Happening today, Wilmington City Council will review the citys efforts in fighting crime. The council has been meeting quarterly to review the recommendations of the state Crime Commission and the progress the Police Department is making in meeting those goals. They include fully staffing the Police Department, accurately tracking crime, and improving relationships with other agencies. The city council is encouraging residents to participate to hear what police are doing to reduce Violent Crime and how they can help with those efforts. Septa faces a federal lawsuit filed by a man who says the Transit Agency breaks the law when performing background checks on job applicants. The lawsuit claims septa is illegally disqualifying applicants who have unrelated felony convictions. The suit also claims septa violated their fair credit reporting act but not clearly disclosing to applicants it was obtaining their credit information.
