Except this september or october, ive lost track. It is september and, you know, today is the last full day of summer. The normal high would be 76 degrees, well into the 80s this afternoon. Clear of any fog. The fog is thicker in some communities. Not too bad in the suburbs but now in south jersey, wrightstown and mt. Holly. Dense fog for both locations. The fog will disappear with a temperature warmup. Were in the 60s for new jersey and the suburbs of philadelphia. Low clouds in the Lehigh Valley, thats the view from easton this morning. Clouds linger into the late Morning Hours before you get breaks of sunshine this afternoon. 86 degrees, partly sunny skies today. 80s for the rest of the week. Except at the shore, 70s with mostly cloudy skies today. A look at each of these forecasts hour by hour when i come back. First, Jessica Boyington has an update from the first alert traffic center. Were watching another accident, brand new one into our system in new hanover, deep creek road. That intersection being diverted around right now with an accident scene. Watching the schuylkill expressway, our cameras around montgomery drive. Still looking great, east and westbound. In or out of the city, okay. Our drive times are 12 minutes from the blue route to the vine street expressway. 422 looks great as well. We have eastbound drive times, where we check first. Thats where we see most of the cars headed. Eastbound from 29 to the schuylkill expressway, maybe increased two minutes or so. Its typically a six to sevenminute trip. Were still moving out there. Not seeing major delays yet. Were following breaking news in North Carolina this morning. Angry street protests erupted in charlotte after police say an officer shot an unarmed africanamerican man in an apartment complex yesterday. The man died at the hospital. His family says he did not have a gun. As for the protests last night, police say demonstrators destroyed police cars and 12 moif Police Officers were injured. The hearing will address how to stop future attacks. The new York Police Department Deputy Commissioner for intelligence and counterterrorism john miller will testify. Meantime, the fbi filed new charges against the suspect in those attacks, ahmad khan rahami. Hes accused of making and setting off weapons of mass destruction. A spokesperson for the u. S. Attorney in manhattan tells nbc news that rahami will first face charges in federal court in manhattan. Investigators say rahami is scene on Surveillance Video walking near the spots where a bomb was placed and where one bomb went off. 31 people were her in the blast. Were also learning a lot about rahamis past, including his recent travels to pakistan and also afgheraup. And in the next half hour, nbc 10s Pamela Osborne will join us with more on that and the time that rahamis own father called him a terrorist. Now back to the arrest of the new york and new jersey bombing suspect. Two men are being called heroes after finding bombs at that train station in elizabeth before they went off. One of the men, lee parker is homeless. He was walking with his friend, ivan white sunday night when they spotted a backpack. Parker is trying to earn money for an apartment and had a Job Interview scheduled the next day. The backpack is just what he needed. When white opened the backpack and saw metal cylinders with wires sticking out, he said he knew they needed to go to the police. Hero . Nah. I wont go that far. Doing the right thing, an every day regular dude doing the right thing . Yeah. The pairs actions are being recognized by the elizabeth community. A go fund me page entitled hometown heroes has already raised 12,000 from dozens of people. A Philadelphia High School student is facing charges after he was involved in a fight with a teacher at school and it was caught on camera. Monique braxton is outside the school in the citys mayfair section. The student from the lincoln high has been charged with aggravated assault as well as recklessly endangering another person. He fought a teacher and it was all captured on camera. Oh students told us one of their peers was late to class. Words were exchanged and then this, a 16yearold on the left punching at a 44yearold teacher on the right. He was trying to detain him. I dont get why nobody tried to break it up. Hes really nice. He jokes around. Hes a cool guy. It appeared all the students we spoke to favor the teachers side of the story but its still not clear if someone attempted to break up the fight here at lincoln high. We do know, though, according to police and the School District, the teacher has not been charged. Well continue to follow this investigation. Ill be back in about an hour. Live for now, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. Thank you. Philadelphia police say the man who appeared to be the victim of a hit and run in the citys rhawnhurst section will face robbery charges. Investigators say when the driver pulled up to an atm, a man walked over with a gun. The driver took off but then he went back to get his card out of the machine. The suspect jumped out right at him. The driver hit him with his car and drove out. He fled. Hes scared. Hes not from this country. Hes only been here for a month. Hes in fear that he would be arrested. He did the right thing when he saw the police had his car and came right out and decided to come forward and cooperate. Police say the robbery suspect suffered head injuries and is in critical condition. 