A man and a woman die in an overnight fire in philadelphias bustleton section. Neighbors tell us that a family of three shared this home together. They also tell us that the couples daughter, they recently had just dropped her off to college. Now, officials havent identified the victims yet. What they are telling us, the bodies of a man an a woman were pulled out of that home. Take a look. This is what firefighters were up against when they arrived just before midnight. When they got here, they found the house in flames. Firefighters entered the home, recovered the two victims immediately began cpr but it was too late. It took crews about 35 minutes to get thec fire out and at so point there was an emergency evacuation that took place, because of an odor of gas. The gas companien spoded and a minor gas leak was discovered and capped. Fire Officials Say its far too soon to determine what, if any, connection that gas leak had to the fire itself. Theyre still working to determine a cause. Meanwhi meanwhile, neighbors are shocked and saddened that the couple did not survive. I seen the flames higher than the trees. I ran out. My neighbor was screaming. Running up to the door, banging on the door. They just ran around the corner, heard a lot of screaming and everything. Just trying to get to them and unsuccessful. Reporter one firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. We know the fire marshal just arrived on scene here this morning. Police have taped off this area, that way fire officials can get inside and conducting their investigation to hopefully determine a cause to the fire, just a very difficult day overall for everyone here, for neighbors, for this community, for this family and, of course, firefighters who did their very best to try to save that couple. New this morning, the Philadelphia Parking Authority says it will crack down on Ride Sharing Companies like uber and lyft. The ppa says its giving a 48hour notice that will resume enforcement against those illegal services. This comes after a temporary threemonth deal between the city and those companies expired last friday. The deal was signed in the days leading up to the Democratic National convention and during the septa slowdown that took out a third of the Regional Rail fleet. The ppa says despite the popularity of the ride sharing service, they are committed to enforcing the law. More testimony is expected in the bridgegate trial from the prosecution and top witnessing. David wildstein testified that new Jersey Governor Chris Christie and new York Governor Andrew Cuomo talked about releasing a false report to stop questions about the bridge shutdown. The expectation is its going to continue to the north and start to push along to the northwest in a direct line of fire for the bahamas. There we go, through your thursday. 2 00 a. M. , still at 130 mile per hour winds, upgrading from category 3 to a category 4. Dangerous, major hurricane. The first of 2007 that we see here thats looking to move right through the bahamas and then clip right near florida. By friday, 2 00 a. M. , 130 miles for those winds as well. We go very close between miami and jacksonville as we continue clipping right near jacksonville, dropping to ac category 2 but still very strong, over 100 mile per hour winds. It just doesnt look good as we continue along the east coast. Now passing south carolina, georgia as well as north carolina, still at a category 2. Heres the thing were watching, though. A cold front will be moving in as well. That will be coming from the west. Its looking like that will push the system instead of moving our direction which is good news for us, curving it potentially a bit more to directly east or even an east southeast drop as we move into your monday. Also significantly downgrading those winds, just 80 miles per hour, category 1 hurricane. This is subject to change. At this point, that could be very good news for the shore. The next debate is october 9th, the third october 19th at the university of nevada, las vegas. State assembly and senate vote today on a proposal to raise the gas tax in new jersey by 23 cents a gal. The plan was reached by governor Chris Christie and Democratic Leaders last week. The tax will be used to replenish the states Transportation Trust fund which will payc for road and transit projects. Happening today in bensalem, bucks county, there will be a public hearing on a new piece of legislation that would let towns get a share of wage taxes collected from people who work in philadelphia but who live in the suburbs. Right now, the city has a 3. 