A pretty decent swath of marion, sumter, lake counties youll be first to see the rainfall. On your doorstep in the next few moments time. Then it moving in. I want to show you nasty storms up in north florida. This line of severe thunderstorms will be moving into tallahasee next. And this is why were watching this potential for Severe Weather in our area. The big stretch on the turnpike to colonial only 8 minutes. Jason parts of the nation now bracing for a massive winter storm. It could dump up to three feet of snow in some places. Michelle crews have been very busy in the northeast with salt that will be used to deice the roadways and sidewalks. This storm is expected to have a huge impact on airports across the country. American airlines said it was canceling all flights today in and out of charlotte. Flightaware. Com said more than 4,000 flights across the country today and tomorrow have been scrapped already. The focus here is safety but this of course is going to create a big mess for travelers today and through the weekend. We did just talk to a woman who lives in charlotte herself. She says she had to quickly change her flight plans when she found out about the cancellations today. Scramble at the last minute so i could go home a pack and rush to the airport and try to get on stand by. I was blessed that i got seat for orlando. The storm is also affecting Amtrak Service in our area. The auto train from outside sanford is not running today or tomorrow. We even have our own chance of Severe Weather today. They say the woman got into an argument with a man at her home. As they were fighting the man drove away with the woman hanging on to his car. She let go, when she was hit by another car passing by. The victim claims the man dragged her from the cab and raped her. Michelle a local Security Guard died after a crash on campus. The golf cart was hit by a suspected drunk driver. Now he has died from his injuries. The driver is held on a i95 is back open in Volusia County. The northbound lanes were shut down last night after a dump truck crashed into a bridge. Officials tell us the driver of that truck was taken to a hospital and expected to be all right. Troopers say he mistakenly left the back part of his dump truck raised. Michelle a registered sexual predator is behind bars in seminole county. Detectives say Walter Ambrose raped a 13yearold girl on tuesday in long wood. He has already been convicted of Sexual Battery in orange, brevard and seminole counties. Police say he put a knife to the childs throat and forced himself upon her in the girls home. That pushes off into southern portions of Brevard County by about 2 00 this afternoon. We talk about a Severe Weather threat. The biggest threat is going to be gusty winds. Heavy downpours of course but the biggest concern of tornadoes stays well to our north. This is what weve been saying all week long. Our tornado index threat puts it at about a 2 on a scale of 1 to 10 because the dynamics are staying north of us. Were watching it for you but no real adjustment to that forecast. In all duke says theyve got 5,000 workers ready to respond including 1,400 from the sunshine state. Michelle that same storm system is getting ready to cause massive problems along the east coast. Orange county deputies are searching for the gunman who shot a man near u. C. F. Jason it happened around 11 30 last night. A 19yearold man was shot in the back and was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. Deputies say they are only suspect. Its not clear what sparked the shooting. Also new, one person is allegedly it happened on sand lake road near i4. Investigators say the driver of a White Toyota Corolla ran right into the back of the troopers s. U. V. That driver was taken into custody on suspicion of d. U. I. The trooper wasnt hurt. This morning Orange County investigators are trying to piece together the drowning of a toddler. Michelle the threeyearold was found in a pool not breathing. Deputies say the toddler wandered out of sight yesterday at the home on elder wood court and fell into the pool. The pool had been drained inside of it. Family members and paramedics tried to revive him but it was too late. He was very active. Hes very active. He fell in the pool. Theres a pool in the back. Michelle the child was pronounced dead at Arnold Palmer hospital. Man accused of killing a woman in her downtown someone years before while he was in the air force. Prosecutors released hundreds of pages in the investigation of duxbury. Charged with breaking into an apartment in orlando and murdering a woman. One of the documents released details an encounter involving duxburys time in the military. He said during a poll had i polygraph test that he stabbed his exwifes boyfriend. That cold front is dragging in these showers and over the course of the day some of those thunderstorms could get heavy as they move into our area. Were waiting to learn if a lake county teacher will face disciplinary action after backlash from parents. Michelle the teacher split up students for a lesson in racism. The principal of Minneola Elementary School says the day king jr. Day the first grade teacher conducted an unapproved class experiment. The students were split up by eye color and discriminated against for several hours. The students with blue eyes got hugs and toys while the students with brown eyes got nothing, says a student. She only wanted the white people that had blue eyes to get hugs. She said she didnt want any of us. Everybody in the class was crying. Michelle the teacher told parents in a letter that the lesson taught the students about equality. Jason were seeing a new picture of a man wanted for trying to cash in on victims. Vms victims say the crook poses as a representative from the bank and is telling them they got a new debit card and need to turn in the old one. At least one card was used in Orange County. By the time we get into that ride home its not going to be as much of a factor, spicialg especially in our Western Areas. It will be taking longer to get out here in our eastern areas. Generally speaking were watching midday storms. Temperatures upper 50s, lower 60s. First alert Doppler Radar showing showers moving in. Tapping into our tampa radar, heavier pockets of shower activity in the gulf of mexico streaming in through sumter lake and Marion County in about an hours time. Now light to precipitation. Villages. For now the heavy stuff stays north of leesburg, lake mack back over to sorrento. Even new showers developing over saint johns. Further to the south leesburg, holly and the see more rainfall move in. Back toward zephyr hills this batch moves towards clairmont within 20 minutes time. The big line of storms still out there. Theres a ton of lightning in here. While i think it will gradually weaken as it moves our way, thunder and lightning is certainly a possibility as it moves toward us. Another 240 miles or so to move in. Areas highlighted in yellow, communities that the National Weather service and Storm Prediction Center placed under whats called a slight risk for Severe Weather meaning we could see an isolated area of strong to severe storms.
