If you walk out the door youre going to feel some mist, it is muggy and its already warm outside. Lets get right to meteorologist karen thomas for our new neighborhood weather, a detailed forecast on where you live. Good morning, katy. Good morning, everyone. Yes, waking up this saturday morning this is the sort of weather outside where you say forget the hair because its so humid outside. I dont know what your hair does in the humidity but mine tends to go very big. 74 degrees right now in philadelphia,. 4 in wilmington. We are looking for temperatures especially in the city to be jumping back to the 90, 91 degree mark today as we go ahead and check additional temperatures, not much relief up here in the lehigh valley, 71 degrees early this morning, 74 in delaware and 73 degrees in south jersey. Temperatures mainly in the 70s. Weve got this easterly flow but not really cooling things off as we start out early this morning. We do have plenty of humidity around. Just a lot of moisture in the air. A couple hours ago we watched a large rain cell move off of the south jersey coastline. As we take it out you can see we just have some scattered shower activity up here to the north, just west of allentown, cold front is building, will sweep through today moving west to east and it could bring us some continued scattered shower activity with the possibility of some late day thunderstorms rolling through. It looks like we will have mainly sunny skies in southern delaware at the beaches as well as south jersey today, but a large part of the area should be shrouded in clouds. Were looking for sun and clouds as we make our way through our saturday, but were looking at the radar picture here and right now we had some thunder and lightning strikes up here in the North Central part and that is waning. Now the latest on the deadly ambush of Police Officers by a sniper in dallas. The Homeland Security secretary says the alleged shooter does not appear to be linked to international terrorism. The mayor of dallas said the suspect acted alone and the city is now safe. The apparent gunman was killed by police during a standoff. Thursday nights attack during a peaceful protest against Police Violence killed five officers and wounded seven others, plus two civilians. About 1,000 protesters marched through Downtown Phoenix late last night. Think chanted black lives matter and hands up, dont shoot. They were demonstrating against this weeks Police Shootings of africanamerican men in two dates. Dozens of Police Officers initially escorted the group but after scuffles broke up they set up a barricade and shot tear gas. A similar protest filled the streets of philadelphia last night. You can see the street congestion there from our Kimmel Center campus camera. Most of the crowd vented their frustration over the deadly Police Shootings of africanamerican men in louisiana and minnesota this week. One of the reals organizers is hoping to build closer ties between police and the black community. Were trying to force the hand of the commissioner to bridge the gap between our communities and them. They have to do it. Not just say it. The demonstration was peaceful. It ended just after midnight and police did not have to make any arrests. Well, in just about a half hour from now there will be a prayer session at the American Methodist Episcopal Church convention in center city, philadelphia. Monique braxton is live at the pennsylvania Convention Center. Yesterday Hillary Clinton spoke to members of that church organization, what did she talk about . Reporter hi, katy. Secretary clinton came here to speak to the ame bishops as well as the delegates during their buy centennial convention. She had two messages for them yesterday. First she called for major change in the nations policing after two deadly officerinvolved shootings of black men. Clinton also asked people to support their police departments. This followed a day after a sniper killed five officers in dallas, including a transit officer. When she concluded her messagem to the thousands we spoke to those attending. We must not vilify Police Officers. Remember what those officers were doing when they died. They were protecting a peaceful march. I think we do need to come together to find some way to heal this nation. Reporter now, every four years a candidate attends this convention. The ame folks told us they did reach out to mr. Trump and he did not respond. This morning the ame delegates are to gather for what theyre calling an extraordinary hour of prayer. We hope to talk to them as they head into the Convention Center. The Presumptive Republican nominee, donald trump, who released a video statement in response to the deadly attack in dallas, he offered prayers to the victims and their families. A brutal attack at our police force is an attack on our country and an attack on our families. We must stand in solidarity with Law Enforcement which we must remember is the force between civilization and total chaos. In light of the dallas ambush trump canceled a Campaign Event in miami with Chris Christie scheduled for yesterday. Police here at home say theyre making changes following the deadly ambush in dallas. Philadelphia Police Say Officers will now work in teams of two. The commissioner said his department is looking at how it handles protests. Transit police are leaving assignments up to supervisors. Local leaders tell nbc 10 they are still coming to grips with what happened in dallas. Seeing those Police Officers being pinned down, first of all, not knowing what theyre dealing with, which is absolutely scary. And police are expected to coordinate with the secret service to plan for protests during the Democratic National convention in philadelphia later this month. New this morning a man is in the hospital following a row home fire in philadelphias cobbs creek neighborhood. The fire began just after 1 00 this morning. A neighbor says she woke up, saw the flames spreading to the porches of nearby homes and sprang into action. I began banging on peoples doors. The fire began spreading really fast so i ran from house to house and the fire just followed me. None of the neighbors was hurt. The American Red Cross is checking to see if any of those families need assistance or a place to stay. Right now theres no word on the mans condition or what started the fire. New Jersey Police arrested the driver that they say is responsible for a hit and run crash that was caught on video that killed the cousin of ben simmons. Police say Mark Nicholas of brooklyn, new york, was driving an suv through hoboken on june 25th when he allegedly hit 21yearold zachary simmons. The victim had been with his cousin ben simmons just days before the crash when the 76ers drafted him as the number one pick. Well, another day of the heat and humidity. Waking up this morning if you were to step outside early you will feel that heat and humidity and the potential is there for some scattered late day thunderstorms. Temperatures mainly in the 70s this Early Saturday Morning with the exception of trenton, theres the cool spot, 69 degrees. 