To stay in bed. We have issued a first alert because of the rain and flooding. This is a live picture of beach avenue in cape may. The shore received the brunt of the storm overnight. Shore towns are dealing with quite a bit of flooding especially in those low lying areas. And we are tracking a system that will be with us through much of the day. Krystal klei has those details. We really lucked out with a dry wedge starting to move into our area. This has really cut those rain totals for some parts of south jersey, but the shore has not escaped the pounding. We see heavy rain for hours and hours now, more than 5 inches in some parts of our jersey shore line. And what were looking at now is the herriest bands fortunately are starting to get pushed offshore. But still a very steady rain that is continuing to fall and i think will for the next couple hours. So because of that, we all right have a Flash Flood Warning in place. In cape may, 3 to 4 inches is already reported and still a steady rain falling in that area. And also heavy rain throughout this area enough so that weve been able to pick this up with storm ranger 10. We deployed it this morning so we can get the closest look nearest to the ground. Remember the typical radar used acro across the region is set high on a pole so its getting a higher picture into the clouds. We put stornlg range estorm ran closer look to the ground. Still falling over cape may here down to north wildwood. But it is starting to weaken a bit at the southern most tip of cape may. Heavy rain is expected still through 8 00 this morning. The focus will be along the shore. And it will start to thin out by around 10 00 a. M. Well continue to time it out the rest of the day, talk about what you will see into sunday coming up. Lets show you what is happening out there right now. Our Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg is out along ventnor avenue in margate where the flooding has been happening for much of the morning, ted. Reporter it certainly has, you see the suv pulling into a parking lot, driving through lot of water. That person taking a risk and driving through. You can see it looks like a river at the moment. This is ventnor theyre washington and the water comes all the way across the street. At the moment it doesnt look like it is getting inside the store, but a lot of these shore communities that have storm grains that have a tough time keeping up with so much rain coming down, so quickly you see some folks left their cars out here on ventnor avenue and there is water up over the tires. And those folks will find out later today if there is any damage to those cars and if the water got inside. Take a look at some video in avalon. This is ocean drive. And you can see a similar situation there. People did not move their cars to Higher Ground and those cars are now parked in floodwater. And its not just on streets. Take a look at have i donvideo mond Hillary Montgomery sent. The water you can see has gotten inside her house. She says it is now in all of the rooms of her house there. Just off commonwealth in strathmere. Her dog there, too, dealing with some of that high water. Back here live in margate, an suv from the Fire Department going through the flooding. And every time those cars and trucks go through, it creates waves and so the water gets closer to the buildings. If you dont have to go out and 00 you are he youre here along the shore, if you can stay off the roads, that is the best advice. Ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. And you can always get the latest weather updates with the nbc 10 app. You can use and see our interactive radar, plus you can customize this first alert neighborhood forecast for where you live. Now to that breaking news weve been following out of camden. Several people are hurt following this house fire along morton street. We know children are among the injured. Randy gyllenhaal is live in camden for us at Cooper University hospital. Reporter the victims within transported here, officials are telling us that in the coming hours fire investigators will want to speak with them to figure out how this fire started. Lets show you some video. It happened overnight, twin row homes going up in flames in camden on morton street. Firefighters say five or six people were inside including both children and adults. Camden firefighters actually ran into the burning buildings making rescues and taking the family inside to the hospital. It was chaotic when the company arrived, a lot of people out here, they had to do a lot of things to get in operation. As far as the rescues, well have to interview all the guys. Its still very early in the fire, only been under control for a little bit of time right now. The good news, that twoalarm fire is under control. The fire marshal now on scene investigating. Right now they dont have a cause, but they say at this point it does not appear suspicion. We do know that there were working smoke detectors inside the house. Randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. New from overnight, police in newark, delaware are searching for two men who robbed and shot an an he wiehe wi appl restaurant employee. What led to the resignation of the chief of staff. And another Ballistic Missile test and some experts believe the u. S. Is in striking range. Were