Investigators say nordlinger stabbed him in the leg, severing an artery, who later died at a hospital. Four other suspects from Rockland County are under arrest accused of trying to hide evidence after the altercation. The fire chief on the scene said the flames were so intense it burned through 12 beams of the basement. A firefighter fell through the first floor and into the fire. He suffered second and third degree burns. He went into the the living room above the fire area. The beams had burned through and he fell through the floor, through into where the fire was, but fortunately we had other firefighters down there, pushed in with a hose line and rescued him. Four other firefighters were treated for minor injuries. In who was stand staying in the home got out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police identified the Nassau County girl who was struck and killed by a car as she walked to school. 12yearold Gabriel Christina johnson was a block from Elmont Memorial High School yesterday morning. Thats what Nyack High School students face if the policy is approved. People dont care if they get caught or anything. Theyre going to do it anyway. Reporter if approved, Nyack High School would be the First District in the lower Hudson Valley to ask students to take a breath test if suspected they have been drinking. The superintendent, james montesano. If we get a positive reading, the first time its administered, we wait 10 minutes or so and then a second reading is then done. Reporter the policy would target students at school and after school events. A student can refuse the test, but will still be subject to the original policy, which means suspension based on reasonable suspicion. The School Superintendent works with the school board and convinced parents to change an early version of the policy face as reasonable suspicion for intoxication, calling it anything but fair, especially at sporting events. People thought as you were entering into the stadium, everybody would be lined up taking the breathalyzer test. Reporter there can still be legal issues, though. Other districts nationally have run into problems with objections raised by the American Civil Liberties union. They gave Hillary Clinton 49. 9 percent of the state delegate equivalent, compared to 49. 6 percent for Bernie Sanders with one precinct still outstanding. While the party hasnt declared a winner yet, the Clinton Campaign says its clearly hillary. Clinton may also be thanking twitter shows her winning one precinct by a coin toss. The same thing reportedly happened in five other precincts with clinton winning the coin toss every time. Now, iowa is of primary importance, really because its the only first nominating contest. The number of delegates is a small percentage compared to the national level, but its also important because you start to see less popular candidates be pressured into either getting something going or just get going. Noerdlinger lives in this edgewater Apartment Building with his mother, rachel noerdlinger, a former aide to new york city first Lady Chirlane mccray. They say its where khari was confronted by a group of young adults around 10 30 sunday night. Noerdlinger apparently tried to fight off young attackers, including 16yearold sauvignon lewallen of spring water, new york. Stabbed him in the leg severing an artery. Lew allen later died in an area hospital. Four others are under arrest accused of trying to hide evidence after the altercation. Im shocked. A city of subway slashings has the Guardian Angels back on patrol underground for the the Police Commissioner does not welcome the help. Jessica schneider reports. Reporter curtis sliwa called his Guardian Angel volunteers to action monday after a string of subway slashings, including one this weekend. A 27yearold man was cut in the face while waiting for the 2 train early sunday morning. Since theyre not removing the really psychologically damaged and mentallyill people, were going to start removing them and forcing the issue. Reporter sliwa says he doesnt see Police Patrolling the trains or the platforms, but commissioner bill bratton shoved off the vigilante justice on a radio show monday morning, saying the number of slashings is not astronomical. Theyre not expected to engage in anything. They dont have any powers. I dont see that being a big story. The incidents weve had are all independent of each other. The six subway incidents. Last year, in the month of that did not attract any media attention. Safety violations at more than 600 sites. The worst problems were housing shelters from private landlords. 67 percent of all violations were found there. The citys 357 traditional shelters fared better. More than half had 10 or fewer violations. Family shelters average less than 1 violation each. Meanwhile, the state has ordered the city to provide more security at homeless shelters. Its a second order in about a week. The fur followed the stabbing death of a 62yearold resident at a shelleder in east harlem. Devon black was killed, allegedly by his 22yearold roommate. The son of a former aide to mayor de blasios wife is behind bars this morning. Police say he stabbed one of five people trying to rob him. Janelle burrell is live with more this morning. Janelle . Reporter chris and may, Khari Noerdlinger is the son of rachel noerdlinger, who was formerly a top aide to chirlane, mccray, the wife of new york city mayor. Now, police say he was targeted in an Armed Robbery here in edgewater near where he lives and this morning, he is now facing charges including manslaughter and weapon stabbing one of the wouldbe thieves to death, trying to fight them off. All of this taking place sunday night here along river road in edgewater. Investigators say 16yearold sauvignon lewallen died after 19yearold noerdlinger stabbed him in the leg, hitting an artery. Lewallens four accomplices in the attempted robbery have been charged with trying to cover up the investigation. Investigators are stunned by the developments. Im shocked. I mean, ive worked two jobs seven days a week too live here because its a safe neighborhood. Its just unimaginable that something of this kind would happen here. Reporter now, noerdlingers Attorney Says that they are, quote, highly disappointed by these charges. They say khari is a victim much these apparent perpetrators and they will fight the charges vigorously. Meanwhile, noerdlinger is being held on half a Million Dollars bail, but the judge has ordered percent of that bail as typically is allowed during most cases. Police released a Surveillance Video of the suspect. He walked into a Valley National bank in New Hyde Park yesterday and passed a note to a teller demanding cash. No word on how much he got away with. And in Staten Island, five firefighters hurt while battling a fire in huguenot. It started around 9 05 00 last night. Officials say the flames were so intense, it burned through 12 beams. A firefighter fell through the first floor into the fire. He suffered second and third degree burns. He went into the living room above the fire area. The beams had burned through and he actually fell through the floor, into where the fire was. Fortunately other firefighters were there, pushed through with a hose line and rescued him. Four others were treated for minor injuries. Got out safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police have identified the Nassau County girl struck and killed by a car as she walked to school. The 12yearold was a block from Elmont Memorial High School when hit yesterday morning. Witnesses say the 7th grader was crossing against the light. No charges have been filed. The engineer in last years deadly amtrak crash in philadelphia told investigators he had a foggy memory of the derailment. Thats according to documents released yesterday by the ntsb. They dont come to any conclusions which show whats been learned so far. Engineer Brandon Bostian said 80 seconds before the crash he realized he was going too slow and began accelerating. The train hit a sharp curve at 102 miles per hour, killing 8 people. A rock was thrown at an amtrak train in philadelphia thursday nights. The rock hit a window crashing it. Some thought a bullet was fired at the window. No one was hurt. Amtrak, Philadelphia Police and the de Blasio Administration released a report on the state of the citys homeless shelters. It records every vehicle coming in to the long island village. Suspended or revoked registration. At police headquarters, officers check the information coming in from more than 30 license plate cameras set up at village borders. The mayor says since november, theyve seized more than 500 stolen or improperly registered vehicles under the program. Its led also to 25 arrests. Free testing for the zika virus for people with symptoms who traveled out of the country. Nine new yorkers tested positive for the mosquito bourne virus while traveling out of the country.
