The temperatures are dropped into the 30s now in delaware. Now just 39 degrees. You will see bright sunshine. The sun coming up just a minute or two after 7 00 this morning. 37 degrees. Then 45 at 10 00. A nice warmup but the winds will be increasing. The wind at 5 miles an hour in the suburbs, 10 miles an hour in philadelphia. We will see enough sunshine to warm temperatures to near 50 degrees for philadelphia and the suburbs. 52 in new jersey. At the shore, sunny skies and 53 degrees. Stuck in the 40s for lehigh valley. Up to 5 degrees for delaware. There will be hourbyhour changes and ill go through those when i come back. Starting out with an accident in northeast philadelphia around elbridge street. No big delays moving by the scene. Its a little early to see that volume. Route 202 looks okay. Ten minutes in both directions. North and south from 30 to the schuylkill and speeds into the 60. Thats the ben franklin toll bridge so if youre heading into philadelphia right now, no problems getting over the bridge. Back to you. 5 32, 40 degrees outside. Were following breaking news this morning. 23 people are out of their homes right now after this. A fire roared through eight homes in allentown blowing out windows and scorching everything inside. Katy zachry is live on scene. You spoke with a man who watched his neighbors homes burn. Reporter that man lives on this corner right here just feet from where his neighbors homes were burning. He tells me he knows everyone who has business displaced and describes it as a heartbreaking scene. This fastmoving fire on north fulton in allentown began after 8 00 thursday night. Firefighters tell us it began in the middle row home of the 40 0 block of north fulton street, possibly in the back of the house. A man and two children, were told, were the first to report it. Neighbors tell me this block is filled with families. The red cross is helping more than 20 people, 23 to be exact, with food, clothing and shelter at this early hour. We were crying, laying on the ground, shaking their heads. Reporter there were some kids who lived here . Yeah, a lot of kids lived over there. All the houses have kids. Everybody lose everything just like that. Reporter a total loss for many of those seven families involved. Coming up in the next half hour, hear why people say if this fire had begun any later than it had, why they fear things would have been so much worse. Reporting live in allentown this morning, katy zachry, nbc10 news. Meantime, investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly fire in philadelphia. One man died in a fire that ripped through a building in cobbs creek last night at 64th and callowhill. Witnesses say they heard a loud boom from the fire broke out. Firefighters found compressed gas cylinders which likely ignited. They also found the body of a man in a second floor apartment. Unfortunately, you know, an outcome we would not have wished and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. It exploded. The guy who lived there had a breathing problem. Some families who evacuated because of the fire are back in their homes this morning. Happening today, an unprecedented election recount is happening in philadelphia. And in michigan today the state election board will consider president elect trumps request to block a recount there. Pame Pamela Osborne is talking about that and the recount already going on in pennsylvania. A partial recount will begin today in philadelphia. At 1 00 this afternoon the recount and Voting Results from 75 machines across 1700 wards in philly will take place at the voting machine warehouse along wissahickon avenue. So, why these particular wards . Well, voters in each of these wards actually question petitioned for the recount. This, as you know, is an effort from Green Party Candidate jill stein. She pushed the recounts in michigan and wisconsin as well. We know the president elect donald trump has been against the recount efforts. His attorneys have filed paperwork in an effort to stop the recount in michigan. That recount was supposed to start today. Wisconsins recount is already under way. And here in pa, trump defeated Hillary Clinton by 68,000 votes. Clinton, however, tweeted trump by a margin of 655,000 votes in philadelphia. A Court Hearing on the statewide recount is set for monday. In the digital operation center, im Pamela Osborne, nbc10 news. We have more details on the investigation of an explosion at center city home last month. Were getting a new look at video and pictures of the man that the fbi calls a person of interest in this case. Now, they refer to him as a man but also acknowledge he could be a woman. Investigators say the man was caught on surveillance cameras on both pine and lombard streets a couple days before the blast. Someone left a package containing an explosive at jim aldens home. When he opened it, it exploded leaving him with shrapnel scars on his hands, face and chest. This device was a very dangerous device. It was a disruptive device. Caused significant injury to the person and could have resulted in death. So, obviously, were taking this very seriously. Philadelphia police are offering a 10,000 reward for any information in this case. They say the victim was targeted but they still dont know why. Its 5 37 and 40 degrees outside. The engineer who nodded off before a deadly Train Derailment in new york three years ago is suing the railroad for 10 million. In his lawsuit filed yesterday, engineer william rock afeller blames the negligence of the metro north rail line for the derailment that killed four people in december of 2013. The lawsuit also claims the metro north values ontime performance over protecting riders and workers. Rockefeller says he suffered permanent disabilities in the crash. An attorney for six people hurt in the derailment says his clients are also suffering. See this man, rockefeller, bring a lawsuit is adding insult to injury. I have clients that are still in wheelchairs and going through rehabilitation. Those clients are going through hell. Federal investigators found the engineer was exhausted from undiagnosed sleep apnea when he fell asleep and lost control of the train. 5 38 right now. High schools in ocean county have a new tool to prevent drug overdose. Nurses and athletic directors are armed with narcan nasal spray kits. They got training, which can reverse overdoses from heroine and other opioids. Its the first in the garden city. Nurses say its something they never thought theyd need. Ive been a school nurse for several years and ive never seen anything like this. A Pharmaceutical Company provided the narcan for free. Some schools in pennsylvania and delaware already carry narcan. But these clouds that are moving into texas, thats part of the area where were watching for a storm to develop, which bring us some wet weather but not until after the weekend. Well tell you what theyre doing about it. Six minutes before 6 00. Delawares Fire Department is mourning one of their own after announcing the death of senior firefighter ardy hope. Shes one of three firefighters who died battling flames at a row home in september. Hope was in icu and listed in critical but stable condition earlier this week. Captain Christopher Leach and lieutenant jerry fickes were two other firefighters killed in the row home fire. One wilmington firefighter lived through the flames. Medics treated after for critical injuries. Police arrested beatrice fanaruiz. She lived in the home with her father and stepmother. She admitted to setting the fire. A policy of temporarily closing fire houses on a rotating bases put the firefighters in greater danger. The death toll in the tennessee wildfires is now at 11. Firefighters are still putting out hot spots from the damage in gatlinburg. The wildfires started monday in the nearby Great Smokey Mountain National park. Thousands of people evacuated as flames spread to homes and businesses. The governor declared a state of emergency in order to give help to the fire victims. Mark the oneyear anniversary of the terror shootings in that city. Bun year ago today a married couple open fire at a Holiday Party killing more than a dozen and wounding a dozen others. The couple was killed in a shootout with police. Philadelphia city council wants to crack down on the action of some private towing companies. Council members will vote on two bills. One requires police to ticket a car before its towed from a private lot or driveway. The other would penalize towers who dont follow the citys established law after a car accident. If the police are called or respond in any way to an accident, the only one company, the company thats on the rotational list, can deal with the vehicle. Some private towing companies are fighting the proposed laws. One Business Owner told us he believes the fill unfairly targets companies that already follow the rules.