5 36. Philadelphia Police Sergeant sylvia young is waking up at home this morning. She was released from the hospital yesterday. She was one of six shot during that deadly rampage in West Philadelphia friday night. Nicholas glenn fired more than a dozen rounds at her patrol car, hitting her in the shoulder, arm and torso. Its something thats all too familiar to officer Jesse Hartnett who survived an ambush earlier this year. To turn the tv on to see Something Like this going on again, its traumatic. Its a shame that its even its trulyc devastating. Sergeant young is a 19year veteran of the force. The Police Commissioner says she plans to return to work. 5 37. Epipen maker executive will get grilled on capitol hill over the drugs price surge. Mylans ceo will testify before the House Oversight committee. The company has been slammed recently for raising the price of the epipen more than 500 since 2007. The cost of an epipen twopack 608. Testimony begins in the Market Street build collapse civil trial. Six were killed, 12 injured when a Center City Building being demolished collapsed on to a Salvation Army building in 2013. A seventh person died later of his injuries. The defense Attorney Says the building onner and the Salvation Army had no keck to the collapse. The testimony is expected to last for at least two months. The construction contractser and excavator operator were criminally charged and convicted for causing the deadly collapse. Those clouds are reaching into the suburbs and the Lehigh Valley. Below the clouds in south jersey, were seeing thick fog. Look at mt. Holly and wrightstown. Dense fog in those locations. Not as thick as it was yesterday. The suburbs of blue bell have seen decreases. Fog to start with during the day, the temperatures will climb. The fog will disappear, so will the weather. 75 degrees at 10 00. Thats close to the normal High Temperature for this time of year. Were into the 80s starting at lunch time, 85 degrees with snaen and scattered clouds in philadelphia at 4 00 this afternoon. 64 degrees now. 70s at 10 00 and in the 70s around midday. The Lehigh Valley, sunshine and a few scattered clouds. Those clouds will be thinning out, 84 degrees at 2 00 this afternoon. Clouds will be lingering in south jersey. I dont expect to see showers in new jersey. Some breaks of sunshine and a warmup in spite of those clouds, 82 degrees. There will be thin clouds around at 2 00 this afternoon. 83. Once the temperatures warm from the middle 60s with, thats whe see the fog disappear. At the shore, no fog being reported but clouds hanging in there. Staying in the 70s even with breaks of sunshine during the afternoon. And delaware, the clouds will thin out as well. Clouds, sunshine, 75 degrees later this morning into the lower 80s this afternoon. The other thing that will happen, as the day goes on, as we warm into the 80s, youll feel the humidity coming down. The scuffle happened at the see s recess lounge february 6th. The officers say they have permanent injuries to head, face and bodies. Theyre suing for 150,000 to cover damages. Our investigation confirmed they were attacked and assaulted by lesean mccoy. And the other defendants who are named in the complaint. In addition to mccoy, the lawsuit names his friends and recess lounge as defendants. We called and went to mccoys Attorneys Office but he was not able for comment. 5 47. A show of support this morning for a School Cafeteria worker who quit over what shes calling lunch shaming. Her name is stacey. She said she had to take a hot lunch away from an elementary School Student because his parents owed more than 25 for Previous School lunches. This happened in cans onburg near pittsburgh last week. The cafeteria worker says the policy proved too painful for her to enforce. He was like, oh, chicken. His little eyes welled up with tears. It was heartbreaking for me. The School District says its trying to deal with a backlog of families who owe tens of thousands of dollars. We asked you what you think about this policy. Heres what some of you posted.
