Today we hope to learn more about the death of a philadelphia firefighter. The Department Says that gabriel lee died while on the job last night but he was not killed battling a blaze. Sources tell nbc 10 that lee was found unresponsive at Ladder Company 12 in north philly. He had been working the night shift. He went to Temple University hospital. Thats where doctors pronounced him dead just before 8 00 p. M. A motorcade of Fire Department and Police Department vehicles accompanied lees body along the schuylkill expressway as it was taken from temple to the medical Examiners Office. The Department Says his death is currently under investigation. In delaware county, firefighters there tell us they are taking some special precautions because of the heat. This is because of a cool front that moved through yesterday. That cold front was what fired off a couple of those isolated severe thunderstorms yesterday. Of course it was still very hot yesterday as well. And thats going to continue into today. Signs saying i am adopted started popping up on the cages in clayton yesterday. The animals seemed very ready for their new homes. Kittens and puppies a big hit but plenty of older animals found families yesterday. More than 1,000 pets in total all around the region were adopted. And notice what weve got scattered clouds mixing in with sunshine out there today. Not expecting even isolated showers or thunderstorms like we did end up seeing yesterday. 95 for ocean city. The republicans had their turn last week. This week the democrats are in the spotlight in philadelphia with their National Convention. Meet the press is in philly this morning. Plenty to talk about related to rnc. A few bumps in the road but after all was said and done, how did it all play out . I think at the end of the day it was a chaotic convention. A bit of a mess. I think missed opportunities. Monday, tuesday and wednesday. But then something changed with the ted cruz speech and in an odd way even though it was repudiation of trump, it backfired on cruz and seemed to rally the convention to trumps side in a way it hadnt rallied before and gave trump energy. His speech seemed to play well with enough republicans that it will give him a bump. He had an opportunity to get a decent bump out of this simply if he could win over republicans because there was a large chunk of republican undecided voters. If you look at it as that, as the score, did he get a bump out of his convention . He did. Thats the definition of having a successful convention. It was chaotic.
