Firefighters are working on hot spots at this point at this warehouse fire that started around 2 30 this morning at an old chicken factory on grow street. One person was hurt but is ex t expected to be okay. Firefighters took more than two hours to put this fire out. More breaking news out of philadelphias kensington neighborhood. Police are looking for a person who slashed a womans neck. Detectives are knocking on doors, looking for witnesses. 6 03 55 degrees outside. An officer shot while trying to stop a carjacking on sunday night is now back home. The officer, James Mccollough left the hospital last night. The man accused of shootingc h is in jail this morning as the District Attorney is working on charges, nbc 10s katy zachry is live for us outside of Police Headquarters in center city. Katy, the man accused of shooting is no stranger to police. He has a long criminal history, vai, thats right. We spoke with detectives who say the suspect who is being held here at Police Headquarters has been speaking with them. They expect to charge him with several serious crimes later this morning. 23yearold Scott Griffin is accused of shooting Philadelphia Police officer James Mccollough when the officer interrupted a carjacking that griffin and another man allegedly carried out sunday night. We learned from Court Documents that griffin has 14 prior arrests for drugs, weapons and theft. Griffin had been in jail less than a week ago but he was let go after a judge cited lack of evidence, because several witnesses did not show up to testify. So that put him back on the street where police say he committed two crimes this weekend. One of which was the carjacking that officer mccollough interrupted. And the officers rugby team tells us their teammate is always trying to do the right thing. He loves the job. I know that. He always wanted to make a difference. So i mean, like i said, hes just an inspiration to our whole team. Reporter we are expecting Scott Griffin to be charged with attempted murder of a Police Officer as well as robbery sometime later this morning. Detectives tell us later this morning, just a few hours from now, they expect to charge him with some pretty serious crimes, including attempted murder of a Police Officer. As we said, weve learned Scott Griffin has a lengthy criminal history. c griffin has 14 prior arrests according to Court Records for things like drugs, weapons and theft. This is Philadelphia Police arresting the 23yearold yesterday afternoon after an hours long manhunt in the shooting of officer James Mccollough sunday night. Officer mccollough had interrupted a carjacking with griffin and another suspect when he was shot in the leg. Griffin had been in jail less than a week ago, but he was let go after a judge cited lack of evidence in that case because several witnesses did not show up to testify. And that allowed him back on the street to carry out a carjacking, police say, where he shot officer mccollough in the leg. Hes exhausted. He was up all night long, adrenaline probably mostly, which is understandable. But we need to let him get some rest. Reporter as we said, at the top of this story, officer mccollough was released from the hospital late last night, nearly 24 hours after being shot in the leg. Hes 24 years old. Hes been on the force for the last two years. He has a young daughter and he is engaged to be married. He is expected to make a full recovery. According to investigators with be Maurice Phillips confessed to accidentally shooting and killing his 4yearold daughter. They also say he initially tried to pin the shooting on one of his other children. Yesterday in kensington, people attended a vigil. Friends, family and strangers showed support for the family. This is crazy. This was a 4yearold girl, never went to school. Maurice phillips is now facing murder charges. He said show some class. Frustrated fans getting scolded by the flyers public address announcer after throwing free bracelets on to the ice at players and drawing a penalty from the refs. The frustration boiled over with fans as the capitalsc came int the Wells Fargo Center and cr h crushed the flyers in the game. It all happened on the night flyers were honoring their founder, ed snider. Pamela osborne is at the Wells Fargo Center. Fans were upset but this seems like another black eye for philadelphia fans. Reporter youre absolutely right. Not the images they wanted people to see, that game broadcast live on national television. This was the first game since the passing of founder ed snider and the flyers honored his legacy last night at the game. But some fans actually used that to disrupt things. When flyers fans arrived last night, they were all given bracelets for the ed snider memorial. It wasnt long before some fans began throwing those bracelets on to the ice. It got so bad, even an announcer had to take a moment to scold fans for their actions. And at one point, during the game, a capitals player was hit in the face with one of those bracelets. This is Philadelphia Police arresting him yesterday afternoon after an hours long manhunt in the shooting of officer James Mccollough sunday night. Officer mccollough interrupted a carjacking with griffin and another suspect, according to police when he was shot in the c leg.
