Police are on the hunt for a man wanted in a carjacking and kidnapping. He left a major clue behind. Nbc 10s katy zachry is has been following the investigation. Shes live in south philadelphia. Katy, what happened . Reporter tracy, there were a lot of twists and turns to what happened this morning in south philadelphia. Fortunately, police were there to witness most of it. And they believe they know who theyre looking for. They say the man who was driving this black mustang is a former prison inmate. They say this because they found whats believed to be his prison i. D. In the car that he stole. Now, initially police pulled over that car because he was driving erratically. When officers walked up to it, he took off. They followed in their patrol car, only to see the guy crash the mustang several blocks away. He then carjacked a nearby vehicle who had people in it. The officers couldnt stop it because they were too far away. They saw him force the braver and a passenger out of the car and then he drove off. However, two women were in the back seat of that car. The suspect eventually pulled over and ran away. Police are still looking for him. Now there will be additional charges of kidnapping. After carjacking the vehicle he took off with two females in the back seat. Reporter now, police have not released the name of that former prison inmate who theyre looking for but they say hes stands about 58. Last seen wearing a white shirt and he has dred locs. The four people who are victims are at south detectives being questioned. They have positively i. D. d the perpetrator in their carjacking as the same person pictured in that prison i. D. As soon as the Police Release the name of the man theyre looking for well bring it to you. Earlier this week we told you about crimes near drexel. Since saturday, someone broke into five homes in powelltown village, taking electronics, backpacks and jewelry. Drexel students rent those homes. Last night police made an arrest. A jewelry heist caught on camera and we have the video. Surveillance cameras captured these two burglars breaking into trent jewelers, hamilton, mercer county. They hit up the display cases swiping thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. Anyone with information is asked to call police. A local restaurant is holding a fundraiser.
