The general manager says that this is the second time the restaurant has been vandalized in recent weeks. Ooh. That could have been a lot worse. All things considered. Here is the story. A Police Officer in Passaic County barely got out of the way of that falling tree. Officer doug faber ended up breaking his wrist trying to get to safety as the 60foot poplar fell onto the road. The officer was trying to move another fallen tree. This all happened in ringwood when the poplar came crashing down. Lets head to texas where two people are dead and one person is missing after severe weather. A firefighter who went to rescue a driver swept away by high water needed a little help from the air. Thats the video were showing you right now. A helicopter pulled the firefighter and the driver to safety in austin yesterday. Now your nbc10 first alert neighborhood weather. Good morningism meteorologist erica martin with an update on your weather. You bring up a great point, rosemary. Even though conditions will be dry for today we have heavy downpours sunday into monday and flooding is no joke. So keep that in mind. Im going to show you futurecast in a moment. Right now lets enjoy sunshine and temperatures in the 80s and 90s. A muggy day in the forecast. Cari considering an onshore flow. Sticky situation out there. By 2 00 p. M. Were seeing upper 80s with a slight shift in the winds, southsouthwesterly and forecast for the next couple hours for philadelphia, 3 00 p. M. , 7 00 p. M. At 3 00 p. M. , 88 degrees. At 7 00 p. M. Were seeing mid to upper 80s. A nice day in the forecast. Ideal as far as the Holiday Weekend goes because we do have a change on the approach by tomorrow. Lehigh valley, 88 degrees by 3 00 p. M. And trending nicely for the entire day. So enjoy that. Lows for tonight also pretty mild, seeing lots of upper 60s. Philadelphia, 68. Coatesville at 63 and wilmington, your overnight low in the mid to upper 60s. A little breezy for tonight. The clouds will develop quickly. Ill show you right now on futurecast. This is what i was talking about earlier, the potential for localized flooding. Here you start to see the approach of the developing clouds moving in from the southeast. Thats because we do have that depression, tropical depression number two, due to make landfall along the South Carolina coastline. It will continue working northward. There is a low pressure system out west that will meet up with it, which is why were expecting heavier pockets of downpours. By sunday into monday, early monday morning, were seeing some yellows, oranges and even some reds, telling me that it looks like we have the threat for isolated thunderstorms. So possibly some severe weather, especially when you are talking about the potential for some any downed trees, the winds will get gusty and we have the potential for localized flooding. Everything starting to clear by tuesday, though we still may see sprinkles monday into tuesday late monday into tuesday. Your tenday looks like this. Not that great by monday. Tuesday notice the cooler temperatures as the cold front starts to dip on down. Otherwise, pick of the Holiday Weekend, of course, is today, so get on out there and enjoy. On this saturday i am joined by charlotte the kitten here who is now she is playing with my mike. She has taken to your microfoern. Tell us how charlotte came to you. She was found as a stray. She really likes it. She is very playful all of a sudden. She came to us as a stray several weeks ago now. Its really that season where kittens are all around. Kittens and their moms. So she was underweight at the time and went into poour Foster Care Program so get up to two pounds so she could be ready to be spayed and up for adoption. You mentioned this is the season for kittens not just for the pennsylvania spca but everywhere. Yes. We made a trip to act philly this week as well. Were trying to help them as much as we can. Pulled some moms and kittens. Their Maternity Ward was full. We try to partner as much as we can to get them out. Those kittens and moms will also have to go into foster care. Were asking people, you know, of course, if you want to adopt a kitten, we have plenty, but also, if youre not ready to have a pet fulltime, this is like probably a two, four, six weeks at the most commitment to keep the moms and kittens until they are ready to be spayed or neutered and ultimately adopted. I should mention that many spca employees like yourself, jillian, do a lot of the fostering after hours. Exactly. I actually have a foster dog with me at this time. We really see firsthand the dogs or cats who are in need, whether it be that theyre too young or they have a medical issue or theyre just stressed in the kennels and we want to make sure that were doing as much as we can for them while we can. So our Foster Program is so important. And yeah. So our employees do it a lot. Wed love as much help as we can get. Youre practicing what youre preaching. No offense for this weekend.