4 wage tax for those nonresidents. If passed, the new law would let pennsylvania towns get a percentage of philadelphias wage tax. The exact amount is still not clear. The hurricane watch that was around orlando, Daytona Beach has been extended through jacksonville. I would not be surprised if they start extending that near georgia as well. This is in fact through your saturday morning at this point for the potential of that hurricane, clipping the area. Then we look in the red. This is where the hurricane warning. That means that the National Hurricane center is expecting hurricanelike conditions along the coast, stretching from right near miami through ft. Lauderdale and west palm beach. That is in effect through friday night. We have in place at this point a Tropical Storm warning in place through the keys and even starting to move along the more inland or rather along the western coast of florida. This is something that were closely looking at here, Tropical Storm conditions could do some serious damage depending on matthews track. At this point it does look like it will get close to florida over the next few days. For us, the high temperatures are looking great. Usually takes you eight to nine minutes. We are starting to see a delay. Travel speeds in the upper 20s and 30s. It is a bit of a slow go on the eastbound side. Mass transit, everything seems to be fine in the green. Were looking at a delay on the west trenton line, highlighted in red. Its going to be delayed at 20 minutes. Investigators now say the train was traveling two to three times the speed limit when it slammed into the station. The investigators think the train was moving between 20 and 30 miles an hour. Speed limit there is 10. The estimate is based on the damage, not the data recorder which was recovered yesterday. Officials recovered a video recorder and the engineers cell phone. Theyve all been sent to an ntsb lab for analysis. One woman standing on the platform was killed from debris from the crash. More than 100 others were hurt. Police in Camden County need your help for identifying a car used in multiple robberies that happened in the span of 37 minutes. This dark colored jeep was used in three armed robs, they say, it all started around 1 00 yesterday afternoon at a citgo station on route 130 in pennsauken. Another suspect hit another citgo station in town beforec robbing a third citgo station in haddon township. No one was hurt in the robberies. A lot of us also in the mid50s out there. 59 for the jersey shore. And south jersey sitting at 56 degrees as we kick off our wednesday. Temperatures on the cool sidw to start. As we move into the afternoon, up every 60s, low 70s. We are expecting sunny conditions this afternoon. Heres the neighborhoods right now, dropping into philadelphia. 57, graduate hospital, center city, society hill all at 57. Andorra at 53 and fox chase right now at 54 degrees to start the day. Radar and satellite, were sewing this wide view because theres not a lot to track finally. No showers to talk of. Clouds hanging near the shore. Clear conditions as well to kick off the day throughout the entire both the midatlantic and the northeast. Hour by hour shows us thats going to continue. The sun continues through the later part of our day right into the evening. Were clear as well. Then wednesday into thursday, there we go, thursday morning, a clear start that continues through to a clear day on thursday. Next couple of days here are looking very good. Cannot say the same as we drop farther south. Hurricane matthew, theres that satellite view. Still very strong. A good and steady category 3 storm expected to strengthen to a category 4 over the bahamas. Heres the rain potential were looking at. The bahamas, 8 to 12 inches of rain possibly isolated areas up to 15 inches of rain. The upper keys, 4 to 7 inches of rain, possibly up to 10 inches and the same for the east Central Florida coast. As were looking along the coastline, we could see up to 10 inches of rain. This is the current forecast. As we track matthew and look at the strength, we will probably see the numbers update a bit, hopefully not higher. For us, the impacts are actually looking better. I say better because the track is now taking it out to sea as it clips near the carolinas instead of to us. Some models are having it start to drop back south. Along the shore if you have a beach house in any of these locations, it will still be quite windy and we should see some rain on your saturday. Upper 60s to temperatures around 70, rehoboth beach, if you have a place on delaware beaches. Sunday, temperatures drop to the mid60s but otherwise at this point, the windy conditions looking like the worst of the current tracked forecast that could update. President obama is meeting today with the officials at the federal Emergency Management agency to discuss hurricane response plans. Today in bensalem, bucks county, there will be a city wage tax hearing. The city has a 3. 4 wage tax for those nonresidents. Today lawmakers in new jersey will vote on a proposal to raise the gas tax by 23 cents a gallon. Both the assembly and senate have votes scheduled. The tax will be used to replenish the states Transportation Trust fund which will pay for road and transit projects. As we move along, theres a chance of rain, your saturday and sunday some clouds hanging over head with a cooldown. It looks like thats a cold front, not necessarily thanks to a tropical system moving in. Were looking at the 60s dropping off into the front.