starting with a look at our satellite and radar view, honing in on the yellow, oranges, reds. They are now barely offshore. This is a very good sign. Now, the storm center is a little to the south, row stating around here. And its keeping that moisture up. Notice the back side is starting to pull away, that is well off to our west. And that means that the rain is thinning out over parts of north and west suburbs and even philadelphia and the dry air wedge is forcing the heavier rain off the shore line. But still steady falling through cape may, Atlantic County. So a closer look here, still half an inch per hour falling near parts of cape may in the yellow. The green now is more about a third of an inch per hour. So it is starting to weaken some. But weve already had reports well over three inches over the shore line. This yellow you see is the heaviest rain still pointing Atlantic City and up to toms river, but pemberton which an hour ago were getting heavy rain, but its stopped there. So this is a good sign. Estimated rain totals based offer of radar, huge numbers. Right around 5 inches near galloway township, samity Atlantic City airport. Over 2 inches along the shore line as we go down kaim cape may and the southern most tip, over 3 inches there. Ive been checking storm reports and these numbers look correct because weve been seeing between 2 and 5 inches reported. We have flooding reports through parts of Atlantic County, right a few over Cape May County and just now a report came in of basements flooding and water rescues occurring near millville. So this has been a south jersey event as expected. Well talk about when this all dries out and the sun returns coming up. Cant come soon enough. Thank you. Coming up, valet violence. Overseas north Korean Leader kim jongun says the launch of an intercontinental Ballistic Missile earlier today shows that his country can hit the u. S. Yesterday organizers delivered the petition to a federal representative of the commission and to the army corps of engineers. You can tell what a difference it makes neighborhood by neighborhood. So live here in philadelphia, some breaks in the clouds and what well see today still mostly cloudy conditions, but some sun breaking through from time to time especially in the Late Afternoon hours where i think we might start to see a little more sun moving through. On our radar and satellite view, look at the difference here. Its a lighter rain north, still a steady rain right against the jersey shore which is the area that has just been pounded the whom morning. There is the dry air wedge that has been slicing into our viewing zone and really cleared us out quickly for areas like new castle county, camden and into gloucester county. That was very good because those were the zones where it took almost no rain for flooding to start occurring and they just didnt see too terribly much, about half an inch in areas around there. That was low enough that we didnt really get any flooding reports there. Very good news. So lets start north through parts of the suburbs, king of prussia, over to buckingham, just a light rain lingering in the north half of philadelphia. South half of philadelphia, drying out. So this is a very nice picture for us. But you get to the shore, into the good day at the shore. Still a steady to in some spots heavy rain falling. About a third of an inch an hour. These are areas where reports of 2 to 5 inches have already come in, so when you have that kind of rain, piled on top of ground that is already saturated from last weekends rain, that flooding occurred very easily over these areas. So there are the flood reports that have come out through Atlantic County, through Cape May County, and even into Cumberland County early on this morning around midnight to 1 00 a. M. , we had reports of basements being flooded out as well as water rescues occurring because of how heavy the rain was coming in. Hour by hour model here, starting to thin out the heaviest rain as you see pushing offshore through 8 00 a. M. , still some of that action though especially over Atlantic County. Now, this computer model does not do a nice job of showing off that dry wedge, so i dont think this will occur. But i think it is correct in showing the heavy rain starting to break from 8 00 to 11 00 a. M. This morning. So just spottier showers and pockets of heavier rain still possible through our morning hours. But really thinning here in the next two hours or so. Then we go into the afternoon, mostly cloudy, but some breaks of sunlight out there and just spot showers do linger along the jersey shore. But at that point, a lot of roadways, creeks i think will have swelled and washed out. Wind gusts 30 to 35 Miles Per Hour today, so we will stay windy especially along the shore where gusts up to 40 Miles Per Hour have already been reported. And take a look at the forecast highs. Mid to upper 70s for philadelphia, low to mid70s for the suburbs and Lehigh Valley and mid70s as well for parts of new jersey. Low 70s at the shore and low mid70s over delaware. Were at the hospital and were talking to investigators. New this morning, making moves. The phils finalized a late night trade that sends one of the top pitchers to another team. Good morning. This is nbc 10 news today. Thanks for being with us. Im rosemary connors. Its 6 30. Doesnt look too bad here in philadelphia, just rainy and dreary this morning. Its a different scene at the shore. The heavy rain has been with us through much of the overnight hours. Margate is dealing with brunt of the flooding. This is a live look, you can see the floodwaters in the streets. Well show that to you in just a moment. And also we have a live picture of cape may to beach avenue. This area hit heavy with rain. Beach area not looking too bad, its really the low lying streets that are picking up a lot of the high waters. Krystal klei has some rain totals. And these are from the official reporting stations. So i did the math really quick. So far almost 5 1 2 inches of rain at the Atlantic City airport. Cape may, 4. 