There were police out here within the past couple of hours and overnight. Just handling the investigation. They have two people in custody. Lets take another look at that skyforce 10 video where you can see the flurry of Police Activity here in front of the bellevue here on south broad street. This was a little after 10 30 last night. What police found was a smoke bomb and chemicals that police say could be used to make pipe bombs. Now, police took two people into custody, a man and a woman. Again, theyre undergoing questioning right now. One thing of note, the bellevue was not evacuated at all during that time. But there were questions lingering this morning as to what these two were doing on the roof, what their intentions were with these materials. Of course well keep you posted on what police find out. Larry Darnell Gordon was being moved yesterday when he grabbed an officers gun and opened fire while trying to escape. The inmate injured two other people before police shot and killed him. Today, president obama, Vice President biden and former president george w. Bush will be in dallas. They all plan to attend tett Memorial Service for the five officers killed in dallas. The five officers were killed thursday night during a march protesting recent policeinvolved shootings across the country. The suspected gunman, Micah Johnson was killed in a standoff with police and yesterday the Dallas Police chief said that johnson knew what he was going and was committed to killing officers. Investigators are now sifting through body cam footage, witness interview and the gunmans personal 50s gnat to see what drove him to kill. Funerals will be held this week for three of the officers killed in dallas. Several Police Departments from our area will send officers to those services. This all comes as were learning new details. They are trying to piece together what drove this gunman, Micah Johnson, to open fire and kill five officers and wounding others. His parents are speaking out, saying theyre not sure why their son did this but he was disappointed with the government after returning home from the military service. Stephen zappala still lots of questions exactly why he did this. He said he did it to target white Police Officers. Investigators say they found no formal ties to any militant organization. Nbc 10 has learned that starting today septa will use five train cars leased from maryland. Yesterday septa added leased trains from new Jersey Transit and amtrak. We will continue to make adjustments and continue on working leasing additional equipment. Were continue to look at even potentially doing some kind of express busing in. Theyre looking to get more equipment from possibly boston or the midwest. The agency is spending more than 19,000 a week to rent the cars from maryland area rail Commuter Train Service or m. A. R. C. , more than 15,000 a week to rent a locomotive and eight cars from new Jersey Transit and paying amtrak more than 16,000 a week to lease two locomotives and five cars. More details on a story we first brought you last night. Weve now learned a 15yearold boy died overnight after getting shot following a basketball game. Two other teens were hurt. Evelyn cortez was principal of cayuga elementary school. She was sentenced to seven years probation an charges of tampering with evidence and conspiracy. She pleaded guilty to changing test answers and also giving some students answers to the state assessment test. Investigators say she publicly reprimanded teachers and students who did notc want to take part in the cheating. And happening today, a philadelphia judge could soon unseal documents that reveal more about what the late joe paterno was told about sex abuse allegations against his assistant coach jerry sandusky. The records from an insurance lawsuit could give more details about allegations that a boy sandusky molested him. Pater paterno, before he died said he didnt hear allegations until 2001. Sandusky is serving time for a child molestation conviction. The battle between the two rivals for democratic nomination appears as though it will come to an end today. Both campaigns say Bernie Sanders will join the Presumptive Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton at a rally in New Hampshire where hes expected to endorse her. New hampshire is a state sanders won by a wide margin in the primaries. The move comes after sanders pressed clip to support raising the minimum wage to 15 an hour.
