Region also received a light dusting. In montgomery county, less snow, more rain and sleet. A viewer sent us this video of some frozen precipitation clinging to a car. You may find your wind shield wipers slightly stuck when you head out this morning. Thats what i woke up to. High winds hit the region standard. Strong gusts knocked down trees and power lines leaving thousands in the dark. Many of those outages are now thick with the power back online. Lets check in with krystal klei keeping a close eye on the first alert radar. Krystal . Rosemary. This is still very active forecast. You step out the door, it will not feel the same as it did yesterday. Do not dress the same. Prepare for the cold conditions. Radar and satellite showing while were clear currently, looks like what were in store for is some light snow to clip the northern parts of our area as this conditions to track along the east. Even in the suburbs, some snow may pick up a little rain snow mix. This is really breaking apart as it starts to move this way. Isolated at best but we are tracking out there this morning. Current wind gusts were looking at. Obviously still strong, not as strong as they were last night with the passing of that front. Right around 25 to 30 Miles Per Hour over much of the board. And i do expect these wind gusts are going to continue to boost up as we move through the later portion of your morning and into your afternoon. Already, it feels cold out there. 16 degrees what it feels like due to these winds and mount pocono and 28 in pottstown. Philadelphia feeling like 31. But i think over the next couple hours were going to see these numbers get just a bit more so its going to be feeling even cooler than it actually is here with these temperatures. 30 in wilmington and northeast philadelphia, the same. 27 in lancaster. And 30 for atlantic city. So, when youve got high winds and youve got cool air in place, it makes it feel on your skin like its much cooler than it actually is. Meaning, that while we see temperatures around the 30s right now for feelslike were actually in some areas in the 40s. Thats the problem. Later today were going to make it to the mid 40s, and stop. But because of Winds Continuing through the afternoon it will continue to feel very cool out there for runners, like those that are going to be going to the philadelphia marathon. So, lets talk about the philadelphia marathon. We have Deanna Durante out near the starting line on the parkway. Were going to head over to her and take a closer look at the conditions out there, and what runners can expect as we move along today. Well, it is chilly. It is windy. Some of the runners tell me its the winds that have them concerned not the actual temperature because theyll be running they say the wind is whats going to impact their time. Im talking live here with craig curley. You are from tucson, arizona. One of the elite runners in the race. Welcome to philadelphia. And our weather. Oh, its great. Im really happy to be here. My first time in fill if i. How will the weather impact you and your time . In terms of if the wind is ahead of us, headon, it makes it a lot colder. But if its at our backs you cant really feel the goldness. So it will be different in different areas as the course goes. But, for the most part, its really fun to be running with people. Well thanks so much for joining us. Good luck. Whats the time youre trying to get to today . Today i think a winning time would be around 2 15, 2 16. And i really want to shoot for that, and try to go for overall win. Thank you so much. 2 15, 2 16. That would be about quarter after 9 00 this morning because the race starts at 7 00 a. M. Good luck. Well see you at the finish line. Thanks for your time. Take a look at whats on the runners in the Half Marathon had to contend with yesterday. It was a completely different picture. We had bright, sunny and warm skies yesterday atd runners in the Half Marathon took to the course here. The starting line is just behind me and its been so windy they havent been able to put up the starting line banner just yet. Were told its going to be right here on the parkway. Just underneath the flag of japan. So well be bringing you the race start live just after 7 00 a. M. And again, elite runners hope to finish up within two hours, two hours 15 minutes or so. So after 9 00 this morning on a very chilly november day. Reporting live on the parkway, Deanna Durante, nbc 10 news. Thanks, deanna. Live look outside right now in center city. Look at the flag just whipping in the wind. Now, winds right now are pretty strong. Not as strong as they were last night when the cold front passed and not as strong as theyre going to become a little later today. So do expect that the worst is yet to come in terms of your winds. As for your temperatures, it is certainly cold out there. And it feels even worse due to the winds. So this is a look at the actual current wind speeds that were dealing with. Not your wind gusts, which are the periodic stronger winds, but the actual sustained, consistent winds youre going to notice stepping out the door. Most of them right around that 10 to 20mileperhour range. That doesnt sound terrible but then you factor in the wind gusts up to about 35 Miles Per Hour this morning. And youre going to notice that certainly ladies, dont need to do your hair, step out the door, and if you can make plans indoors today because its going to be cold all day long. If youre in the northern parts of our viewing area early on this morning you may see a few snowflakes again. What were looking at is the backside of that system that already brought us some precipitation off to the east of us. The backside now may clip the northern parts of us. So that means again, some light showers, or snow showers, rather, moving throughout the area. Looking at philadelphia, not likely that well see much, if anything, maybe a very brief mix but overall temperatures remain in the 40s throughout the entire day. Were looking at temperatures only making it to mid 40s in the afternoon. Wind speeds actually strengthen in your afternoon. To about gusts of 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. And the winds dont stop there. It focused on Treatment Options and Recovery Support 78 people die every day from opioid overdose. Thats according to a u. S. Surgeon general report just released this past week. Now your nbc 10 first alert weather. Starting out with a look at our temperatures near philadelphia neighborhoods. Again, a little deceptive here because the actual temperatures versus the feelslike temperature. The feels like is what it feels like to your skin as you step out the door because of how high the winds are. And as we know from last night the winds are high today. Were looking at our temperatures right now in philadelphia area. Right around the upper 30s to close to 40 degrees. Center city at 40. Andorra at 38 degrees. We see areas like bustleton, fox chase at 40. Now if you want to know how it feels outside. Detract about ten. Upper 20s to right around the low 30s. For current feelslike condition and it doesnt help if those winds are going to be smacking you right in