Some of you to High Temperatures today you did find as a matter of fact lets just see if anybody out there found an 80degree reading. 76 for yonkers. 76 east brunswick. Shy of 80. This is a warm one. New york city even up to like the upper 70s. Let me show you what i see as of now. Rain on the lens 65 degrees. Headlines look like this. There are storms overhead as im talking to you. They are fast movers. Many folks will be clear by 7 30 tonight. Maybe the east end of long island. Youre going to hold on to wet weather for another hour, hour and a half after that. They are moving through quickly. 78 in central park. Just about 3 00 in the afternoon 2 56 to be precise around here. 68 would be the typical for this time of the year. You start getting ready for the clouds to part you have a goodlooking weekend ahead. Heavy rain in manhattan. Is there much behind this . This is the end the story. I dont see a lot out there brewing. Thank you. Donald trump remains the frontrunner for the republican president ial nomination. And John Dickerson from face the nation saturday down with trump today. He joins with us a preview of whats coming up on sunday. So trumps popularity no question. Everyone is talking about him. Everyone knows him. Is that going to translate into votes. Thats the question. Particularly in iowa, theres a caucus which requires a little bit of finesse. You have to go and wait basically in a high school or gym to cast your vote. A lot of republicans even if they are registered republicans they dont turn out so what donald trump has to do is take new people that he has brought into the system and teach them how to go through that process. Thats a particularly in eye he will have to do that in every state. So you can be popular but can you turn it into votes . Thats the question. Lets look at the part as a whole right now especially on capitol hill facing disarray. Ken mccarthy dropped out of contention. Said im not going to do this because he didnt think he had support. So one of the names thats coming up is former Vice President ial candidate paul ryan of wisconsin. He says he doesnt want to do it. I dont know if everybody buys it. What do you make of this . Well, its funny. Donald trump in our interview today said basically he took some credit for Kevin Mccarthy stepping down because trump said we need somebody who is strong and he didnt think Kevin Mccarthy was strong enough. He is putting that scalp on his wall. Ryan doesnt want that job. He likes the job he has now which is to be chairman of the ways and means committee. He is a policy guy and thats a fun job. The speakers job would be a nightmare because he is more like john boehner and ken mccarthy than the ultraconservatives who have been causing the excitement in the Republican House right now. And so he would face a lot of the same troubles that john boehner faced so why would he want to sign up for that . Also he might want to be president someday and a bunch of fight with conservatives in his own party is not a thing you want to accumulate before running for president. Would donald trump support paul ryan . I think he is somebody that probably that could get good support. I think he is a very nice person. I think he doesnt want it very badly but you never know. Maybe he is playing one of the great games of all time. Speaker of the house is a great position. But he doesnt seem to want it. But ill bet that you if it was actually offered to him, he would take it. So donald trump is king maker. But what about all this disunity. The party going forward. It doesnt seem to be real cohesive. He would be either a bridge between the two factions or set a clear direction and have people get behind them. But no clear leader emerges at the moment. Paul ryan is the begs choice at the moment but he is the best choice at the moment. But he represents these conflicts. Donald trump represents the ultraconservative group in the house is at the top of the polls. So this story has many chapters to go. And its going to be theres going to be some bumpiness between here and the election. How is that going to be a factor with no leader . The leader is whoever gets the nomination and they will speak most loudly for the party so thats why its so important. They will speak more loudly than the leaders of the Republican Leaders of congress. So it really is up for grabs who the leader it. John dickerson, thank you. Thanks for having me.
