We continue to follow breaking news from northeast philadelphia. A hitandrun driver killed a man standing at a bus stop overnight and then ran away from the crash scene. Katy zachry is live at the scene with more. Katy, tell us what police are telling you what happened. According to witnesses who were shocked by what they saw when the driver hit the bus stop and the man standing underneath, his car came to a stop, he got out of the car, went over to the victim, actually looked over him, and then ran away. Now look at this video look at this damage out here at the scene. Just how startling it is. The point of impact was at the intersection of cottman and bustleton avenues. The bus stop and the victim were thrown 100 feet, according to police. You can see where that landed well away from the intersection. The car that hit them is still in the intersection, on scene. Look at all of this front and side damage. Police believe the driver was injured, too. Heres video we got from the scene not long after this happened. Police say the man driving this 2003 lexus sedan crossed over cottman avenue after midnight when he veered on to the sidewalk, slammed into a septa bus canopy throwing the canopy and the man standing underneath about 100 feet. The man died at the scene. Police say the suspect wo rho r away after the crash may be injured, too. We did find some blood on the driver air bag and in the driver compartment. We believe the operator of the vehicle sustained injuries. Reporter thanks to witnesses, police tell us they have a slight description on who their driver is. The quick thinking of a Camden County teen may have stopped a burglar and saved his life. The 15yearold called 911 in a whisper from his home.
