A state of emergency now in place in charlotte after a second night of violent protests in that city. Nbc10s matt delucia is live in the digital operations center. Matt, one person was shot during the protests, tell us about that. Right. It did turn violent last night. Residents and Business Owners are busy cleaning up the damage. Youre taking a look at this is what it looked like during the demonstration last night. Police with tactical gear. They used rubber bullets and tear gas as hundreds of people swarmed the streets. And more of what this about is, tuesday afternoon Charlotte Police say 44yearold keith scott ignored officers demands to drop this gun. There was a gun found at the scene, multiple witnesses said scott had no gun. But the police chief says one person was shot but Officials Say the gunshot was not fired by an officer. One witness described seeing the victim. I dont know, they just shot somebody right there on me. There was blood. And a crowd of people. I dont know i dont know if hes dead. That man is on life support this morning. Again, police say he was not shot by an officer. Several others were injured in that protest. Including Police Officers. Well, the officer involved in the deadly shooting on tuesday is in place on administrative leave. Police say that the officer was not wearing a body camera at the time. But three other officers at the scene did have it. Lawmakers calling for the release of that video. Live in the digital operations center, im matt delucia, nbc10 news. The family of the suspect accused of planting devices is under new scrutiny. Fbi says a big patch of dirt in ahmad rahamis yard is from setting off a bomb. They say his family knew about it because somebody took video of him doing it. And after an explosive device went off in new york city. You see rahami wheeling a suitcase which authorities believe had a Pressure Cooker bomb in it. I also see in the video, two men who are believed to have taken that but left the bomb that was inside. Investigators are trying figure out who those men are. The fbi released his wanted poster saying theyre treating the men as witnesses, not suspects. And police are continuing to respond to more calls of suspicious packages in new york city yesterday. As the latest sign of the citys jitters. It started as a prayer vigil but turned into chaos and someone shot a protester. Hes on life support. Police did not fire the shot that critically wounded that man. Police fired soft grenades and tear gas and pushed back the protesters. Six Police Officers and would others suffered minor injuries. And Philadelphia Police are looking for a robbery suspect chased away by a store owner who decided to fight back. Juan Carlos Garcia was attending to his store when a man with a gun tried to hold him up. Surveillance video shows the moment that garcia pulled his own gun and told the man to get out and chased him away. Garcia said hes licensed to carry and refused to be the victim. He added that he did not shoot because the man did what he was told. I told dont you ever come in here again. No one was hurt and detectives are praising garcia for acting responsibly. A shut down pipeline is back in service this morning meaning relief could be on the way from rising gasoline prices. Crews reopened the pipeline last night. It had been shut down since september 9th because of a leak in alabama. The Pipeline Company estimates more than 330,000 gallons of gasoline spilled from the line. It will take several days with fuel supplies to get back to normal. The shutdown triggered a gas shortage and fuel price hikes across the south. And it also pushed up gas prices if our area. Family friends and fellow officers gathered to remember a Philadelphia Police officer who died in the line of duty. Officials unveiled a plaque honoring officer Walter Dewitt iii at the Philadelphia Police gun range yesterday.
