Every time i get off the couch im lightheaded and dizzy. He said what else . I said, im getting bad headaches. And my speech has slurred a bunch of times. Reporter marias doctors ran tests and found a golf ballsized tumor in her brain. He showed me the mri. It was pretty big tumor. And he gave me my options. Reporter marias tumor is not cancerous. Last month, she had risky surgery to remove it. And the prognosis is hopeful. Now, maria views the whole ordeal as an opportunity to rethink her priorities. And we are we help everybody and we put ourselves last. Always. And i dont think that we at least for me, i guess i realized, i didnt value myself in a lot of ways. And so, i think that was a really important lesson. Reporter a lesson she now wants to share. When our bodies make weird noises were like, shut up. Im too busy to go to the doctor. Reporter she spoke to People Magazine about everything shes endured. She has not said anything about this until now. She is just now recovering. Shes getting her balance back. She hoped by sharing the story she will encourage people to listen to their bodies and go get anything that feels wrong checked out because thats exactly what she did. Reporter even though her surgery was successful, marias ordeal is not over. Theres a 6 to 7 chance that this toomer cocome back. You have to watch it. I was very heavy. I probably weighed at that time, 188 pounds. And im 5 f1. I drank a lot. I could have been on the verge of a diverse. I wasnt happy with myself. I was in the throes of alcohol addiction. Its a terrible thing to have an addiction. I would wake up and feel terrible. And i would think to myself, the only thing that could cure that was a little glass of wine. Reporter she knew she couldnt continue this way. I have to change. This has to stop. Reporter and a doctors visit confirmed that. I had bloodwork done. When i got the labwork back, my cholesterol was skyhigh. It was at 331. Some of the toughest conditions in the world. Reporter it was the second day of dions ultramarathon, a sevenday desert trek, spanning 155 miles. While you were running, you looked down and you saw this face. She was at my feet, looking up at me. And i just thought, what a cute little dog. But the next day, he faced a striking condition. I started running through the water. And i could hear this dog, barking, whining, yelping,yelpi crying. Reporter because she couldnt swim. I saw this dog in so much panic, i made the decision to go back and pick her up. Reporter after turning back for the First Time Ever in a race, dion knew the bond was real. As soon as i picked her up and put her in my arms, she had a look of bliss in her eyes. Reporter naming his fourlegged friend, gobi, the pair went on to take second place in the overall race. She was with me all along. Reporter dion wanted to bring gobi home to scotland, but while awaiting processing in china, the unthinkable happened. Gobi was accidentally released and she vanished in a dense city of 3 million people. Dion returned to china, desperate to find his furry friend with reward posters placed everywhere. I was heartbroken and i was worried for her safety. Reporter then, finally, dion received a text with a photo. Was it really her . When he showed up at the home where gobeli had been found ali, it was a miracle. Gobi was across the room. And she came running up. Yelpi yelping like the river crossing. She knew it was me. And t we have, what does the cooking in the oven do before theef grilling . You need to cook low and slow. It breaks down the collagen and itla makes it tender and juicy. It protects the meat. It doesnt. Allow it to get har. Bone side down. About a minute, minute and a half on this side. And well flip it when we sauce. And we can throw the corn on here.
