To the cape and the islands. 38 mile an hour wind gusts. It is still a breezy evening going on. You go to the south shore and they are gusting 20 to 30 miles an hour and the same thing along the north shore. The billing difference now is the wind has gone in a more northerly direction as opposed to a northeasterly direction. In boston what will happen with the wind is you can see what will happen. Overnight, slowly diminishing. Thats good news when we talk about what is going on near the shoreline. Lets show you scenes from earlier. This is along revere and revere beach parkway. You can see the water splashing up. In lynn they had a similar situation where all of the water is bashing against the sea wall and a lot of spray as well. Fortunately we didnt get any major reports of damage. What about the tides . This morning it was 112 and tonight it is a 103. We have a little surge and remember i was telling you about the wind . Thing. Minor flooding is possible. The areas we will be watching are sandwich, nantucket. It is a down graded version of what we had going on. It is this area we are talking about. It was pounding over and bringing rocks and debris as they usually do. They had the normal flooding, but then that dissipated and they were able to clear the streets of snow and gravel. People felt afterwards, the locals, that they pretty much lucked out. It was a lot higher than usual. If it went over that sea wall a few hours before even high tide. It is pretty good. Last year i think was worse because of all of the damage that was caused. Reporter and this is where they really lucked out. That is that this snow did not stick to the wires or the day. We didnt have all of the downed wires and Power Outages. Things held together pretty well. Heather we just lost him. This is nantucket and they took a hard hit around 11 30 during the high tide. If you look at the video of the high tide we shot earlier, that happened at 11 00 a. M. They were expecting serious flooding, but they dodged that bullet. Only minor flooding. There are streets here that are unpassable. Only a couple with some minor flooding. The big issue are the winds. People worried about losing power. A lot of folks are recovering they are getting their power back over the weekend. That too seems to be okay. The houses all have power. The officials are keeping a close eye on the wind. We did speak with some of the families watching the water closely. Own though they damaged the flooding it was still scary. The waves were crashing over the house and the water was run thriewg here and down the through here and down the streets. They were huge. They were going and went up and on to the deck. Todd kazakiewich is live right now with more on the conditions. Todd . Reporter heather, we got about seven to eight inches of snow here and strong wind all day. Thats the case right now. We have low tide right now and the flooding has been fairly insignificant and it is the same case with Power Outages. Storm. All eyes were on the high tide before 11 00 a. M. There had been concerns that high tide and high winds could bring flooding and power lines. They were prepared for the worse, but thankfully that did not happen. We got through the high tide period. There was some minor flooding. Power outages are limited at the moment and so far, so good. Reporter and again Power Outages have remained limited all day.
