Then i read you said you really hadnt done cocaine but they are or 4 times. I really, really havent done it more than 10 to 15 times. Of course i said 3 or 4 i was terrified. Being judged. So what is the truth. I have done it lick 10, 15 times. Did it seem lindsay was being truthful now. I think that one of the things very obvious in the interview she feels a lot of shame. That comes often with addiction and also typical when it comes cocaine if you ask accompany contain addict how many times have you done cocaine you get about 50 response you can probably double or triple it then you are about half right. So i think that she was embarrassed. I think that she when asked originally she said three times i think that she didnt want people to know and afraid she would get in trouble but i think shes getting closer to the truth in. July 2010 lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in jail for violating probation after missing alcohol counseling sessions. She served two weeks. In one most face natureing parts of the interview she said this being in my addiction and everything and having all the chaos around me that i was so comfortable with. I somewhere inside knew and kind of wanted to go to jail. I think that that was constantly being put out there by me. Just by my actions. Yichlt or lack there of. Why. Cry for help. I think it was just to find some peace. Really. How desperate is that, that going to jail feels like peace. Yes. Yes its terrifying. If and seeing excuse me. My mom and my sisters face in this courtroom and my dad was just heart breaking. She went to jail but still was not enough. We just talked about getting closer right here. I like seeing her get emotional too because shes really starting to feel things it seems like. Well this most recent stint at rehab lindsay sixth. Of course beg the question. What is going to be different this time . Not taking aderol. Thats a big deal. Were you addicted to add roll. Yes. Because thats all i knew. N i was convinced it did grouped me but i notice how much calmer i am. Aderol this is big. I know she has been taking it for a listening time. Did you want to see more here about why were you on aderol. Do you know longer have a. D. D. Who prescribed it where did you get it. One of the things that really struck me is that typically what we notice is if you dont have a. D. D. And you take aderol, it hypes you up but if you do take it and you have a. D. D. It tends to calm you down exactly what she is describing. So to me it validates that she probably has some a. D. D. But this is someone who can not be messing around with any kind of substance. If a talktor prescribing is in to her she needs to work closely with the sponsor and doctor and more monitored closely but im glad to hear shes not on aderol. Thats great. Good sichbility all right. Oprah and lindsay discuss her rise to fame while lindsay still a teenager. Turns out obviously something she was not ready for. When did you first start to go off track do you think. When i moved to l. A. Which is around mean girls. After men girls after filming that. I think it was just i had a moment where i could just kind of. How old were you. 17 or 18. Mom let you move by yourself. No. She didnt want me to. L and i was stubborn. As 18yearold can be sometimes. I wasted so much money. I was living at a hotel and i had an apartment. I wasnt really being guided. How did you know how to handle things. I didnt think about it. Who is helping you invest your money or who is helping you decide. It wasnt happening. That was not happening. So just a girlliving the life. I didnt listen to my family when they would say come move back to new york right before kind of everything started to go down. This is an interesting part here. I mean she protected her family in a big way. That 17 or 18 when she moved to hollywood big difference there if she moved to hollywood at 17 her parents let her go. If it was 18 then she went on her own and she kind of klintd up herself and said 18. Really interesting things, that was poignant part of the interview. So heart breaking to me as a therapist and also as a parent to hear that this young woman had no guidance whatsoever. Well established her childhood at times toxic. Her dad spent time in jail and her mother enabling her addiction and said that nothing was wrong and lindsay was victimized by her faith. Lindsay told oprah she thrived on the havoc at home. A lot of stuff went on whon i was young in my family and i grew up in chaotic home and sometimes things were wonderful and perfect and things being so uncontrollable and chaotic if that, you know, it is something that people go through and unfortunately i waited too long to face it even though i have been going to see a therapist for years and years. Do you think you are or were addicted to chaos . I think so. Yes. Really. It was comfortable chaos for me. What was chaotic to some other people from the outside looking in was normal. You know. That was without it. And something said about me learning to be comfortable with things just being okay. Im really in touch with whether its prayer or meditation and i think for so long i have like kept that so locked down and chained down just by creating this whirlwind of garbage around myself. Addicted to chaos. Reporter learning to be comfortable with things just being okay. I thought that was pretty cool. When you grow up in a chaotic home like that the okay feels very unfamiliar and can even feel tanks provoking. So in a certain way almost she has to reparent herself. Has to create whole new normal which is a healthier new normal but is it a tough transition and the first year of so bright is emotional roller coaster. You pull out the substance that has helped you to calm yourself down. Been a tool however unhealthy but all of the emotion tend to bubble to the surface that first year. Its a tough year. Reporter ill straiingt revelation that lindsay was addicted to the chaos in 2005 we were on set for the music video for single confession of broken heart. In the video she directed real life sister alley and look alike parents arguing and fight something sheree created the drama. This is what a 19yearold lindsay told us then. People have such different perception of the way i live my life and whats going on in my life that if i can use my music video to kind of show people what really has gone on as kind of offensive and vulgar as it may and volatile and aggressive these okay. That happens and i want younger people to know it as wechlt i would like a little bit more of a conclusion with my parents. Just for their sake but im okay. Im a tough little cookie. You are a tough little cookie but clearly not okay at 93 years old. Difference between her and that interview and her last night both interviews to me smart. Smart little girl. But that one lost n. This one maybe closer to found. I agree. Interesting that even at 19 she had some insight. Theres something here missing. Theres something thats lost in me that im still searching for and theres a piece that im hoping to have with myself and with my parents and i agree. I think that in this interview i think its the calmest we have seen her. I do think she does have some spirit at. I that i she is connecting with higher power of some sort. I think that her narcissism and i say that not as a criticism but when you have an addiction you have to pull out of the mememe kind of stuff and then start to annual that higher power. Something biggerp me. I can give back. 12 step are based on. That part of it is you have to give back i think that its great that shes clearly working a praichlt despite the turmoil at home listened situation at times estranged from her dad now says they all get along and she does not feel she was used by either parent. Nobody is if permit i love my parents. And im not going to say that it hasnt the a certain situation i would have preferred to have been handled differently. Certain things i would have preferred to have been kept within my family. Private. Sow never felt that your mother exploited you or used you or i dont think anything was intentionally done in that wait a minute i think it was just, you know, and i hate what a bad rap people give my parents because they are just parents. I have asked in sit with my parents recently just that keep our life private, please. There we go. The fight. Ongoing fight between the 2 parents has done a huge disservice to lindsey. More than anything else. I agree. 100 percent. Also the parent and ability to get their own stuff together. And its unfortunate when you have a situation like this where lindsay is kind of the role mold. Lindsay is the leader if she really does this and at some point she may have to the severe her relationship with her parents if they dont get it together and you could see how protective she was of them. You know, billy, i thought oprah got a lot out of lindsay that we havent heard before. This is the one point in the interview that i thought lindsay wasnt completely forthcoming. When we heard that original phone call she so so you knowed lake she knew what she was talking about. Almost seems now shes kind of protecting the family because as she said they are getting along. Going to lunch together so she doesnt want to perfect pet ate anything. Try to get a stability that was not there before. Maybe if she says the wrong thing it will start all over again the vishs cycle. All together i thought oprah was a mentor than interviewer and oftentimes oprah, its oprah so people clean themselves up and i dont think oprah was there to bash her as had he she said in the beginning i want to find out your truth if you are taking responsibility for your actions.
