Detective work including tracking that suspects cell phone in order to lead to his arrest last night. After months on the run, this morning this alleged Child Predator is in custody. Police arresting 37yearold greg boyden of the bronx overnight and accusing him of preying on young boys on baychester avenue since august. Investigators say this is boyden on Surveillance Video arn the time of one of the four to. The first happening august 1st when he allegedly sent a lewd photo of himself to a 13year old boy, and then called that boy, offering him money for sex. The following week police say boyden offered to pay a 13year old to carry his bags and then grabbed him. Last month they say he did the same thing to another 15year old boy, this time exposing himself to the teen, touching him inappropriately. Police say boyden targeted his latest victim inside the same park just last saturday. Youre disgusting, dispikible person. Reporter parents in the area enraged. The park where the incidents took place is a walking distance from three schools. Teachers there warning students to be cautious. Its the scariest thing in the world. Scares me as a teacher in the community, and especially because of all the kids, you know, we see them everyday. For their safety, we just want them to be safe. The flames broke out between the top floor and a roof in a vacant apartment under renovation in longwood. A tenant from a neighbors unit says she helped direct firefighters to the flames. I says theres no one there, its vacant. Youre going to have to break down that door. So they say, are you sure . I said, yes, im quite sure. They started breaking down the door and sure enough, thats where the fire was at. Between 15 and 20 people were displaced from the five story building. Five firefighters have minor injuries. And in Washington Heights a firefighter was hurt after he was struck by an exploding manhole. It happened on amster dam avenue and 181st street last night. The fdny was on scene after getting calls about several smoking manholes. Were told the firefighters injuries are minor. A promising baseball player from yonkers shot in the head last month has died. 23yearold Michael Nolen was gunned down shortly after 9 00 on september 18th in the parking lot of a burger king on central avenue. So far no arrests. He was drafted in the 18th round of the 24 amateur draft. The general manager released a statement saying the teams thoughts and prayers are with nolens family and friends. The nypd has released new surveillance photos in connection with an Armed Robbery at the plaza hotel. Investigators say these photos of the suspect were taken before the robbery took place. Police say a man robbed the Currency Exchange business of the famed fifth avenue hotel on monday. The man allegedly pulled out a gun after asking to buy 500 euros. Investigators say he made off with 4,600 euros. Thats more than 5,000. Police say they have identified a female in the suspected abduction of a teenager in bridgeport. Cameras captured that 17year old girl jumping out of a car to escape on monday. Police found that car in new haven last night. Investigators say the woman lured the girl into the car as she walked to school. Police say the teen was assaulted, though the nature of the assault is unclear. The girl was not seriously hurt. Happening today president obama heads to roseburg, oregon, site of last weeks mass shooting at a community college. Hell meet privately with survivors and relatives of those killed. The shooting prompted another call by the president for tighter gun restrictions and regulations. Some gun rights supporters plan to protest during the president s visit. Gillibrand has introduced a bill that would make gun trafficking a federal crime. Federal figures show that in 2013 nearly 70 of guns recovered in new york state came from outofstate sources. Hill. Police say she confessed to throwing the 19dayold child out of a 14thstory window because she believes he was possessed. Shoudry is said to suffer from postpart um depression. Oakland as prospect Michael Nolen of yonkers has died three weeks after he was shot in the head. His killer remains on the loose at this hour. Cbs 2s Andrea Grimes is live in yonkers with more. Reporter chris and mary, that driveby shooting happened here in this burger king parking lot off the major Deegan Expressway last month, but yesterday that standout baseball player from yonkers drafted into the majors died of his injuries. 23yearold Michael Nolen was standing by his car were told with friends in this parking lot back on september 18th, the Early Morning hours when police told us a vehicle drove by. Witnesses told police the driver pointed the gun out the window and fired several shots in nolens general direction. Investigators told us initially they believe this stemmed from a prior drag race. We spoke with police and nolens father right after the shooting. Hes a good ki. He was drafted by the oakland as. He had a full ride to college this is not a random shooting. Our investigation thus far, the case that its associated with a prior event. In queens a nighttime repaving project gets under way on the Grand Central parkway, repairing damage caused by last winters harsh weather. It will affect travel between east 168th street and the Jackie Robinson parkway. Work begins first in the westbound lanes and will last about a month, then work on the eastbound lanes gets under way. The airman credited with helping to stop a terror attack aboard a french train is recovering from surgery this morning. Spencer stone was stabbed and seriously wound outside of a bar in his hometown of sacramento early thursday. Police say it happened during an alcoholrelated brawl. The 23yearold was knifed three times in the upper body and survived after two hours of surgery. Police are still looking for two suspects. A new Jersey High School football coach has been reportedly got into a physical alter indication with the players mother. The