And now police are trying to figure out who is responsible for taking her life. Police thought the 82yearold had died naturally in her sixth floor apartment here in brownsville early last month. Her body discovered by a Home Health Aide alone on her kitchen floor. It was a closed case for investigators, a doctor signing off on the death certificate that she had died of complications from diabetes and hypertension. But this past weekend, a twist as employees of the funeral home began preparing her body for burial. They found stab wounds and broken ribs. The medical examiner overturning the cause of death now declaring it a holiday saying the cause of death is stab wounds of the neck with blunt impact injuries of the head and torso. They find out that they killed her. I say what . Reporter neighbors stunned wanted to harm the elderly woman who live add loan. The apartment where the body was found now sealed by police and padlocked as they work to determine who killed her. The lady dont bother nobody. She was a good lady. Reporter the nypd says more than a dozen pedestrians have been killed in hitandruns since halloween and published reports show there have been 38,000 hitandruns across new york city so far this year. 4,000 people were injured and 34,000 of the hitandruns involved only property damage. And now the Transportation Committee will vote on new possible penalties for fonders. A councilmember is proposing the fines. The minimum would be 250. If the victim is physically injured, the driver would have to pay 500 to 1,000. If the injury is serious, it goes up to 5,000 if the crash results in death, the penalty is 2,000 to 5,000.
