Theyre looking through sex offender registries, cell phone records, anything that could case. The pain staking investigation into the murder of 30yearold Karina Vetrano continued into the night with numerous officers and detectives at the nypd mobile command center set up at 161st avenue and 79th street. Shaken residents here in howard beach have been especially worried vetrano was randomly targeted. At this point police say they do have reason to fear. We believe theres a Severe Community threat. Adds you know, right now we think it believe its anybody in her life thats created this. Investigators have been conducting a methodical grid search of the weeds and marshland where vetranos body was found tuesday night. Officers going out in special white suits searching in 300 feet increments for anything unusual they can test that could lead to her killer. Vetrano left her nearby home around 5 p. M. Tuesday for a solo jog on an unpaved trail through federal police say she ended up severely beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled. Her body discovered about 15 feet off the path. This woman put up a ferocious fight right to the end. The nypd called in the fbi for help. The bureau has provided additional equipment in the search like this drone over the scene. As they continue to work the case, loved ones will say good bye at a wake later today, and her funeral here in howard beach tomorrow. The pain staking investigation into the murder continued into the night with numerous officers and detectives at the nypd mobile command center set up at 161st avenue and 79th street. Shaken residents here in howard beach have been especially worried vetrano was randomly targeted. At this point, police say they do have reason to fear. We believe theres a Severe Community threat. As you know, right now we think its random so we dont believe its anybody in her life thats created this. Investigators have been conducting a methodical grid ar marshland where vetranos body was found tuesday night. Officers are going out in special white tyvex suits sering in 300 increments for anything unusual they can test that could lead to her killer. Vetrano left her nearby home around 5 p. M. Tuesday for a solo jog on an unpaved trail near the belt parkway. She ended up severely beaten, sexually assaulted and strangled, her body discovered this woman put up a ferocious fight right to the end. The nypd called in the fbi for help. The bureau has provided additional equipment in the search like this drone over the scene. The murder has rocked this tightknit community. Its terrible. Its disgusting. I feel so bad for the family. They got Homeless People living back there in the weeds. They got all these vagrants that just Wander Around doing nothing. Reporter bat active scene, the crime scene here at this early hour, police say they did visit a homeless encampment thats more than a mile away from the scene here, but at this point they do not believe that encampment was involved in any way in this murder. This morning theyre continuing to search sex offender registries, cell phone records, anything that could lead to the killer. Theyve also increased the reward for information to 10,000. Investigation into the murder of 30 yearold Karina Vetrano continued into the night with numerous officers and detectives set up at 161st avenue and 79th street. Shaken residents here in howard beach have been especially worried vetrano was randomly targeted. At this particular time police say they do have reason to fear. We believe theres a Severe Community threat. Right now we think its random so we dont believe its investigators have been conducting a methodical grid search of the weeds and marshland where vetranos body was found tuesday night. Officers are going out in special white suits searching in 300 feet increments for anything unusual they can test that could lead to her killer. Vetrano left her nearby home around 5 p. M. Tuesday for a solo jog on an unpaved trail through federal parkland near the belt parkway. Police say she ended up severely beaten, assaulted and strangled. Her body discovered about 15 feet off the path. This woman put up a ferocious fight right to the end. The nypd called in the fbi for help. The bureau has provided additional equipment in the search like this drone over the scene. The murder has rocked this tightknit community. Terrible, its disgusting. I feel so bad for the family. They got Homeless People living nothing. Reporter police did visit a homeless encampment over a mile away from the crime scene but say it does not appear that encampment played a role in this murder. The attacker grabbed a 20year old woman, put her in a bear hug, tried to remove her clothing but the victim fought back and he ran off. The ghl cargo plane was coming from paris when it overshot the runway at an airport in northern italy about an hour outside of milan. Investigators say the plane skidded off the runway and slammed through an airport nose of the aircraft barreled into the barrier. No one was hurt including the pilot and first officer.
