And today many businesses and restaurants here at crocker park closed early because of the explosion. They, of course, felt an economic impact. Impact from todays explosion quite literally. The explosion was very loud. You definitely knew it was some type of explosion. The shaking was enough to make us the patient and i walking next to each other, sidestep a little bit. Reporter as a precaution, carry and her staff immediately shut off these yellow and green medical gas tanks. Tonight at the surgery center, Benjamin Haney gave a presentation. But on his way in, he couldnt believe what he was seeing at a red light. I completely saw the explosion. You could see flames go up. It was very quick. Huge ball of flames and then debris started coming across. No damage, though. Inside, gas from the explosion permeated throughout the building about an hour. It was strong. You could smell it more in the front and obviously the back door here as well. It was an odor of natural gas as well. Reporter and were told that Doctors Office will be back open for business tomorrow morning. Meanwhile, tonight we have learned that those two propane tanks were at the American Greetings construction sites to keep the workers warm during the winter. Since its warmed up, they were scheduled to be removed. Amerigas, who provided the tanks, say they are investigating what happened. Theres been no issues there. A construction worker telling newschannel 5 today he recently heard the tanks were leaking. Someone mentioned they had some leaks they took care of. And a couple days passed. Reporter so you heard about leaks before this . Theres a lot of safety guys and they have strict standards, so. Reporter American Greetings say theyre not sure how the explosion will effect their move into the headquarters.
