Several people marched on north broad street up to temple universitys campus. About 500 Peaceful Protesters demonstrated on the university of pennsylvania. Some were chanting not our president. Philadelphia police tell us no one there was arrested. And people were protesting in at least 13 major cities yesterday including here in philadelphia. Demonstrations were mostly peaceful. 13 people were arrested for blocking one of the areas busiest freeways there. The talks will talk about president trumps white house. We have more from washington. The president elect is spending most of the day in washington d. C. In an extraordinary moment many thought would never happen donald trump meets to talk tran sis. I think what these two recognize is its about governing and leading the nation and the world. One of two Police Officers who were ambushed early this morning has died and the gunman is still on the loose. Officers were shot responding to a domestic report in canonsburg. It is about 18 to 20 miles south of pittsburgh. The surviving officer is in the hospital right now. Police say the teenager was heading home and someone started shooting at him. His family was inside sleeping when the shooting happened. Police investigating a Home Invasion at the north philadelphia house. The Department Tells us students were at the home near jefferson streets overnight when the invasion happened. They were in and out quick lichlt ly. No one was hurt. Funeral services are underway for harold harriston. We are live where family, friends and fellow firefighters are saying their goodbyes, pam. Reporter we have been talking to some of the firefighters as they came in this morning for their services. There is a huge sense of pride here for all he was able to do for this department and this city. A final farewell, philadelphia firefighters and police lined the road leading up to new Covenant Church where they remembered harold harriston. He was a fantastic man. He was a no nonsense type of man. He was very even keeled throughout the department. The 40 year veterans firefighters served 12 years as commissioner. He was the very first African American in the city to do so and achievement that brought about a sense of pride within the ranks. It put a face on the fact that i could be. Before retiring in 2004 harriston was named fire chief of the year. Fire official of the year by the National Fire and Burglar Alarm association. The changes he implemented are evidenced today. We made sure that equipment and training was paramount. He wanted to make sure every firefighters came home at the end of the day. Outside the department he worked with businesses to make sure every family had a working smoke alarm in their home. A smoke alarm has installed smoke alarm in thousands, hundreds of thousands of homes throughout this city. The Program Remains in place today providing safety and security to the people of this city. He dedicated his entire life to serve and protect. I should mention the current fire commissioner as well as mayor are inside right now paying their respects with the family, his life and legacy are being celebrated here today. A big gala going on but i want to talk about autism. 50 years ago what did we know about autism at that time . It is a great question. Autism at that time was very widely unstudied. We didnt know much about it. Obviously now given this point in time we have seen a significant rise so we have much better information on the subject of autism. I have friends as most everybody does, can you explain how the teaching of childrens autism evolved over that span all that time . I think one of the biggest advances is being able to do research. We learned routine approach and applied behavior is with individuals with autism and its a very individualized process. We need to treat them as the unique individual that they are. We need to create dynamic programming and problem solving to address the issue that is will be most important for that individual throughout the rest of their life. Are those some of the things that make the school so unique or is it a combination of the kind of staff you have there . Obviously the staff is really the school. The staff and students come together. What we do on a daily basis is amazing. I have the benefit of working with some of the greatest people. The people who choose this type of work, they really come from the heart. They do this for the desire. We dont do it for the glory of the job. I cant give them enough credit. Demonstrators burning flags and vandalizing cars. In San Diego Police struggling to keep control. So we got all together to let people know and to wake up and tell them how we feel about this. Police did catch him and they eventually arrested him. A private school is doing Something Different when it comes to lunchtime. Its probably not what youre used to eating between classes. Matt delucia went to find out why parents say its worth it. School kids should be eating good, quality, tasty food. To the point where he doesnt even have an inhouse lunch program. All of this food comes from the outside after parents called in a caterer. Its something we never expected to get involved in. We see value for us as a company and we also see great value for schools. Jill was approached by parents earlier this year. They wanted healthy lunches for their kids and someone to make them. I think we are very lucky we can make it work. We are serving organic barbecue tofu and we also have what that that muffins that we made. Kids and health food can also we did put kale on pizza. It was sort of hit and miss. Right now only one in five students at the school is signed up. Then theres the cost. Each meal is roughly six dollars compare today half that of many other school lunch programs. In the case of quality of food you get to a great degree what you pay for.
