Were following breaking news out of philadelphia where a Police Officer is now in fatal condition after being hit by a car in manayunk. Pamela osborne is live there this morning. Pamela, walk us through you know what happened. Reporter well, lauren, police were able to catch up with that hit and run driver within a matter of minutes thanks to a tow truck driver who witnessed that accident and followed after that driver. Im going to step out of the way and show you. Can see this one Police Cruiser with a broken mirror remains on the scene. This is exactly where Fifth District officers stopped to conduct an investigation. There were two officers and a sergeant. The over headlights were flashing on both cruisers. The sergeant was in uniform, standing on both sides, talks to an officer when police say a 2008 toyota rav4 came speeding down main street in the southbound lane. The same side of the street that officers were conducting their stop on. Police say the suspect hit the sergeant so hard that he was knocked out of his shoes and launched 15 feet up the street. In comes that tow truck driver. He saw all of this happen. He followed the driver and alerted police to their location. Which was nearby on ridge avenue. The driver of the vehicle is a sergeant. Hes a 21yearold male. He did appear under the influence of although, so he was taken into custody. And the Police Sergeant is recovering at einstein. Hes in stable condition this morning. Meantime, the driver of that vehicle is being processed. Hes facing several very serious charges this morning, including sought on a uniform Police Officer. Reporting live in manayunk, im pamela osborne, nbc10 news. And pamela, its 5 03, 69 degrees. And a home in germantown, eight people, including five children inside, a man outside the home was also shot. Police say the intruder was shot inside that home. Police thought the man was shot in retaliation to a fight earlier yesterday. Police are going through surveillance video. Officials say the attack in Afghanistan University is over. The gunmen set off the attack at a campus in kabul yesterday. The explosives and gunfire. The violence left 12 people dead including seven students. Scores of others were hurt. The u. S. National Security Council spokesperson saluted the quick work of action of Security Forces who put down the assaults overnight. So far, theres been no claim of responsibility for the attack. Now to south jersey where a burglar ransacked this home in cumberland county. The home belongs to hunter lyles mother. The mother has alzheimers. The house was boarded up and all of the mothers memories were inside. I didnt want her to lose this stuff. For someone else to close this house before me, it just kills me. A neighbor discovered the breakin on saturday. Police are checking surveillance cameras nearby to see if they caught the burglar in the act. A former olympic boxer hopeful is facing attempted murder charges following a weekend shootout in west philadelphia. Police have charged paul kroll after he and his girlfriend got into an argument. And shots were fired. Police say he and two other men followed her to her home. Shen the shooting happened. Three people were hurt. Two in critical condition. Some are accuse a local Radio Station of racism. One host on the fanatic is hoping to move past the controversy. Welcome back to normalcy. Thats all the host he said to open the show on wednesday just a day after finding out that created and regularly called with a black caller named dwayne. Drivers think Philadelphia Police have found some custom made bikes stolen from the Wounded Warrior project. Thieves took off with 40,000 worth of bikes from a uhaul parked at a motel two weeks ago. The bikes are used in fundraising rides. Tuesday night, they found the bikes at a home on sterling street. And Police Arrested 48yearold roy bowman and charged him with theft and receiving stolen property. Jones took down her page after her page was littered with nude photos of her. Last month, her twitter account was flooded with hateful and racist tweets.
