Thats sustained of 145 Miles Per Hour when you are right near the eye. It is moving to the north at nine Miles Per Hour picking up speed 6789d whats going to happen with this . There are hurricane warnings out through the bahamas, and it will thread this area through the water. Remember dont focus so much on the eye, there will be a lot of wind and a lot of rain, and in fact, two or three feet of rain could fall into haiti. So heres where it goes, it goes through the bahamas and off the coast of florida morning, as a category 3 storm, that means winds of 120 Miles Per Hour sustained, and that is just off the shore. Heres where we start to get a bit of an issue. As we go through charleston and North Carolina and into virginia, we have got a category 2 storm with winds at 100 Miles Per Hour, just skirting along the coast, so as far as were concerned, were watching to see what it does after that. And we have what we call our spaghetti plot, but look at the variety were talking about. It is so far out into the focus. But i want you to keep an eye on the forecast as we head towards the weekend, that could be the issue, especially if we focus on sunday, wind and some beneficial rain. Lets check on the traffic on a tuesday morning, good morning. Good morning, mike, thank you very much. Certainly a busy tuesday morning, off to a tough start, sky 5 coming down 128, the lynnfield stretch, a crash up ahead by main street coming down through that stretch, that should be taking out the left lane as they get on it, let we have got other trouble spots, though, up on route 3 southbound, a crash, making for delays approaching 129 out of this stretch. 495 southbound, vehicles spinout after 2 13, more delays at 93, 93 jammed, methuen down through 495, and again at 129 on towards this avenue. Heres the crash by main street coming down out of that lynnfield stretch. South of town route 3 northbound were heavy coming out of the 24 earlier crash still has delays back to west bridge water. Ok, thank you. Back to Hurricane Matthew, and making landfall overnight, in haiti, the powerful storm, unleashing its power on that part of the caribbean. Its a dangerous storm. Randy mike said it is a dangerous category 4 storm still at this hour. Haiti dealing with the worst of it. Wind whipped rain lashed the southwestern part of the island. As best that they can. Keep in mind many people in haiti still live in shacks and areas prone to flooding. The surf on the island already is being turned up ahead of the approach. Dangerous amounts of rainfall, a serious threat for jamaica, along with the dominican republic. And a crucial hospital in haiti is right in the path of matthew. And a team here in massachusetts keeping a close eye on whats happening there in people in the southern part of haiti for 30 years. In anticipation of matthew the employees there have boarded up windows and dug trenches, but the big concern, the care needed after the storm. Were very worried about peoples homes. Were worried about injuries. Were concerned about rain. We anticipate massive flooding. He was worried about his ly in massachusetts but his inlaws are riding out the storm in hatedty, and he says that hes going to be traveling to the country after the storm passes. Keeping track of, you can track matthew any time on our mobile news app. If you dont have them yet you can download them. Now water was shut off for the entire neighborhood while boston water and sewer dealt with the situation. But now with the exception of one building on arrow street, the Water Service is back on in time for the folks here who are waking up and need to get ready for work and for school. We love your wakeup calls. Record them on your phone, make okay. Not vertical. Ok. I make that mistake all the time, i am almost reminding myself. We have got a storm down there. Erika yeah, watching it closely. Randy it will be a while before it impacts us, probably the weekend. Weve been talking about haiti, so it will be a big storm next couple days, and you will be hearing a lot about it. Let me show you whats going on. You can see the storm, itself, its about 500 miles across, and just to give you reference of where everyone is at, you get haiti, that makes up the island, and you have got cuba, and jamaica is the outskirts of it, and there was a lot of concern earlier that that would be where the direct hit would be. What we are seeing, there is the eye just about ready to move on but these are the strong winds, so Port Au Prince is having above hurricane strength. I am sure that the winds are over 100 Miles Per Hour, and this is getting close to guantanamo, as well, as it cuts through that water there right between cuba and haiti. So what happens . The bahamas. The bahamas are made up of dozens of islands, and as it moves through, we are seeing winds of 130 Miles Per Hour. So this means devastation there as well. And then we watch for it on friday morning, just off the coast of florida, as a major hurricane, a category 3. This is a bit of change from yesterday. Yesterday it looked like it would stay farther offshore, and certainly here in this cone of uncertainty, easily to move inland so thats why weve been keeping a close eye on that. We take the computer models and say where do you think it will go . And look at the spread were talking about here. There is a big spread going on and thats why there is a lot of uncertainty, turning the track and the intensity of it. Lots of it, will stay off the shore, and that will be beneficial for us. The one thing that i think well see, a lot of ocean swells, and this is not going to be terrible problems for us with the coastal flooding because were attias the shore and get the rain in here were in the middle of a drought. We could use it, today, a lot of gray skies and drizzle, and we will be seeing the clearing towards the afternoon. 60 to 6, and tonight, partly cloudy skies. A bit of patchy fog, and 42 to 50. Over the next several days, oh, we get to see the sunshine. Tomorrow, clearing away after morning fog, and thursday and friday, sunshine, and even into the first part of the weekend. Again, everything is hinging on sunday more than anything else and once it moves through much cooler weather coming. The highest temperatures in the 60s, so its that time of year. Cooler weather in. Get the rake ready and here we go. I am not ready for that. No. No. We have troubles on the road today. A lot of troubles this morning, actually. Tuesday morning, off to not a very good start. Sky 5 over the scene here, this is 128 southbound, coming into that stretch near main street, this crash scene, and everybody on the left and to the right, the two lanes squeezing in. Well go to the maps and show you a reference of where this is. Right around here is the crash, solid right back into peabody right through that ramp. Now over on route 2 a crash just prior to the concord rotary jamming things up, and big delays there, and three northbound, slowdowns getting by a crash, and delays stay up towards the expressway. 24 northbound, we had an earlier crash in tha delays from 106 and West Bridgewater up to randolph. Take 37 minutes. 95 northbound, late running work crew out there on 95 north at 495, two right lanes are blocked, and you are jammed solid back beyond there. Erika and randy. Thanks so much. The amount of rain were talking about is unbelievable. When you think about it, what a hurricane is, is a group of thunderstorms, and all those are capable of producing downpours and you have thousands of those to make that system so the rainfall in haiti is going to be one of the big issues, the wind, as well, and right now we have 145 Miles Per Hour. The center of the storm is right over the top of haiti. Whereas it going to go . It will be heading towards the coast of florida, but staying just off the shore. Look at these bands of rain were talking about. So category 4 storm right now, it will stay a four as it heads off the coast of cuba and then works its way through the bahamas as a four to a three, and everything above that is considered a major hurricane. So we have got a three just off the coast of florida. This is going to be early o is going to skirt the coast as we head through the carolinas. Maybe reducing down to a two because it is kind of interplaying with the land. But this is a powerful storm system, how about for us . We put our computer models together and call it the spaghetti plot. Thats something that well be looking forward to, lots of sunshine before the system gets here, and then all eyes will be on the tropics as we start to talk about matthew possibly this weekend.
