Bernie sanders continuings his fight on the campaign trail despite a big loss to Hillary Clinton in the new york primary. Now his path to the nomination is looking increasingly more difficult and thats one of the topics on this mornings meet the press. Joining us now for a preview is moderator of meet the press chuck todd. Good morning, chuck. Good morning, katy. Thanks for joining us. Lets get right into it. With such a strong lead for clinton, does Bernie Sanders have an exit strategy here . I dont think he does but hes coming to grips with it. I had a facetoface with him, i drove up to baltimore to sit down with him and it was interesting because hes acknowledging the reality of the moment. He says its a very narrow path he has for the nomination and when i asked him okay, what does this look like if clinton is the nominee . What happens to your supporters. What happens to you . And he seems to he accepted that premise, that thats a possibility which is already thats one step to getting to your exit strategy, but what hes saying is that Hillary Clinton has work to do to earn the support to earn his supporters votes. That Hillary Clinton has a lot of work to do to prove that she will be a credible progressive and i think he believe she is hasnt done it yet and he knows he has the opportunity to have a movement that he could leave for quite some time but he hasnt figured out what it looks like yet and when he does i think well see the exit strategy being implemented. Thanks, chuck. Turning to the republicans, is the stop Trump Movement still as strong as it was or are they shifting their focus and could the Republican Party come to terms with donald trump before the convention . The stop Trump Movement is struggling and i think they did lose some important allies this week when the leadership of the Republican Party backed down from challenging trump. You had the chairman of the Republican Party saying he wouldnt support any rules changes for now in the nominating process. If youre not willing to do that, youre not willing to do whatever it takes to stop trump. Its an important moment for trump and a bad moment for the stop trump forces. Were seeing the five stages of groo grief play out and were on the fifth stage, acceptance. Not enthusiastic acceptance but resigned acceptance. Chuck todd thank you so much.