3 inches. And millville in new jersey at 2 1 2 inches so far. In wilmington and philadelphia, look at the difference. The shore really has taken the brunt ofthe biggest struggle there. The dry wedge has cut out the rain from burlington to new castle county, but it cant force the steady to heavy rain off of the shore line. So the deep green is still a very steady rain falling and as a result Cape May County is under a Flash Flood Warning. Already a handful of flood reports have come in. And typically reports dont come in and post until after the event itself. So not surprising that we are not seeing all of the airports i expect to see later on. Storm ranger 10 in south jersey, remember it shoots the radar beam right from the ground which gives you the closest picture to what is happening right at the surface. And its still a very steady rain from cape may courthouse up to strathmere, but notice the rain is starting to thin out over cape may and wildwood. And that is a good sign. Well track out when the rain moves out entirely. And the sunday forecast looks so much better. As we mentioned, margate is seeing a lot of the flooding and that is where Ted Greenburg is live for us. Reporter margate and many other Barrier Islands communities dealing with high water this morning. We are along ventnor between washington and adams and you can see it is under water. There is a car coming down the street right now. That driver is taking a chance driving right through. It is raining. Its not raining as hard as it has been overnight, but inches and inches of rain will do this. Storm trains just cannot keep up with so much water so quickly. You can see some folks left their cars parked here and now the water is up over the tires. We have some video from Cape May County, as well. A similar scene along ocean drive. You can see people there also parked their cars for the night, left them there and then the water came up around those cars. High water there in avalon. Seeing similar images from sea ill city, aislill isle city,. In strathmere, water has filled up the streets there. And take a look at what has happened inside Hillary Montgomerys place. The water has come inside. There is water on the floor. Her dog is dealing with that, as well. And she says that the water really came into every single room in her place. So now she is faced with the task of trying to clean up the mess. This is what happens when inches and inches come down quickly. As i said, these Barrier Island communities have storm drains, but when there is so much rain, the drains have a tough time grank the water back into the bay. Im ted greengreenberg, nbc 10 sflp y. You know the shore like anyone else. So give us some perspective. Youve seen noreasters, hurricanes, serious storms. Where does this fit into that mix . Reporter definitely tough to get around, but ive seen worse. And people are saying its not as bad as a bad authorize easter or hurricane, nothing like sandy or anything. You have to remember this is from heavy rain. Often coastal storms were also dealing with tidal 234r5floodint that is 234509 the case this time. This is because so much rain came down so quickly. So again, 2tough to get around. You dont want to drive through the flooding, but weve seen worse. All right. Ted greenberg, thank you for that. Now breaking news out of camden. Several people are hurt after flames ripped through this house. Children are among the injured. Randy gyllenhaal is live at Cooper University hospital to fill us in on what happened there. Reporter we know there were multiple injuries. Authorities say some were serious. The victims were taken here to Cooper University hospital in camden. This overnight fire taking two row homes out, going up in flames. This was on morton street. Firefighters tell us five or six people were inside one of the row homes including both children and adults. Camden if firefighters ran into the building to make some rescues. The cause remains unknown at this point, though Officials Say it does not appear suspicion at this time. We wont normally have a suspicion fire when you have occupied structures like this. With that many people being at home. They do have smoking work detectors. We did hear them. Reporter and the fire was under control a few hours ago. Right now the fire marshal on scene here in camden trying to determine a cause. And were told investigators do want to speak with some of those victims who are still in the hospital here to try to figure out how this started. Live in camden, randy gyllenhaal, nbc 10 news. Thank you, randy. Staring in camden, its one of three