They say the men were responsible for two separate car jackings. Officers tried to pull them over and they both took off running. Gunshots were fired during the chase. Its not clear by who. Police and swat teams later found the men hiding in the woods. No word on if anybody was hurt. Happening today the next step in the Corruption Scandal involving two local politicians, allentown mayor ed pawlowski has a date in federal court to face federal corruption charges. The indictment says pawlowski and spencer are accused of selling off city contracts to bankroll their political campaigns. Investigators began two years ago. In pawlowskis case prosecutors say he awarded work to Certain Companies on projects like city lights and city pools. In return they claim he took 150,000 in donation. Yesterday pawlowski denied the charges. I have done nothing wrong nor have i ever personally accepted a dime beyond my salary as mayor. If the mayor had any respect for the citizens he would resign immediately. Spencer is also due in court today. Three other people are named in the federal indictments including the former Reading School board president. And now to a developing story. An amusement ride tragedy in ohio. The governor has ordered all the rides to be shut down following a deadly accident. One man died, seven others were hurt. Many of them are critically injured when a ride called the fireball broke apart yesterday. A woman near the front of the line for that ride witnessed it. It was going for a minute and it was at its highest point and i saw somebody fall out of the ride and a minute later the whole row of seats full off and hit the ground. . The goovrn nvernor says other r will be able to open after safety inspections are conducted. Police take someone into custody after teens were seen throwing rocks on to i95 in philadelphia and putting drivers in danger. Only sty 10 was there to spot the damage on this suv. There was a baby inside. No one was hurt. Police took away a person in handcuffs and they say theyre interviewing them. Teenagers were throwing rocks at cars speeding on i95 northbound and commuters told us it could have been much worse. Its a bad thing. Were live on scene in abington township with new information about what the firefighters found in that house. Tell us more. Reporter take a look behind me. This house on the 600 block of garfield, you can see straight threw it. Were told it was neighbors who called in the fire just before 2 00 this morning, that a man lived inside the home in his 60s. Were told that a man in his 60s was found dead inside the home on the living room four. Four responding departments and fire was coming through the roof. This house is what they say was fully involved also making it difficult, investigators say they found hoarding conditions when they arrived. It was conditions in the house, hoarding conditions, it became difficult to get him out of the out of the house, but they were able to do so. And unfortunately it was determined shortly after he was removed from the residence that he had passed. Reporter any indication of what started the fire at this point . Thats still under investigation. Reporter now, fire officials do tell us they believe that the fire started in the back of the house. Back bedroom, but again, theyre not sure exactly what caused the fire to break out, how long it had been burning before a neighbor saw it there. They do tell us it had been documented with the county, that the county dispatchers were able to tell the firefighters on their way here that this was a documented hoarding situation so that the firefighters would have some indication of what they were walking into. That man needs to be identified but investigators believe he would be the occupant of the home here. Reporting live, nbc 10 use. Senate leaders are hearing from governors that they want republicans and democrats to Work Together to fix obamacare. In the letter yesterday a group of ten governors from both parties including pennsylvania governor urged the senate to set aside repeal and replace efforts and work with them to make health care more affordable and lawmakers are heading to what theyre calling votearama when it comes to a health care bill. Today senators are set to vote on a series of amendments known as the skinny repeal. Those amendments could repeal the individual and employer man dates to buy insurance. A woman is in custody after a man was gunned down following an apparent argument. It happened around 10 00 last night and the victim died at the hospital. A neighbor told nbc 10 that he heard arguing and the man was beating a woman and then a gunshot went off. Police say they have recovered that gun. And now to another example of the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic. A drug dealer faces charges after he delivered drugs to a hospital room and she later died. She overdosed on fentanyl back in may. Nurses found the mother of three unresponsive on the bathroom floor with Drug Paraphernalia nearby. Prosecutors say he brought her drugs before her death, not once, but five times. Were talking about 80 here and weve lost a life. Back in april the District Attorney promised to charge drug dealers with homicide if he could prove the drugs they sold caused someones death. The spca is back open after a deadly car accident there damaged the building last month. Crews have completed repairs and the dogs and cats are again available for adoption. Earlier this month the driver died when she crashed her car into the spca building and it sparked a fire. More than 100 animals had to be relocated. A man accused of stealing 1,000 worth of sunglasses turned himself in to police yesterday. And officials cut the ribbon on a new round about for drivers yesterday. One county leader says it will improve safety and it cut congestion at high hill and auburn roads. It boosts the temperatures but also brings in more moisture and that could lead to a shower or thunderstorm later in the day. Low 80s in spite of the clouds. This is into the 80s this afternoon during the afternoon. Thats when we could see some showers and thunderstorms. Its dry right now, but you can see some wet weather to the north and west.
