The army corps of engineers wants that order lifted but the city of margate wants it to remain in place. What were talking about is the dune construction on the beaches over there. It was ordered to be shut down at least temporarily last week. City Officials Say the statemandated project has led to drainage issues that created large ponds of bacteriafilled standing water. Margate Officials Say the construction has caused the city irreparable harm. They told the army corps of engineers, the contractor and city officials last week to come up with a meaningful plan to solve the drainage problems. There was an agreement in part to finish the walkways along the major streets, to have the army corps pump water from retention bases quickly after a heavy rainfall and also have the army corps secure the work area. Take a listen to some of the residents there, what they had to say about this. It basically reuniouins our r in terms of being able to come down here and relax and enjoy the beach. Its going to give us issues until they take the dune and cut it back, take the sand that they took for the dune and put it back to where it was. Squatters were seen in the area but disappeared from the scene. A homicide is now in the hands of homicide detectives. A man was found dead in a home that went up in flames in kensington wednesday night. Firefighters say the fire was no accident. Another man jumped from a second story window to escape the flames. A death in tropicana in atlantic city. A man was found dead inside a room on the 37th floor yesterday. A woman was also found in the room with burns to her hair and neck. Authorities are still trying to figure out how the man died, but they say there are no safety concerns to the public. Its 5 03. Sunoco is agreeing to reevaluate sites along its mariner pipeline where there have been spills and water contamination. They will give homeowners notice when drilling will restart. Sunoco and three environmental groups reached that settlement yesterday. A review board will review the settlement. They complained their water supply was tainted and after mud from the drilling leaked into a Delaware County creek. The project was allowed to resume at some locations last week. 5 04 right now. Also in chester county, a wife watched as a neighbor shot and killed her husband on their front lawn. Police say this was a result of a longrunning dispute between the two men. Clay carter is now charged with first degree murder. He shot brooks jennings outside their homes in west goshen township yesterday morning. Police were called to break up the fight between the men just a few hours earlier. Carter also had disputes with other neighbors. A Cumberland County woman abandoned her son in the woods. The boy has special needs and was found with nothing but his luggage. Just last night, nbc 10 knocked on debra whistlers door to get her version of the story, but heres what we know. It happened last thursday. Investigators say she attempted to get the boy into a program, and when he wasnt accepted, they say she left him on the side of the road near the visitors center. People who know whistler say there was no sign of this coming. I mean, she just adores him. I dont know what happened. Whistler is charged with child endangerment. The boy is currently in a temporary home. Philadelphia police are searching for a bank robber. They say this man gave a demand note to a dell ler at a td bank on walnut street yesterday afternoon.