communities where a push to get guns offer the streets continues today. New jersey is hosting buy backs. People walked out with cash no questions asked. The sports wheeling and dealing. Still ahead, who is coming and who is going. Plus its race weekend in the poconos. Well have a preview of the popular nascar event. Welcome back. First alert radar is showing what weve been discussing all morning. The dry air wedge will come in and then out the rain north and west and even over much of south jersey. Now its really pushings rain all the way out of delaware. So this is a good sign. We did not want more rain and as expected the heaviest stuff is stuck over the shore. Still some light rain falling over parts of the suburbs. Even Mercer County a little steady near trenton. But the heaviest action is all along the shore and its not nearly as heavy as it was say two hours ago. So instead just pockets of yellow. The deep green is that steady rain, about a third of an inch an hour falling and this has been going for several hours. So those totals are still fairly high and it lasts up through ocean county, as well. It will stick there i think for still a couple more hours, but it will start to break apart, too. Here is a look at the estimated rain totals so far. About 5 inches in parts of Atlantic County, 2 1 2 inches near parts of Cape May County, but the southern most tip closer to 3 1 2 inches. Ive been adding up some of the numbers and these numbers look spot on. So you can really see where the heaviest amounts were. They cut through parts of Cumberland County theyre salem into kent and lower half of new castle county, but check this out, wilmington, philadelphia, areas north, only about half an inch. And way north, allentown, nothing. Hasnt reported any rain so far today. That is what neighborhood weather is all about. The next several hours at the shore, this will be the worst off location. Were at 72 right now. I think well stay at about the low to mid70s all day long. We will continue with heavier rain through about 10 00 but the heaviest is starting to shift offshore, so were getting more spotty showers through about 2 00 p. M. , well remain mostly cloudy with the spot showers and windy as well. Notice the wind speeds about 25 Miles Per Hour, but gusts 35 to 40 Miles Per Hour possible at the shore. Today a linger shot spohower in the afternoon, and sunday looks much better. Well talk about the sunday forecast coming up. Do you remember when the pope came to philadelphia about two years ago to visadvice visi . Some enjoyed the freedom of walking, biking free from traffic. And guess what . As for your pets, the zoo director says cats and dogs may think its nighttime and there is increased chance they will curl up for a nap. We start with our view of the radar. The yellows and oranges are offshore, but most of the area now even into parts of Atlantic County have started to dry out. This dry air wedge is forcing the moisture out on top of the fact that the storm center itself is starting to move away from us. That will keep us windy, but it will help to dry us out especially by the afternoon hours. So well start north just a few sprinkles over parts of upper bucks, montgomery and then down into parts of philadelphia. King of prussia to burlington, Burlington County itself, just nice conditions out there as we go through to the shore. So were not trauking any heavy rain anymore, but we are still tracking the steady rain along the jersey shore. Not as heavy though. Still about third of an inch and pockets of yellow that you see over Atlantic County and then a little over tenth of an inch near the Atlantic City airport. Much better off than the over an inch per hour rate that we were looking at a couple hours ago. That has moved just a bit to the southeast and is now off the shore line. As we pull it out wider, the green boxes are all flooding reports. They are all over the place from atlantic to Cape May County, cumberland to kent and sussex county. These are the areas that we said would be the focus of the first alert. And these are the areas where we have gotten all the flood alerts. Still likely more will come in as we progress through the day. Mostly cloudy as we continue on. I think some peaks of sun in the afternoon are possible for philadelphia and well make to the mid to spot upper 70s for highs. Low to mid70s in the suburbs. Mostly cloudy, but again i think Late Afternoon some sun breaking through. Especially in the Lehigh Valley which is farthest away from the heavier bands of rain. In delaware, were looking at mostly dry conditions especially for late day we could start to see some of that rain still edge along the southern portions of delaware. In new jersey, some spot showers are possible into the afternoon. And especially along the shore, some spot showers possible with those temperatures in the low 70s through this afternoon. As we go through the day, it will be quite windy. Gusts around 35 Miles Per Hour with up to 40 miles an hour even a little above right against the jersey shore. And our weekend high temps, they are in the 70s today. Tomorrow we have sunshine returning across the board and low 80s. Actually after he said we have to teach little man some better form, but aggression is there. That is your look at sports. Enjoy your saturday. Lets take a look at the radar.
