the intruder to get help. Its obvious that he was in things. And so it is amazing that this worked out the way that it did and in light of the fact that no one was hurt, which i totally give god praise for. I give him honor for it.
