But lower prices mean more people hit the road. And this could be an issue if you lease your car. The nows Candice Aviles talked with a save a few bucks. What we found is as prices go down on gasoline its not uncommon for people to drive, take more weekend trips. As gas prices drop, we are seeing some of the lowest prices around. Averaging between 1 and 3 dollars a gallon across the states. Encouraging more drivers to hit the road. Often people have this debate with spring break are we going to drive or fly down to florida. With lower gas prices we are seeing feedback from our clients that driving would be a more vialbe option. But for those of us who lease our vehicles heres something to consider. Because of the cheap price of gas, it will end up costing you less if you negotiate a lease with higher miles at the dealership. Avoiding large fees if you pass your low mileage lease. It can definitely add up pretty quick and that can depend on how over mileage one might go if they take one of those low mileage leases. For example say youre planning to lease a chevy cruze 1 lt for 24 months. Your Monthly Payment for 10thousand miles would be 124. 38. 40dollars more. But if you drive just 2thousand miles extra each year the penalty would cost you an extra 166. 05 a month. So it would be cheaper to take the highest mileage deal up front than to take the lowest mileage deal and have to pay additional mileage overage charges. Swapalease executive Vice President scott hall says most importantly choose a plan that works best for you. Regardless of gas prices when youre leasing a vehicle which is a popular option for many consumers get an allowance that meets your needs so youre not always looking over your shoulder wondering if you have enough mileage left.
