Were actually looking at cameras from the schuylkill expressway now. This is right on top of the on ramp to the vine street expressway. You see the schuylkill. Drive time okay but no access to the vine because its closed between the schuylkill and broad street for the ongoing construction. You see the police activity. Signs on the off ramp. Traffic moving behind that. So for the next half hour the vine street expressway will be closed. Also watch out for this construction on the 42 freeway northbound between 295 and 76. Thats closed and detoured. Also lane restrictions on the southbound side but traffic still allowed to move through. Drive times great there as well. Some line painting on 202, the right lane is closed until 5 00 a. M. As well. Ill come back with the check on mass transit when i come back in the next ten minutes. New from overnight a wouldbe robber is shot dead after police say he forced his way into a home in philadelphias lawncrest neighborhood. Now investigators are turning attention to the people who live there. Katy zachry is live at the scene to sort out the details. Reporter behind me you can see that philadelphia police, they are still out here though the crime scene van has left after it spent several hours investigating this deadly shooting. Investigators tell us a man armed with a gun walked into this home on the 6100 block of reed street and announced a robbery. This happened just before midnight. Police say once the man was inside the homeowner shot him in the neck and the back. The intruder then collapsed and died on the floor. Investigators say they got here to look into this deadly shooting but what they found inside looks to be marijuana, and this. Theres also several hundred dollars right next to this alleged marijuana, and we also found some packaging material next to the green weedlike substance. Reporter and to that end police are looking into the fact that this Home Invasion may have been motivated by the drugs and the money found inside. Now to our Delaware Bureau jurors will continue deliberations in the trial of a Dover Police Officer accused of breaking a suspects jaw. The jury has been discussing the case of officer Thomas Webster since friday. This dash cam video shows him kicking dickerson during an arrest. Webster testified that he intended to kick him in the upper body, not his head and that he feared for his safety. Prosecutors say webster acted recklessly and used excessive force. In northeast philadelphia two students are facing aggravated Assault Charges after allegedly beating up a teacher. According to police two male students held the teacher brian swift while another hit him multiple times. We spoke with swift. He has a concussion, swollen jaw and bruised ribs. It allegedly started because swift threatened to call police after a student began to question and harass a female student and rummage through her bag for a cell phone. The district has hired a climate manager as they call it who will arrive to help enforce new rules. One other teacher tells us despite all that happens things appear to be getting better. They are enforcing stricter rules about kids getting to class on time, a stricter, doing hall sweeps and really making sure things start to change. And it shows. The student facing the students facing charges are 16 and 17 years old. They could potentially be expelled from school. The Pennsylvania Senate has a plan that could lead to attorney general Kathleen Kane being removed from office. Yesterday in harrisburg lawmakers proposed scheduling a hearing on january 12th, the hearing would focus on whether kane could perform her duties with a suspended law license. Lawmakers would then issue a report two weeks later. Kane is facing charges of leaking secret grand jury material and lying about it under oath. The trial of a top aide to kane is set to resume. Patrick reese is the attorney generals driver and body guard. Hes accused of illegally looking through computer files to keep tabs on that criminal investigation of his boss. His lawyer said that reese was not aware of a court order protecting the files. Today a plan to put a football stadium near temples campus will be in the spotlight. The university will meet to discuss whether to move forward with that plan. Heres a live look now at lincoln financial field where the owls currently play home games. The new plan calls for a 35,000 street, 100 million stadium in north philly. The temple president calls it the next logical step. Some in the area are not in agreement. There are clouds to the west but they should pass through the area dry, probably fizzle by the time they get here. The really only chance of seeing some wet weather coming in this week will come early thursday, theres a chance well see scattered showers pushing across delaware and into south jersey, thats first thing thursday morning. Back in our area, hunters in new jersey are preparing for a second day of bear hunting. 216 bears were killed on the first day of the states weeklong hunt. It began yesterday of course. Wildlife officials said they sold a Record Number of permits this year. Several dozen protesters yelled at hunters on the first day of the hunt. They say they are helping the public by controlling the black bear population and that Scientists Say its grown too large. Wildlife officials hope to see about 700 bears kill independent the hunt. The results are in from yesterdays emergency sirens test from the limerick station in montgomery county. Plant officials call it a success. 165 sirens and a 10mile radius were tested. As lawmakers continue to debate the budget philadelphia Public Schools are fighting to stay open. Local nominees at the awards ceremony included teachers from lehigh, delaware and berks counties. Foxwell will now represent pennsylvania in the National Teacher of the year competition. The secretary of education says foxwells students tell the committee she is someone who makes them feel important. Former eagles receiver irving fryar and his mother will have to pay back hundredings of thousands for roles 18 mortgage fraud scheme. The report says a judge ordered the pair to make restitution, in august a jury convicted fryer and his mother of conspiracy. He is serving a 5year prison sentence, his mother three years probation. Fryar played 17 seasons in the nfl including three with the eagles. Another former nfl receiver admitted to not paying his taxes in mercer county. He faces up to five years probation after reaching a plea deal on tax evasion charges, he also will have to pay back tens of thousands of dollars. His sentencing is set for february.
