Breakfast, a worker checked scalias room and found his body. It appears he died of natural causes. Raised in queens. He was nominated to the Supreme Court by president Ronald Reagan and was the senior justice on the court. Now to a warning about tonights extreme cold. Stay inside or you could possibly face the coldest weather in a century. Anywhere from 15 to 40 below zero. Things are dangerously cold as you mentioned and theyre set to get even colder. We do have some windchill alerts in effect. Everything you see in pink a windchill warning. Everything that you see here in this blue, a windchill advisory. So the entire area is under a windchill alert until 1 00 tomorrow afternoon. The windchills anywhere between 20 and 40 below the actual air temperatures, also a problem. Now to breaking news. The man who investigators say went on a stabbing rampage at a Staten Island hotel, killing two children and his girlfriend is now in police custody. Cbs 2 is live with more. Brian. Reporter Police Sources confirm that 23yearold Michael Sykes is in custody and being questioned here at the 121st precinct on Staten Island. Not far from the scene of this horrific triple murder that happened at a hotel that was also being used as a shelter for homeless families. Sykes has been the subject of an intense man hunt for three days after last being seen boarding the Staten Island ferry wednesday morning after the bloody stabbing rampage inside the ramada inn in the willow brook section of Staten Island. Only about four minutes to murder his 28yearold girlfriend rebecca cutler, their 4monthold daughter maliyah and cutlers 1yearold daughter ziana. A 2yearold named miracle was the only survivor of the attack. Cutler and the three girls were placed at the hotel by the Citys Department of homeless services. Investigators say sykes called his mom to confess to the murders and threatened to kill himself as well. Sources tell cbs 2 that police got a tip that sykes was staying at the home of a friend on 31st avenue in betweens. They staked out that house today and picked the suspect up at about 4 00 p. M.
