Our top story this morning a funeral will be held today for another victim of 9 11. Nypd lieutenant marci sims died of cancer, one of roughly 1700 people who have died following their work at the World Trade Center after the attacks. Next year crucial help for those still suffering could be gone. Cbs 2s ilana gold joins us live from Lower Manhattan with more on that. Ilana . Reporter diane, this morning hundreds are going to pay their respects to marci sims. She was so dedicated to her work here at the World Trade Center sauce and this is where she paid the ultimate sacrifice. The community will say good buy to lieutenant macci sims. Marci sims. She last her battle with cancer at age 51. It was smoky. You felt it was burning your throat. Reporter thats sims talking last year in a video talking about 9 11 and the conditions she worked in. She spent four months at the site doing rescue and cleanup as a rookie officer. Her health then dee tear yated as she deteriorated as she moved up the ranks. I noticed a lump on my stomach. Even the doctor thought it was nothing but a cyst. Reporter the cyst was lung cans their spread. She died on thursday at her home on long island. Her sister spoke with us on the phone about her passion. She was an amazing woman. She talked about when she was a little girl and said she wanted to be a cop and she was. She followed her dream. Sims will be remembered for her love for life. She had an amazing personality. When she walked in the room, the room lit up. Reporter sims and her husband, keith, visited the 9 11 memorial last year. Her friend 9 11 First Responders advocate john field talked to us about this loss. She also came to this park knowing that sadly one day she would be on this wall. We humbly will honor marci next year when we do the reading of the names. Reporter field now speaking out about medical coverage for those in sims position. Her costs were taken care of by the 9 11 Health Compensation act, but congress failed to renew the program last month. It will expire in october of next year. What about those whose families are being torn apart by 9 11related illnesses yet they have a cloud of uncertainty because their nations leaders cant come together to pass a bipartisan bill. Reporter advocates are pushing for congress to look at this issue again and vote yes on renewing the bill. New this morning a search is under way in brooklyn after police say a man robbed several offices in a building in brighton beach. Police just released this photo of the suspect. Investigators say on october 30 just before 4 00 a. M. , he used the fire escape to gain access into the building and once inside stole electronics, including computers along with money from four offices. Police are searching for two suspects in two separate stabbings that took place in saturday. The first happened in Herald Square around 5 00 a. M. Near union square. In the Herald Square Incident Police say a woman stabbed another 25yearold woman in of argument. Union square a man was stabbed on east 61th street 16th street by a suspect described as bald wearing a green jacket. Police are searching for both of those suspects. To the crash of the egypt plane in the sinai district. Investigationors are still trying to figure out the source of a sound heard on the cockpit voice recorder. A Massachusetts Woman got the surprise of her life. To say the least. She was experiencing major stomach pains and decided to go to the hospital to get it checked out. You dont have any blockages or anything. Youre pregnant. Okay. And youre going to have her now. An hour later 8 pound carolyn rose arrived. The parents had no idea. I feel im still going to wake up in the emergency room and hey, this was only a dream. What . Reporter judy says she felt different recently but thought she was moving to the next phase of her life. She also noticed her stomach growing but thought she was just putting on weight. This isnt like regular gaining weight. When you gain weight its normal flab and soft but it was hard. Mix this around for a while. If you want a little bit of sugar in the pecans its great but just a little toasty flavor is nice also for the texture. Look at the color in this one. This is believe it or not outside of an i hop, a large sinkhole swallowed more than a dozen vehicles in meridian about 100 miles east of jackson. It is cool and crisp out there and today well be will be a perfect fall day in my personal opinion with highs in the 50s. Tons of sun and a stiff breeze out of the northwest. I think if you go out today to look at the leaves, youre going to see a lot of this because the skies will be blue. The sun will be bright and that color will just be shimmering on those trees. Anthony sends us this one of the the beautiful blue skies out there this morning. And essentially this is how its going to look for the duration of your day. We might see a few high thin clouds but generally clear skies, seasonable temperatures and a breeze out of the northwest. Gusts could be as high as 20 Miles Per Hour today. Lets take you live outside. A look across the city skyline. There are a couple of few thin clouds i was mentioning. In central park 47 degrees. West, northwest winds at 12 Miles Per Hour. So what can you expect if this forecast . Its a clear and cold start to your sunday morning. But its going to be sunny skies throughout the day and a sunny start to your monday as well. But late tomorrow, the clouds begin to thicken and then on tuesday, so far its looking like soaking rain which is definitely a different story than yesterday. Yesterday it looks like maybe some showers but now this system will be moving more north and will hug the coast so we could actually get much needed rain on tuesday. As we look at the temperature trend, it was so warm this week. 74 on friday. Saturday at midnight it was around 72. Yesterday in the afternoon 60s for the most part. Today highs will only be in the mid50s. But that really is where we should be. The normal high is 57. We have a slow and steady climb from there. As we make our way through the week, maybe a couple of low 60 degree days but essentially upper 50s is where its at this week. On the vortex satellite and radar picture, clear skies out there right now. We have High Pressure to thank for that. Today and tomorrow will control the forecast. So here it is. It will migrate to the east. As that happens the winds will begin to switch but on tuesday, then low pressure takes over and thats when the rain moves on in. So lets show you what this looks like hour by hour. For today beautiful blue skies. Temps in the 50s and breezy. Overnight clear skies, temperatures will drop again. Most of your monday is sun filled but here we are at 6 30 tomorrow evening and those clouds are beginning to make their way in from the south. Its all associated with that area of low pressure moving up the coast. So watch what happens. The clouds thicken first of the the rain follows. 6 00 a. M. Tuesday morning bad timing for wet weather to move on in. Could very much impact your morning commute on tuesday. Its heavy and steady through the noon hour. It is still raining around 5 00 for the evening commute and really it doesnt wrap up until wednesday. But skies will be clearing for veterans day throughout the day. As we look at the rainfall totals from this event, we could see 1 to 2 inches. Does look like the strongest totals will be to the east of the city for today in the 50s with lots of sun. 4 in monticello. 48 in monticello. 30s north and west tonight under clear skies. Theres also flat plastic sheets you can draw words, do the same thing so really a lot very nice. We wait all year to get that cookies. You dont have to wait all year thin mint. Oven.