confrontation reportedly happened tuesday afternoon at the st. Joseph regional football field in monveil. Assistant coach christopher trout claims he was slapped by sharon hardy. Hardy says she hit the coach after he spit on her and claims he then punched her in the face. I would just say High School Football in this area is, you know, fairly intense. Thank you. A suspect is under arrest this morning after a forcible hes set to be arraigned later today. Janelle burrell joins us live from criminal court. Janelle. Reporter good morning. That man facing a long list of charges. Police say hed been targeting young boys for months here in the bronx and they were determined to find him before he was able to attack again. After months on the run, this morning this alleged Child Predator is in custody. Police arresting a 37yearold greg boyden of the bronx overnight, accusing him of preying on young boys in Seton Falls Park on baychester avenue since august. Investigators say this is boyden on Surveillance Video around the time of one of the four incidents they have linked him to. The first happening august 1st when he allegedly sent a lewd photo of himself to a 13year old boy and then called that boy offering him money for sex. The following week police say boyden offered to pay a 13year old to carry his bags and then grabbed him. Last month they say he did the same thing to another 15year himself to the teen, touching him inappropriately. Police say boyden targeted his latest victim inside the same park just last saturday. Youre disgusting, despicable person. Reporter parents in the area enraged. The park where the incidents took place is walking distance from three schools. Teachers there warning students to be cautious. Its the scariest thing in the world. It scares me as a teacher in the community and especially because of all the kids, you know, we see them everyday. For their safety, we just want them to be safe. Reporter and police say they were finally able to track down boyden by talking with those victims, and they were able to positively identify him in a lineup. They were also able to trace his cell phone number when he sent a photo to one of those victims. Boyden expected to go before a judge later today. Reporting live this morning from the bronx, Janelle Burrell, cbs 2 news. The nypd has released new surveillance photos in connection with an Armed Robbery at the plaza hotel. Investigators say these photos of the suspect were taken before the robbery took place. Police say the man robbed a Currency Exchange Business Inside the famed fifth avenue hotel on monday. The man allegedly pulled out a gun after asking to buy 500 euros. Investigators say he made off with about 4,600 euros, thats more than 5,000. Connecticut police say they have identified a female suspect in the attempted abduction of a teenager in bridgeport. Cameras captured the 17year old girl jumping out of a car to escape on monday. Police found that car in new haven last night. Investigators say the woman lured the girl into the car as she walked to school. Police say the teen was assaulted, though the nature of the assault is unclear. The girl was not seriously hurt. A manhattan celebrity chef is being held without bail charged with having sex with several underaged boys. A federal judge ordered matthew tivy to be held without bail because he presented danger to the community. Authorities say the 54yearold photos and videos of at least five teenagers from new jersey, florida and ohio. House republicans are scrambling this morning after the frontrunner john boehner speaker of the house suddenly withdrew his candidacy. Right now there does not appear to be a clear second choice. Reporter thursday Majority Leader Kevin Mccarthy abruptly withdrew from the contest to become speaker. He had been the supposed frontrunner, but in the end could not get enough votes. Proof of that came wednesday night when roughly 35 hardline conservatives who call themselves the house Freedom Caucus threw their support behind congressman webster. I dont want to go to the floor and win with 220 votes. I think the best thing for our party right now is that you have 247 votes on the floor. When the house gop election will happen, some in the party had been trying to convince wisconsin congressman paul ryan to run, but ryan released a statement saying he wont be doing so. While webster has the support of the Freedom Caucus, he and chaffetz lack widespread support. I think we have a lot of internal fracture, fracturing thats happened and we need to figure out a way to unite the party. Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged 10 apartments in the bronx. The flames broke out last night between the top floor and the roof inside a vacant apartment thats under renovation in longwood. A tenant from a neighbors unit says she helped direct firefighters to the flames. I said theres no one there, its vacant. Youre going to have to break down that door. So then they said, are you sure. I said, yes, im quite sure. So they started breaking down the door, and sure enough, thats where the fire was at. Between 15 and 20 people were displaced from the five story building. Five firefighters have minor injuries. In Washington Heights, a firefighter was hurt after he was struck by an exploding manhole. It happened on amster dam avenue and 181st street last night. Eugene finney says a shark struck him while swimming in huntington beaf, leaving him with a gash on his back. Finney didnt make p of the wound until he started having back and chest pains. He went to the doctor. Turns out the symptoms were related to an undiagnosed case of cancer. They had discovered a growth or a tumor on my right kidney. If this hadnt happened with the shark causing me to go in with this chest pain, i would have never known about this cancer. The tumor was removed about two weeks ago. Finney is expected to make a full recovery. For one of americas first celebrity chefs. Paul prundo made spicy