As former dn chair youre well aware of what is going ohio is always at the top in terms of must wins and where both sides always feel like they can win. No republican has ever been president without ohio. So republicans feel like this is our territory and democrats, weve shown a good ability to win races with ohio especially in 2008 and 2012. This race is as fully joined in ohio as in any other state. Second time ive been here. Im going to be back a lot. Reporter donald trump ohio nationally. Why do you think that is . I thought this would be close. In april of 2014 i encouragedded Hillary Clinton to run. I encouraged her to run and said i dont care what the pulse says youre the underdog or winner. Just because of the series of dynamics including youre trying to two something that has never been done before. We are a millally divided politically divided nation, no state shows that more than ohio in a lot of ways. We always assumed it would be close and we have to make our case everyday. Were not going to stop election. Were going to make it right up to election day that hillarys proposal, building an economy that works for all, having Strong Military and alliances and having a community of respect and inclusion rather than division, these are the pillars of a campaign, were stronger together and its the case we have to make. Donald trump has gotten traction, sure but if American Workers say how is deporting 16 us . Thats his plan, build a walt, tax cuts to the rich we want a fair tax code that doesnt reward companies that ship jobs overseas. I think when people compare they will realize that deportation nation is no path to success but making investments in our people is path to success. Reporter i notice clinton donations, she wont accept them foreign donations as of now, as of president , president clinton will step aside from the connection with the foundation. Shes taking a step forward now, the foundation is but saying theres no corporations, no foreign connected countries that is not taking them now. Elected president clinton will sever the tie with the foundation he created. Reporter there was national news, the Clinton Foundation hasnt stopped accepting foreign and corporate donations and will only do so if clinton is elected president. You heard tim kaine mentioned hell be back in northeast ohio. A man of his word, in Southeast Ohio tomorrow. You have a former governor and congressman running against an incumbent. Reporter stricklands name recognition came with the record of being governor the economic downturn which portman has used against strickland. One announced this week they were pulling 3 million in ohio and this essentially says that the democrats have given up on the seat and redirecting resources to other seats. Strickland takes issue with ads. Those decisions are made in washington. And im here in ohio. And i think a lot of times people in washington live in a bubble. They have no idea what is really going on in the ground, on the ground. Reporter on the ground being the operative words. Hillary Clintons Campaign and my campaign, we have over 400 paid organizers throughout ohio and right now they are out there working everyday going doortodoor talking to people registered. Reporter portman also with a strong ground game while the gop may be working issues with donald trump they remain committed including governor kasich to see portman re elected.
