Delaware which was expected saw the worst of it, and this morning on radar and satellite, we have isolated spotty showers in washington, d. C. And maryland and central to western portions of pennsylvania. Then clouds hanging over our viewing zone. And theres the next round of heavy rain, showers, thunderstorms, may clip parts of the shore. Not there yet. What we are looking at currently is just clouds and temperatures that are only in the 50s with a breeze. More on temperatures in a second. Cloudy and cool conditions, a live look outside. It is dark, clouds are low. Some of those taller buildings in center city, cant even see the tops again and fog is possible through today. Also still breezy conditions today with on and off rain throughout the area expected. Heres a look at temperatures were currently sitting at. 58 in philadelphia, 59 in wilmington, lancaster at 57 degrees. Upper 40s in mount pocono with 49, Atlantic City 62. Cape may is currently 66 for the temperature. Dover in the mid60s. Some of us are higher than others. Areas like dover, not seeing a ton more warming later in the day because of cloud coverage and rain cooled air. When you see that, what we are dealing with is low warming throughout the afternoon. By tomorrow thats a different story. Tomorrow thats when you see temperatures catch up, breaks of sunshine and slowly drying out. The forecast is better on the bottom of the screen. We are going to talk more about the sevenday forecast throughout and the ten day forecast in philadelphia, thats coming up in a few minutes. Patrons of the philadelphia orchestra had to settle for an outside serenade with musicians going on strike opening night. The walk out came before the start of the orchestra season. All concerts for this weekend are cancelled. They put down instruments and picked up picket signs. The labor union voted to strike after salary talks with orchestra leadership struck a sour note. Years of pay cuts put their salaries well below ork stras in other cities. Patrons were in their seats when they learned the first concert had been cancelled. We kind of looked at each other, is this a joke . We have a multi year offer on the table that will cant underestimate the value of the musicians, what they bring to our city. Happening today, thousands expected to pack a Memorial Service for two wilmington firefighters killed in the line of duty. As you know, he personally shared condolences with firefighters at the scene of a home on lakeview road a week ago. This is the scene when thousands gathered for a Public Service for lieutenant Christopher Leach. The service for firefighter jerry fickes was private. He rushed into the burning home to rescue leach. Absolutely love firefighters. At a time like this, they truly understand the gravity of what the men and women are willing to give up to keep folks safe. Reporter two firefighters who survived are still recovering at the hospital. He confessed to setting fire to the house, told investigators she was drunk and angry. She was charged with about 14 different offenses. Two include first degree murder. More firefighters will arrive to begin the final tribute to two fallen brothers. We have seen the soggy, dreary days because of that storm system to the west of us and pumping up in all of that moisture. So much moisture that the last few days is a constant miss at some points in the day, and fog is hanging over even through the afternoon hours, not burning off the sun because we havent been seeing much sunshine. What we are looking at now, same situation. We have scattered showers sitting off mostly now barely to the west of us back into harrisburg and farther to the west. Then we see this area of a little more impressive storms that we see here, what is moving around is just now over the sea, kind of pushing barely to the northeast. Cloud cover to start the morning. We take a closer look, not yet tracking rain. I wouldnt be surprised in the next half hour to hour we see spot showers right along the shore. Thats what we will start the morning with. Overnight a category five. Still a major hurricane, a category four, winds of 155 Miles Per Hour. This is the projected path. Heres the issue, by tuesday morning, still over 100 Miles Per Hour winds and were looking past jamaica, haiti, into cuba. That continues through cuba, now nearing the bahamas. By wednesday, around 100 Miles Per Hour winds in that projected forecast. And this just continues. We will be watching this through the week and it may effect our forecast. Currently not tropical moisture but still seeing moisture. Showers to the west now and directly to our south, with cloud coverage overhead for us. If you look at another one of the planners, now in the lehigh valley, we are tracking today another cloudy, cool, breezy day ahead. 54 is where we are now. 60 around lunchtime and low to mid60s for forecast high temperatures. This morning, hearing new concerns from neighbors that witness a Deadly Police shooting in philadelphia. Nbc10 learned that nine officers fired more than 100 times when they killed a stabbing suspect in cobbs creek wednesday. Police confronted him, he ignored commands to take his hands out of his pocket. Authorities say they thought he had a gun after he attacked five people, including his own children. One neighbor described the scene. I was amazed. I heard the shots and it was unbelievable. I actually looked out the window and saw the markers where casings were. Never saw anything like that. These are row homes. Officers will receive more training. Police havent found a gun they believe the suspect was carrying. Start with radar and satellite view. Nice and wide. Showing the storm center itself sits well to the west. We need this to move. It is stuck in place. Doesnt look like it will be moving much today. Still a cloudy forecast ahead for us. Look at areas that are south of us. We have this area of rain here. That may clip the shore, but it is creeping to the northeast. We also have a line of showers and thunderstorms that sits directly to the south. That likely will bring some rain as we move along late morning. Looking way to the south, strong showers and thunderstorms sitting south of north carolina. That leads to isolated shower activity late day and even into sunday, some spot storms are possible. For now this morning things are okay to get outside. It is cool and breezy but cloudy. Were not tracking the rain, some fog or light drizzle mist may be present outside in areas not picking up on radar. The hour by hour forecast shows as you move through the morning, 7 30, good job of showing us where showers currently sit which is barely to the west of us. Put this in motion at 7 30 in the morning to 3 00 in the afternoon. Now we have a line of storms pressing along in parts of new jersey and along the shore, into delaware as well. Delaware has been inundated with water, talking very large values. 8 to 12 inches of rain in some areas of suffolk county. New castle county seeing a good amount as well. There you see maybe thunderstorms popping up by 3 00 in the afternoon through 5 00. Still breaking up, not as widespread and constant as what we have seen the last couple days, but the possibility remains through your saturday into the overnight as well. Then we move into sunday morning and you see were not tracking nearly as good a chance of rain. We will still see clouds on sunday, chances of showers of more isolated through 7 00 on sunday. Switching gears to Hurricane Matthew, category four hurricane, it was category five overnight. 5 00 a. M. Update dropping it a tad, but it is still a major hurricane. This is a satellite view showing strength and massive size. Projections are to track to the north, meaning effecting caribbean islands and from there florida. Take a look. This is just a possibility from friday, saturday, into sunday we may see the path nearing parts of the midatlantic and new england area. Again, spaghetti plots, shows you many of the possibilities. It is a wide range at this point. This isnt a guarantee, but it may bring us rain by the end of next week into the weekend. So today it is all about the rain, on off saturday, temperature of 69.
