Happening today School FundingTakes Center Stage in harrisburg. There is a new plan on the table to change how schools get their money. That change would mean tax changes for you. Katy zachry is live in the Digital Operations Center with more. Big tax changes for people. The call is for no more School Property tax. A lot of taxpayers like the sound of that there is a catch i should warn. The plan authored by senator david arguele calls for a rise in the personal income tax rate. It would jump nearly 1. 5 . The plan would increase state sales tax on many items. The increases i laid out, however, would end the collection of School Property taxes for millions of households and businesses beginning next july. Except in cases of school debt. School property tax would still be collected for school debt. There are a lot of layers to this new plan. Im sifting through all of them before todays vote. They started just before 6 30 last night. Two houses have a lot of damage as you can see. No one was hurt. Fire crews are investigating the cause. Happening today police in Montgomery County are cracking down on drivers who are not wearing their seat belts. The Upper Merion Township PoliceDepartment One of hundreds participating in the thanksgiving click it or ticket program. Half of the enforcement time to make sure drivers are wearing seat belts. According to penn dot data, 383 People Killed in Car Accidents last year were not wearing seat belts. The debate over refugees continues across the country. A Southwest Airlines flight was forced to change course and land in kansas city after several passengers were allegedly acting suspiciously. At least four people were escorted from the back of the plane. All passengers had to get off while police searched the plane and the luggage. No one was arrested.
