Theyre learning that a relative of one of the victims discovered the disturbing scene over night. Nbc 10s matt delucia is live on it street in south philly. Matt. Reporter within the last hour, much of the police have left the scene here. You can see some police Milling Around the area right now. But theyve taken down the barricade around the 1300th block. The two victims were found on the floor. The apartment was ransacked but there was no sign of any forced entry. The victims are a 23yearold woman and a 50yearold man. Police say they were a couple and found in separate rooms with bruises on their face in pools of blood. And both were pronounced dead here at the scene. Homicide detectives have been talking with people in the area trying to find out information as to what happened and why. The street has reopened here. But the investigation still underway right now. Over the weekend some home owners expressed their out rage over the dune construction project they say is ruining their beaches. A federal judge ruled the dune project can continue if certain conditions are met. The army corps of engineers had to put financing around the standing water that had formed between the dunes and the bulk heads. Neighbors flcomplains their beaches are losing ground. They butchered our beach and created a health hazard. The project were looking at here, the damage has been done on the delaware beaches, the delaware beaches, the north jersey beaches. The army corps of engineers say they will continue to monitor the Water Quality of the ponds that formed that tested positive for bacteria earlier this month. First a couple found dead at a home on Federal Street in philadelphia. Investigators arent certain how the couple died, however they were severely beaten. The victims were a 23yearold female and a 50yearold male who lived together. Right now police have no suspects. Five people were shot on melon street as police were breaking up a party of teenagers. One of the victims was hit multiple times. Police say at the scene they found 31 spent shell casings. Now to our continuing coverage of the racially charged violence in charlottesville, virginia. This morning the city will try to find some peace after a weekend filled with violence and anger. The man accused will face a judge later today. Authorities say james alex fields, jr. , killed one woman and injured at least 19 others. A video shows the impact. Warning, you may find it disturbing to watch. As we mentioned the driver killed one woman and injured nearly two dozen other people. Heather heyer was struck down by that driver who plowed into the crowd. Her mother is now speaking out, saying shes still struggling to understand exactly what happened. Shes not angry, but she does hope her loss serves a greater purpose.
