We are going to take a second here and just listen in. Very quickly to the operating room and two went to ct scan from there to icu. Thats the way we usually handle because you want those trauma beds ready when the next victims come. Like mentioned before, i think mobilization of resources was the toughest challenge, as well as keeping clear lines of communication. To answer your question, any time a trauma activation goes off, we generally mobilize all of our units, services involved, our er, anesthesia and trauma surgery. Those doctors come in and report. For this particular day, because we had reports of so many victims, we had to extend those things outside of our trauma base our department is made out of multiple pods and you have to appreciate the incredible work that took place to mobilize those resources. So existing patients in those beds needed to be moved upstairs. Room had to be made. You had to al locate for all the resources you have, ventilators, blood products, iv fluids, to make sure you had enough on hand to take care of whatever came through those doors. That was the biggest challenge. Again, as we were receiving multiple reports of different numbers, that was the fear, you know, that we would run out of sun place or resources, but thankfully, we didnt. A situation like this everybody just jumps into action and its go mode, but watching you and hearing you all speak up here today, it seems like theres Something Different about this. You seem almost emotional talking about what happened in the er that day. Can you speak to whether there was a difference in this case than other trauma incidents you worked on . Sure. Um, i think part of it is usually, um, youre working on a shift and so when youre off duty, you get a call, thats unexpected. To see something of this magnitude is unexpected to have it occur in our county is unexpected. You cant quantify loss of life, whether it be terrorism attack or, you know, a car accident or Something Like that. But, yeah, its it sort of tests your faith in humanity in some respects, to hear that this happened, but if you are there, if you are on site, if you sort of look into the eyes of the people who are working, they put aside all of their emotions to take care of these six people and thats Something Special and that should restore some faith in humanity. Listening to a News Conference in San Bernardino, california, where those physicians were answering questions about what it was like to be in the hospital in the emergency room the day that the survivors were brought to their care.