the face as you step outside. Winds pushing in from the west this morning because the cold front came in from the west and the storm system has passed us but the backside still affecting us. So pumping those winds right over us. Heres a look at your future feelslike temperatures. We start this morning. Thats what i was talking about. Mid, upper 20s for what we should see through right around 6 00 to 8 00 this morning. As we move along through your Morning Hours and into your afternoon, we dont get a lot better. Were looking at low mid 30s for what it will feel like through your afternoon. Thats because actual temperatures will be in the low mid 40s. So again, rather, subtract 10 and youll know what it should feel like outside. Feeling like 30s in the afternoon. Not the best conditions. We go overnight into your monday morning, same deal again. Were looking like feeling about the mid 20s out there. And as we continue on through monday afternoon, winds will actually still be strong monday, even. So, again, it will feel very chilly. Thats 4 00 monday afternoon. Feeling like those 30s yet again. So this is going to be a repeat over the next couple of days. Feeling very cold because of how cool this system is. So, you can see that the precipitation thats already passed us is now toward the northeast. Look at the back side here. Still a lot of snow throughout parts of pennsylvania, and that is actually wrapping around this location. So, that means it should start to track our direction. I would not be surprised here if we start to see just some light snow clip the northern part of our viewing area. Im not talking accumulation or even anything heavy at points, this would be very light, if any. So a lot of models are saying no this isnt going to happen. But were looking at just a very isolated potential throughout these areas for some spotty snow showers to move through. Heres a look at your neighborhood temperature. 45 degrees for center city, 44 in lansdale. Allentown at 43. Cloudy, to mostly cloudy throughout maybe just a peek of sunshine. Atlantic city at 48. And 47 for smyrna. Isolated chance of a spot shower near parts of delaware. This also isolated but with temperatures a little higher this would be rain versus snow overall today we should stay mostly on the dry side but very cool throughout. Well talk about the tenday forecast coming up. See you shortly, thanks krystal. Americas most advanced Weather Satellite is now in orbit. Meteorologist krystal klei has more in our first alert neighborhood forecast. All right, krystal. How long is it going to be with us . Man i wish i could say it will be out by later today. That is not the case. Were under a first alert big temperature change and its something were going to feel day after day. For today all neighborhoods will feel the effects of that system that passed us overnight. That cold front of course really picked up winds. So through today, we are tra tracking afternoon wind gusts still strong. 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. And because of that, feeling like only the mid 30s for high temperatures. Well actually see highs up to the mid 40s. Because of how high winds will be, it will feel considerably cooler out there. Thats why we put that first alert into effect today. Yesterday we had a high of 72 degrees. That wont happen today. Here are your temperatures right now. 29 degrees mount pocono, 40 philadelphia. Dover at 39. Those were your temperatures, though. Look at your feelslike temperatures. Mid 20s for coatesville. 29 for trenton. Vineland the same. 31 in philadelphia. Atlantic city feeling like 30 degrees outside. So you really will notice the difference as you step out the door, because weve got those winds just hitting you, cutting through maybe your jacket, and the cool air in place. Its going to feel very cold. Very wintry as you step out this morning. So if you can, maybe stay inside. Here are the actual current wind gusts that were looking at. Mostly right around the mid upper 20s to low 30s. For the wind speeds now. But these gusts are going to strengthen as we move through the later part of the day. And on top of that, radar and satellite shows us that while most of us from actually just seeing some clouds, even some breaks in clouds, meaning a little sunshine now starting to peek through, the northern most part of our area may start to see some very light, spotty snow showers. Thats something well continue to track. Well talk more about that potential as well as a look at those temperatures over the next several days. Thats coming up in a few minutes. What a tease. Thanks for that. Runners, theyre going to have to bundle up, add some layers as they cope with the drop in temperatures today during the philadelphia marathon. We train through the summer so this is a little different. But they said they trained and they were not about to miss the marathon no matter the wind, or the cold temperatures. That race is getting set off here in just less than a half an hour at this point. Reporting live along the parkway Deanna Durante, nbc 10 news. Thanks deanna. Well see you in 30 minutes. Temperatures in the 40s. But, meteorologist krystal klei tells us it actually feels golder than that. Feels like its freezing out there. Thats right. This morning i dusted off the big coat. You might want to do the same if you havent done it yet because today is a day thats going to feel cold the entire day. Looking right now in new jersey neighborhoods and these temperatures are looking mostly in the upper 30s. Doesnt sound terrible above freezing but it feels below freezing out there as rosemary just mentioned because the wind and how strong they are no matter where you go throughout our region. Right now audubon at 39. Vorhees at 38. Florence at 39. Robinsville at 39. A lot of temperatures in the upper 30s. Thats actually the case through a lot of our forecasting zone. But, take about 10 degrees off that for what it feels like outside due to those winds. It does not help when you Step Outdoors and have that wind smacking you in the face. Especially if youre going to be doing something where youll be moving in a west direction because thats where the winds are coming from. Weve been speaking with different marathon runners from the philadelphia marathon, saying thats what theyre most concerned about. And it is a big concern. Throughout the whole morning windy conditions at 37 degrees 7 00 a. M. , 10 0041, and by noon 44 degrees. Although that doesnt sound terribly cold the fact is with these winds at around 30 to 40 Miles Per Hour through the morning run its going to feel way colder for these runners and theyre going to have to at some points on the track deal with these winds against them. Thats something theyll have to deal with throughout all of the morning run. Looking at your forecast winds for today about 20 to 30 Miles Per Hour. Thats across the board. That in itself wouldnt be too rough but those are the sustained winds meaning constant. Gusts, the bursts of higher winds, pick up 40 to 50 Miles Per Hour. That is some serious wind gusts were talking about. In fact, thats certainly enough to cause more damage again today.
