Rain has stopped falling but only for now. Heres a live look at the wet weather still ahead for late this morning and into this afternoon. We are surveying the conditions along the roads across our area right now. Stormforce 10 is driving through abington township. We have you covered with everything you need to know, just after 4 30. This is nbc 10 news today. Im tracy davidson. Today is a first alert weather day because of the ice and fog now and then the rain moving in later today. Lets get you updated an all of it gi, meteorologist bill henley with his first alert forecast. Morning, bill. Morning, tracy. We saw that allday rainfall change over to sleet and freezing rain. What is on the ground will stay put in parts of the area that are cold enough. The temperatures have been dropping overnight in some areas, others have been warming up. An icy morning in some areas will quickly disappear. As warm air pushes in, its creating dense fog this morning. That warm air coming ahead of heavy rain, a flood threat for later this morning and into this afternoon. There we go. Drying out this morning but the wet weather is to the west, that will swing into the area during the day. The cold mainly in pennsylvania. Were seeing temperatures warm up in wilmington. Just went from 33 degrees to 36 in just the last few minutes, while its already in the 50s in millville, its right at freezing for long horn and croydon is 33. It will be a quick warmup. It will take some time for the grounded to warm up. Expect to take some icy spots right now if youre headed out the door. By 6 00, 51 degrees. Well be climbing through the 50s in spite of rain coming in that will be heavy at times. Its those steady winds out of the south southeast which will lead to a big warmup during the day today. Well go through the forecast hour by hour with futurecast when i come back. Jessica boyington is watching the ice covered roads. We are taking a look at our camera right here over top of where the schuylkill expressway comes right in line with the vine street expressway. These cars right in here are headed westbound. Thats to head to the schuylkill expressway westbound or 30th street station. We still have that same shine of wet roadway on the schuylkill expressway and vine right now. No traffic or backups because of it. I actually take this route in the morning when i head to the studio. Actually didnt really come upon many slippery, icy spots but it was all a big slushy mix. Getting off and on the off ramps was a big thing. Its definitely something to watch outc for, even if the temperatures arent cold enough for it to be a frozen commute. The walk to your car could be a challenge, too may we suggest a penguin walk. Mattequk delucia is live in mal. This area also briefly lost power just to add to it. About 30 minutes ago you saw us, we were in pretty much total darkness. Within the past 30 minutes, the power did return at this wawa. There was power for most of the area around here. We have seen spotty outages throughout the morning. Peco dealing with 8,000 customers without power throughout our area this morning. Definitely a situation to deal with on that front. You also have to deal with driving. Take a look at video within the past 30 minutes where we did see what it looked like out here with the power outs, no one could really get any gas, any coffee, nothing of that sort. Definitely some sad folks out here trying to start their morning and couldnt because of the loss of power. Well come back out here live right now. This is what weve been talking about in terms of the roads. Ice out there on the roads. You do have to be careful. Especially those untreated surfaces. Most of the highways we didnt see too much of an issue, 76, 95, 202 not looking too bad. We did see disabled vehicles on the side of the road. The grassy surfaces covered in a coat of ice there, on top of the snow. It is a little bit difficult if youll be walking out to your car on the grass, through your sidewalk. The walkway to your driveway. Just be careful. We have seen a lot of large vehicles out here, especially plow truck, salt trucks making their way through this area, trying to get all the roads ready for you as you head out this morning. Well keep checking on the conditions, talk with the drivers who are november gating this. One of the big issues were seeing is the fog. You have ice, the fog and cold weather. An autopsy could shed light on how a woman found in a recycling bin in allentown died. Police are trying to identify her. Shes asian, in her late teens or 20s, a silver necklace and pink nail polish. Investigators say there was no obvious cause of death. She was definitely well dressed, however, she wasnt dressed for the weather. There was no jacket or no coat or so forth. She did not climb into this container herself. Allentown police are asking anyone with information to come forward. Police in delaware are being trained to save lives in a different way today. At Philadelphia International its in the 40s. Northeast philadelphia is 34 degrees with winds light there. Thats going to change. Look at the freezing mark. Doylestown just below it. Blue bell already 41 degrees while lafayette is 34. Below freezing, youll find ice in the collegeville area. Icy spots in pottstown and gilbertsville as the temperatures have not warmed up just yet. Warmer air is coming and the other thing the warm air is doing, its pushing over colder ground. So its creating fog as it rushes into the area. Thick fog for coatesville, lancaster, quakertown and allentown. A foggy start there. It is dry. At least to start with this morning. That changes by later this morning when rain returns to the area. The texas judge who decided no autopsy was needed said she spoke with scalias doctor the day he was found dead. She claims the doctor told her the 79yearold justice had a history of heart trouble and high blood pressure. Scalia died of apparent Natural Causes in his room at a remote texas ranch on saturday morning. A Supreme Court spokeswoman cannot immediately confirm that the doctor had examined scalia. Turning now to the fight over the future of the Supreme Court following scalias death, president obama started preliminary talks with his team to name a replacement. But its not clear how long the process will take. Senate Majority Leader Mitch Mcconnell said he wont consider a nomination until the next president takes office. Now to decision c2016. So far, there are not. That doesnt mean we want you to go really fast. The roadways and majors are slippery and slushy and icy conditions as well that will be the same story for the bridges. You can see on thec ben frankl bridge, no problems, everything moving along nicely. But we do have the pedestrian walkway closed this morning. Because of icy spots there. Nine minutes before 5 00. The rain has stopped. The freezing rain has ended but theres still a lot of slush and icing on the ground, as the temperatures in some areas are still below freezing. Not everybody has that. Look at the warmup, Philadelphia International. 48 degrees. The gusty winds are kicking in and thats pushing warm air into the area and well see a major warmup this morning ahead of the next round of wet weather. While its 48 at the airport, just above freezing by a couple degrees in wilmington, youll find some icy, slushy mix on the roads in northern delaware and into new jersey. Wrightstown, toms river not a problem. North and west it is. The temperatures are climbing quickly. Its still 34 degrees at Logan Township in gloucester county. You can see icy spots there. Harrison township is up close to 10 degrees since we went on the air at 4 00. Its 51 degrees in mullica hill. Those gusty winds bringing in the warm air. Even though we done the have any sunshine right now, theres ice and slush on the ground. Were seeing a major warmup this morning. Winds gusting to 21 miles an hour in philadelphia. It is dry for now. Look to the west. The same storm that brought us the snow, the sleet, the freezing rain yesterday is going to swing back through the area. You can see rain and snow but its only going to be rain as it moves through the area during the day today. Unfortunately a potential for heavy rain at noontime. Look at the heavy rain pushing into the area. It will continue into the early afternoon hours at 2 00 this afternoon. But by later this afternoon, for the evening commute, it will quickly clear out. Watch out for some flooded roads. We could see anywhere from half an inch to close to two inches of rain coming through this afternoon. Your hour by hour, what to t hiladelphia. By 9 00, into the 50s. 53 degrees with some light rain and then a potential at 11 45 into the noontime hour of some heavy downpours. But thats going to help wash away any of the ice and slash thats on the ground with temperatures in the 50s. It will all be washing away. Heavy rain is on the way, gusty winds, were already feeling them. Look at the afternoon temperatures, upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Wouldnt it be nice to have temperatures like that without the wet weather. The weekend forecast is what you watch the to see. Theres a chance of an early shower on saturday. Well be drying out and near 60 degrees, saturday afternoon. A little bit breezy on saturday. The wind will settle down and another mild one for sunday, this time dry with a high of 56 degrees.