74 in philadelphia, 73 degrees right now in vineland. But we do have very humid conditions out there and were staying in the heat in terms of the city anyway. High temperature expected today in philadelphia, 91 degrees. Of course, above average. And weve been that way since wednesday. Boy, hopefully everybody found a nice cool spot, maybe swimming pool, air conditioned place over the last couple of days because these are the temperature readings and we did hit 94 thursday, 94 yesterday and we are looking for another hot one today in philadelphia. But come tomorrow some considerable changes in the way its going to feel outside so were going to have a dip in the humidity and check the bottom of your screen for your sevenday forecast. The Organization Says its seen an unusual spike in cats coming in and the fourth of july weekend was also a slow time for them for adoptions. Coming up, a boy shot during a road rage incident in hunting park this week is home. And he tells us what he remembers about the moment the bullet hit him. Police officers across the country are reflecting on the dallas ambush shootings and comrades that they lost to a snipers gunfire. Youre looking at the five officers who died in the attack thursday night. One of them, officer Patrick Zamarripa served three tours of duty in iraq before joining the Dallas Police department. Officer zamarripa was married with a twoyearold daughter. Scott gordon spoke to the officers grieving family. Reporter amid the flowers and prayers a mothers loss is just sinking in. He was a down hearted, good hearted, the most giving person. Patrick zamarripa joined the navy after graduating Pascal High School in 2001, served in afghanistan and in 2009 became a dallas cop. His mother says that was his dream. From when he was a little boy he always wanted to be a Police Officer. My son is a hero. His father. He would help you in any way, he would give you the last dollar in his pocket if you needed it. Just a few days ago zamarripa, the father of a twoyearold girl was planning a disney cruise. And his family saw news of the shooting they knew he was on duty and tried to reach him. Just thinking that he was pretty busy and couldnt get back to knee just yet. They raced to the hospital. They met me and took me into a room and i just thought maybe we were you know, he was in surgery or something. I said, is he all right . He looked at me and he started getting red, his face starting getting red and said no. You dont think its going to happen to your family. Senseless stuff. The Police Officer in minnesota didnt have nothing to do with patrick over here. He was over there trying to do his job protecting the people that were in the rally. He loved life. He loved his family. He loved his job. He was just he was a happy man. He was where he wanted to be. All this hate has to stop. My son paid the ultimate employees price you know. I dont care if youre black, white, green, purple, it has to stop. We are all gods children. Im very proud of him. I will always be proud of him for the work he did, the job he had. A 13yearold boy shot during a road rage incident in hunting park is home from the hospital. Key i dont know griffin was shot three times and still has a bullet in his leg. Doctors are waiting for the inflammation to go down before they remove it. Griffin said he was just playing tuesday night when he heard gunfire. I just remember somebody got out of the car and everybody ran across the street so i followed my brother and i told him i got hit and he was like, no, you didnt. And then i told him, i said, yes, i did. Investigators say a man jumped out of a car and fired three shots following a road rage incident then the car drove off. Its sort of a 50 50 split. We will be hot and humid again today. We did officially have our heat wave yesterday with at least three days in the 90s. We will hit 91 again today in philadelphia. Then we are looking for the possibility of some afternoon thunderstorms moving through the area and then lower humidity. We will stay dryer by tomorrow. You will feel a little bit of a difference for sure come tomorrow. Doppler radar showing we do have some mist around and some spritzers, scattered shower activity. We will go wider and show you we do have some precipitation down off of the carolina coast and another area of low pressure building out here, its a cold front moving through our area i think whering the possibility of scattered showers and late day storms. Clouds and sun. Well take you how are by how are with this particular weather model. Light rain, spritz type of moisture in the area and just sort of this morning it will hang around. As we go hour to hour there is a possibility of some shower activity. So well keep that going. We have a little bit of a cell building here at about 10 30 this morning just moving through parts of northern delaware and parts of wilmington, but you can see that in extreme southern delaware as well as south jersey its looking like we get some sunshine there. Were also talking about areas of fog this morning. Again, very employees out there. Meteorologist erika martin is out on the patio to give you conditions outside. How is it going . Its a little muggy out here to say the least. Thats right, the fog is an issue this morning, however, i do want to talk about ee vap rational cooling. The dew point right now in the 70s, you mentioned that cold front cutting across the piedmont so its a little chilly right now, but the big story in addition to the evaporational cooling would be areas of patchy fog. Everything is going to improve as the day progresses due to that sunshine mixing everything out. Were see 3 mile visibility from mount holly and trenton also seeing very Poor Visibility right now, again, improving throughout the day, however, as karen mentioned the big story the next big story would be those isolated thunderstorms and cold front right now. A little muggy, a little dewy, the spritz not that bad, i will take it for now, at least its a little bit more bearable than yesterday, we had that heat wave yesterday and 90s for today. Back to you. Health officials in utah say the person contracted the virus while traveling abroad earlier this year. The elderly patient died in june and also suffered from another Health Condition so at this point its unclear if or how the virus contributed to that persons death. Well, new this morning u. S. Open Champ Dustin Johnson will not be golfing in the olympics in rio. Johnson said he was through because of concerns for the zika virus. Tropical mosquitos spread the virus which can cause severe birth defects. Johnson and his fiancee say they plan to have more children in the future and he doesnt want to put his family at risk.
