We transition to sleet and rain combined by late morning and by lunchtime time and early afternoon it is straight rain. Getting to straight rain can be dicey for awhile and matching up with the morning commute. As we get to the middle part of the day, thats when the winds, the easterly winds are warming up along the coast the lowlevel cold will stay locked in so the transition will be snow to sleet and then freezing rain and there can be Ice Accumulation so that is an issue that has to be dealt with. So thats what creates the clash of air masses and the storm with some Severe Weather , but it is the snow that first moves in here as i mentioned around midnight or 1 00 a. M.
