Philadelphia police are searching for the driver of a car that smashed into a bus canopy killing a plan wman who standing inside. The impact was so strong it sent the man and the canopy flying about 100 feet. Katy zachry is live with us this morning. Tell us what happened. Reporter you mentioned the impact of the crash, now that it is daylight, the damage and the scene out here is more startling. Here is the car that police say hit and killed a man who was waiting at the bus stop. Just beyond him, along the sidewalk, you can see was remains of the septa bus stop. The canopy that used to be at the corner of cottman and bustleton avenues, about 100 feet away. But early this morning it was thrown that distance along with the victim as a result of this crash. Look at our video right now. Police say theyre looking for the driver of this 2003 lexus that they say hit and killed a 40yearold man who was waiting at the corner for a bus around 12 30 this morni morning. The damage to the lexus shows you how fast the car was going and how hard it hit the bus stop canopy and the victim. The driver crossed cotman avenue and drove on to the sidewalks. Witnesses say the car took out everything in its path. Then it came to a stop in the middle of the street. The driver got out, walked over to the victim who was lying on the sidewalk, looked at him and ran off. Investigators do not have an identification on the victim. They say he was standing there waiting for the bus or trying to keep cover from the rain. He had a backpack on him but no identification. In terms of the suspect, the man theyre looking for, they say he stands about 510, he has medium build and was last seen running away south on bustleton avenue wearing a white shirt. Officials in allentown found a man dead at the scene of a house fire. Nbc 10 was close to the scene on newton street. Were told flames broke out before 2 00 this morning. Crews put it out quickly. The victim was the only person inside at the time. Breaking developments in the flight of 804. Forensic experts in egypt say that after analyzing human remains, it appears the plane was taken down by an explosion. Some debris has been located, but the hunt for the wreckage and the black boxes in the Mediterranean Sea continues. 66 passengers and crew were on board the flight when it crashed en route to cairo from paris. Back at home, two shootings and two men found about two blocks away from each other. Police are investigating right now and they think the shootings are related. Police rushed to the city Avenue Shopping Center this is in overbrook where they found a man lying on the ground outside of a car. Police say the man in his 20s was shot three times. Inside of the car police found two different types of shell casings, and a gun in the backseat. While at this scene police were notified of another shooting victim just a couple blocks away. That man who police say is also in his 20s was found in a popeyes parking lot. He was shot once in the chest. Both victims were transported to Presbyterian Hospital and both are in stable condition. I should also mention that police are still onscene at the hospital there because they believe these two victims may have shot each other. Last week police say a man in an suv used a gun to threaten fifth graders on pennsaukens urban promise School Playground. The School Called 911 but because it sits on the Pennsauken Camden border, the call got bounced from one town to another. Pennsauken police were never notified. Camden metro police alerted units to be on the lookout for the suv but police did not respond directly to the school that day. I dont care who responds. The driver got out of the car, walked up, looked at the victim and took off running. New this morning officials in allentown tell us a man died in a house fire there. Bill cosby is expected in court today. Two key things could happen today, a courtroom confrontation between cosby and his accuser and a judge could set a trial date today. Theres a small chance the judge could throw the case out, but thats not likely. Bill cosby has been in the spotlight of late. Yesterday the pennsylvania Supreme Court denied an emergency stay presented by cosbys legal team. Hes been trying to get this case dismissed from the beginning. Part of the defense argument has been that cosby had an agreement with former Montgomery District attorney bruce castor that there would be no criminal prosecution in exchange for testimony in a civil case. Some of that testimony became public recently, and the new d. A. Vowed to prosecute cosby. Cosby is accused of drugging and molesting a former temple worker at his cheltenham home back in 2004. What is expected to happen today is a back and forth over the evidence between the prosecution and the defense. The prosecution may put the accuser on the witness stand. The money would be used to pay for universal prek, rec centers Community Schools and the citys pension system. Beverage distributors say the plan would be bad for business. The city council has until june to decide on the proposal. The time is 6 36. Now to decision 2016. President ial candidate Bernie Sanders says the Democratic National convention in philadelphia could get messy. Sand others supporters are hoping for a platform at the july convention that reflects the needs of working families, the poor and young people. Sanders said he hopes supporters voices will be heard but that he will condemn any and all forms of violence. The conventions ceo said shes not worried about trouble. Philadelphia police are investigating a pair of crime scenes about two blocks apart where two different shooting victims were found. Yesterday the pennsylvania Supreme Court denied an emergency stay presented by cosbys legal team. Hes been trying to get this case dismissed from the beginning. Part of the defense argument has been that cosby had an agreement with former Montgomery District attorney bruce castor that there would be no criminal prosecution in exchange for testimony in a civil case. What is expected to happen today is a back and forth over the evidence between the prosecution and the defense. The prosecution may put the accuser on the witness stand.