cajun food popular outside of louisiana in the early 1980s. He had no formal training but gained promise. He died after a brief undisclosed illness. He was 75. Well, pushback is mounting in Westchester County for some muslims trying to establish a mosque in a residential neighborhood. The Islamic Cultural Center of mid westchester is trying to turn this rundown property at grandview boulevard and underhill street in north yonkers into a place of worship. The markets are on a roll. The dow will open above the 17,000 mark for the First Time Since august. It jumped another 138 points on thursday, the nasdaq climbed 19. Its the start of earnings season and so far not so good. For the first few companies to report, they have missed expectations, including gap, especially the companys Banana Republic brand. The ceo says that customers made it clear that the clothes dont fit well and arent flattering enough given the prices. The skies are not so friendly these days, even though most flights are arriving on time. Consumer complaints against airlines have nearly doubled in the past year. Reporter mary, you have to imagine parents in the bronx are relieved after this arrest overnight. They say this man had preyed on at least four boys that they know of and were able to find him before he was able to attack again. After months on the run, this morning this alleged Child Predator is in custody. Police arresting 37yearold greg boyden of the bronx overnight, accusing him of preying on young boys in Seton Falls Park on baychester avenue since august. Investigators say this is boyden on Surveillance Video around the time of one of the four incidents they have linked him to. The first happening august 1st when he allegedly sent a lewd photo of himself to a 13year old boy and then called that boy, offering him money for sex. The following week police say boyden offered to pay a 13year old to carry his bags and then grabbed him. Last month they say he did the same thing to another 15year old boy, this time exposing himself to the teen, touching him inappropriately. Police say boyden targeted his latest victim inside the same park just last saturday. Youre disgusting, despicable person. Reporter parents in the area enraged. The park where the incidents took place is walking distance from three schools. Teachers there warning students to be cautious. Its the scariest thing in the world. She was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and purple sneakers. A manhunt under way in brooklyn for two suspects after an elderly man is violently robbed. Police released these images of the suspects. The 79yearold says one of the men put him in a chokehold and threw him to the ground while the other took his wallet and cell phone. It happened just after 4 00 tuesday near abmarl road in flatbush park. The suspects allegedly made off with about 1,100 in cash. Investigators say the men then used the victims credit card inside the kings plaza shopping center. Now since his death condolences are pouring in, not only from the mayor of yonkers, but also major league baseball. Nolan was standing by his car with friends in this burger king parking lot in the early hours of september 18th when police told us a vehicle drove by. Witnesses told cops the driver pointed the gun out the window and fired several shots in nolans direction. Investigators told us initially they believe this stemmed from a drag race. There is no word about a motive at this time. In other news, new this morning a suspect is under arrest, charged with the forcible touching of young boys in the bronx. He is set to be arraign later this morning. Cbs 2s Janelle Burrell joins us live from bronx criminal court. Janelle. Reporter mary, police say his youngest victim just 12 years old, and this man had apparently been preying on these boys for several months. Police finally able to catch up with him last night, making that arrest. We want to show you some video just after police took him into custody overnight here in the bronx. They say that hes been luring at least four boys in Seton Falls Park in the bronx, in the eden wall section since august. Police say the man, greg boyden, 37 years old from here in the bronx sent a nude photo of himself to one of the boys offering to pay him for sex. Now, in other cases he approacheds in that same approached boys in that same park where he inappropriately touched them according to investigators, all of this happening within walking distance of three schools where parents and teachers say they have been urging the kids there to be extremely cautious, and they, as you can imagine, are outraged. You are disgusting you are a disgusting, despicable person. It scares me as a teacher in the community, especially because of the all the kids, you know, we see them everyday. A Long Island Community is panicked this morning after a 29yearold medical student has been missing for four days. Yosef gerson was last seen leaving his family home in lawrence monday morning to meet up with a homeless man in queens he had befriended. Police have interviewed the homeless man. He is not believe to be a person of interest. Family and friends say gerson who attends Albert Einstein college of medicine has been stress an has not been himself lately. Investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire that damaged 10 apartments in the bronx. The flames broke out last night between the top floor and the roof inside a vacant apartment thats under renovation in long. Between 15 and 20 people were displaced from the fivestory building and firefighters were hurt. And in Washington Heights a firefighter was hurt after he was struck by an exploding manhole. Had happened at the amsterdam avenue and 181st street last night. The fdny was on the scene after getting calls about several smoking manholes. We are told the firefighters injuries are minor. A manhattan celebrity chef is being held without bail charged with having sex with several underaged boys.
