A Wild Police Chase plays out in Southern California and this one with deadly consequences. Details as police were in hot pursuit of a stolen car through miles of traffic and busy highways. Spring is almost here and so is baseball season and little leaguers across our area are getting set for the first pitch and Many Organizations are in desperate need of equipment for future baseball stars who just want to play ball. Philadelphias classic rock 102. 9 wmgk is teaming up with two former philly stars and the areas of Mercedes Robertson stephens dealers to get kids and leagues the bats, the ball and the clubs they need to succeed along with former phillies pitcher who is on the broadcast team, the postgame broadcast. Let me start with you, john. Tell us what this collection is all about and why youre involved. It started a couple of weeks ago when baseball season started and im driving in and here is the first phillies game and spring training and i thought about being a kid and being in that situation where you have kids and you lose the ball and the games over. Exactly. The problem is its still going on today and there were so many kids who want to play sports and they get down there and theyre still sharing equipment and every kid wants his own glove. Whats better than a brokenin glove . How many people have stuff just laying around the house . My sons 31. Hes not coming back for that glove, you know . So why not find somebody that it could work for and a listener suggested this group pitch in for baseball that collects as theyve been doing for nine years now and theyve collected over 500,000 pieces of equipment over the years and tons of teams, not only here in pennsylvania, across the nation, every state in the country. Tommy, let me ask you. How do you see this campaign helping kids . Personally, from where i come from, having somebody thats providing gloves and equipment and i know there are some kids and stuff in the leagues that i play with didnt have that type of thing and we were sharing like he was saying and when they approached me, what a better way to get the word out and say lets try to help these kids and turn them on to the game more. How do the listeners help . You have all of the equipment around and the Mercedes Robertson stephens dealers and drop off the equipment right there and if you are a league because a lot of leagues at the end of the season and they dispose their equipment and they just hand it out to anyone and if youre a league and you can drop off the equipment and the league that drops off the most will get tommy or Darren Dalton to be there at their home opener. Dutch. Bubba. Glad hes getting healthier. Tony dancea here. I remember you back in 1999 and this guy will run in off camera and tony i remember you throwing a nohitter back in 1991. Was that the first year in the phillies . No. I was with him in 90 and thats right. Got the opportunity to stick my foot in the door and got a chance to start and didnt let it close and the youth leagues and stuff. You have fun and dont let it close and the great 93 season and it would be the best year. Were still recovering from that year. Were still here in philadelphia. How do you see the phillies and were excited because theyre off to a great start. Im excited with the youth, and they needed to make the move and they have a lot of talent in that organization now. Now youre seeing the competition in spring training and some of the guys especially in the starting rotation and some of the guys starting to vie for the spot to be on the team and the competition brings out the good in people and im excited for them a little bit and i like the clang in his voice when they do the broadcast. Investigators say the dad walked into this 49 stop food market at 49th and walnut, but he left his child strapped into a car seat inside the car and his keys were in the ignition. Investigators say someone jumped into the drivers seat and sped off. That unknown thief, according to investigators then let the child out miles away at 66 west penn in germantown, a neighborhood. Police also say somehow the dad received a call letting him know where his child was dropped off. Investigators are hoping the thief and missing vehicle were captured by surveillance cameras here outside the store. In the meantime, the missing car is described as a white town and country minivan.
