About seven inches fell at ohare airport. Hazardous conditions forced the cancellation of more than 500 chicagos northern suburbs got more than a foot of snow. Southern wisconsin received as jieks that. Danielle i will say this. It was ranked on the top five november snowstorms for chicago. That is, you know, that is but the good news is our precipitation will be in the form of rain. Were on the warmer side of things. We got lucky with this one if you dont love the snow. If you love the snow, winter is is many coulding. Well get move of it. Lets talk about that area of low pressure. You see it has moved up toward canada and provided snow for areas of the great lakes back through western new york. Even Northern New England getting some snow showers out of this. But for us this morning, we have the cold front crossing bringing us a couple of hitormiss showers to start the day. What were going concentrate on is this area of low pressure near the carolinas. This will ride along the front. Were going to have to watch how close this gets to determine where that rain shield will cut off because some areas will pick up a lot of heavy rain especially later on this evening and through the overnight. I do think its mainly the cape and the islands getting in on this although parts of southeastern mass may get some too. Notice some showers starting to break out in the region and heavier downpours moving towards moving into western mass, moving towards Worcester County. So were going to watch that for you all morning long. Basically what is going to happen is rain chances on the way up through the morning and really into the afternoon and i think that area of low pressure starts bringing us heavier rain bands after, say, 2 00 or so. So, if you have things to do, i would do them sooner than later especially the farther south and east you live of boston. Now north and west youre not really going to get in on a lot of this action. It will taper off early monday morning but the cape and the islands could still have some lippingerring showers. The big story behind this though is that push of cold air. Future cast. Notice a couple scattered showers around 8 00 or 9 00. Scattered showers. Maybe even western mass getting a little break of sun out there by about lunchtime. But watch what happens. You see how these showers start to blossom especially, say, boston and points south and east. And i do think, worcester, you could be in on this depending on but it continues through the evening. Notice we start getting into the deeper yellows and oranges through the overnight showers hours. Thats going to continue. Notice it is trying to turn maybe some of this rain over to some mixed precipitation as temperatures start to drop. Not so sure i would buy into that yet. It will have to determine just how heavy that precipitation comes down. And just how cold we can get that air in. If we can, we may get a couple wet snow flakes. I think thats mainly up through Southern New Hampshire or Something Like that. As far as how much rain, one to two inches looks likely along the cape and the islands but the farther north and west you go, youre not picking up as much. We could really use that rain since were down near nine inches now in boston. Right now this morning, if youre stepping outside though, wondering what the weather is like, its in the 30s and even 40s. For today, its a mild day on tap. Were going to warm up into the upper 50s some some locations like the south shore. Low to mid 50s in boston and the north shore and parts of merrimack valley. Then look at the push of cold air coming in tonight. Were dropping back into the 20s and even 30s. Thats why im saying if we still have lingering showers, there could be that changeover. Likely. On monday look at these high degrees. A lot of us may stay in the 30s through the day. You want to pull out that winter gear in youre headed out to Gillette Stadium for the pats game. The showers that do come through. Because temperatures will be in the upper 40s, low to mid 50s and a few upper 50s along the south shore and cape. What happens is this cold front triggers showers early in the day and heavier, steadier rain comes in due to that area of low pressure that has develops along the cold front. As far as whats happening right now though theres a couple of sprinkles through parts of Worcester County. Heavier downpours near the south coast of rhode island pushing in we also have even some snow showers ongoing in parts of northern New Hampshire as well as pushing into parts of northern maine. And you can see these showers right here. Theyre pushing now into the south shore. They will be with us through the next couple of hours. Thats when the future cast indicates. Say, by lunchtime notice though western mass seeing some breaks even in the cloud deck. But showers will be happening for the cape and the islands. And then here comes that heavier band of showers to really line up and start to fire up through the afternoon. Notice, i think, it really is boston and points south and east for the heavier downpours but Worcester County i think you could get in on this and notice that there is that edge so anywhere north and west may just stay cloudy but not necessarily see the heavier amounts of rain. There is this indication that some of this when we get towards past midnight or so could flip over to some mixed precipitation because temperatures will be dropping throughout the evening and into the overnight but it get that to happen. I think most of us just see some showers or some heavier rain bands. The heaviest rain the cape and the islands could see over an inch of rain. Notice i do include worcester in seeing at least some showers. Its a showery sunday turning to heavier rain tonight. Much cooler for your monday and a warmup is coming just in time for thanksgiving.
