That doesnt look like its going to come together into one giant storm. So, the latest computer models show us just above the freezing mark for much of the night in philadelphia. The snow could start before 11 00 p. M. Butac it certainly looks likely toward the middle of the night and for the morning rush. More on the snow totals coming up. And also, the sevenday forecast. Right now we go back to jim. The city of philadelphia is ready for this storm, ready but running out of money already to handle all of the snow. Lauren mayk is joining us live from norristown where she spoke with penndot how it plans to deal with the roads. Reporter bringing you up to date. They started actually the preparations this morning putting that salty liquid, that brine on the highways. Let me show you what they are doing over the past hour. You can see all of that salt there, we have been seeing trucks coming in here and scooping up loads of that and heading out. They should have enough, they have about 100,000 tons of that salt. They only used about 27,000 tons during the blizzard so they should have quite a bit of that to use. And then tonight, plow trucks are going to head out, staged around the region ready for when that snow starts to come down. This is what the blizzard of 2016 left in south philadelphia two weeks ago. What did it look like . Bad. Bad. I dont know how long it took to get out the street. Reporter now this neighborhood could be in for another dose, this time much smaller. I dont want the snow up to here. That means a lot of work. Reporter across the region salt and brining operations are under way, for a weather event that this time will land in the middle of the week. In philadelphia, last months blizzard was costly, the city has already spent its snow budget for the year. I asked the mayor about that today. How does that affect things for snow Going Forward . You have to get it up. You know you cant i mean, another administration of 5 million we spent 3 or so over that. There is no choice. You cant just let it melt away. Reporter well, jim, were now a couple of hours from this evenings high tide which is expected to cause more flooding on top of what we saw this morning. But the biggest worries are about how high the water will get tomorrow morning. When water spilled out of the bay this morning in west wildwood, debris and belongings ruined by last months noreaster started floating downstream. Were still not finished from the last storm. I have more stuff to come out. The concern is tomorrow. Because the morning high tide is expected to bring the possibility of major coastal flooding to some parts of the jersey shore, more severe than todays high water and the already battered community concrete blocks serve as a temporary barrier where a protective wall was washed away in the january 23rd storm. That should help some. We never expected to have a storm so quickly. Reporter in Long Beach Township flooding fears are coupled with Major Concerns about beach erosion, after last months noreaster washed away protective dunes and left towns in peril, crews used 1,000 truck loads of sand to build a temporary berm. Then wind driven waves this morning took their toll. It eliminate add good onethird of the dune that we pushed up. Reporter more sand is set to be trucked in tomorrow so crews can make emergency repairs yet again. We have one tide left in us if we have two more tides were going to have a problem. Seems like every time we get a bad noreaster the whole end down here gets pretty beat up. Reporter back in west wildwood, a permanent steel wall is expected to be installed along the bay this weekend to replace the one that was destroyed. People in Atlantic City can park cars for free to avoid the flooding and the snow, minutes ago the wave parking garage opened for local residents and guests until wednesday at noon because of the approaching storm. We have another coastal Flood Warning for tonight and tomorrow mornings high tide. All of the counties in new jersey along the shore all of our delaware beaches, coastal Flood Warning is up with high tide happening. Moderate coastal flooding expected so the high tides are between 7 to 8 00 p. M. Tonight and 7 30 to 8 30 tomorrow morning. So here is a look at the high tide times for parts of sussex county, rehoboth beach, lewis, delaware, 8 06 tomorrow morning. This is a look at storm surge that could be in place in these areas, the dark blue about a foot, the lighter blue is about two feet. Cape may county about a foot to two feet in the bays in these areas. With storm surge high tide 7 54, tomorrow morning 8 16. Atlantic city high tide 7 20, tonight and the 7 42 tomorrow morning. Again, keep in mind near ocean city and the back bay we expect storm surge areas to be higher. We know that water rushes in and has nowhere to go. Well be watching this closely. Former eagles star lasean mccoy is under investigation after police say he was involved in a bar fight this weekend with offduty Philadelphia Police officers. They still need to speak with all four of the suspects involved and detectives are also in touch with the d. A. s office today. Police tell us that 2 45 sunday morning surveillance cameras here outside of the recess lounge captured everyone involved being thrown out of the club but so far they dont have footage of the brawl itself. Former eagles star running back lasean mccoy may return to philadelphia for allegedly assaulting two offduty philly cops in the recess nightclub in old city. Drops of blood still visible. I cant come up with any type of argument again over a bottle of champagne that would lead to knee knocking someone to the ground, stomp them and kick them in a brutal way. Reporter police say both officers were hospitalized after an argument over a bottle of champagne, suffering from broken ribs and skull fractures. Police say the injured cops and witnesses have identified the suspects involved but they are still investigating. A judge sentenced Kathryn Knott to 5 to 10 months in prison. Jurors convicted her of simple assault in this 2014 attack. The judge found the daughter of a local police chief threw a punch. A first alert from tonight into wednesday morning, its going to extend the period, periods of snow with low visibility at times. Its not going to be all like this. The heaviest of the snow late tomorrow, tomorrow night. Tomorrow afternoons rush hour is probably going to be more difficult than the morning rush. And we have more coastal flooding. Unfortunately some moderate flooding at least coming tomorrow. 39 degrees right now. The wind is out of the east at 10 miles an hour. And the temperatures are in the upper 30s for the most part. Well above the freezing mark, lows on the warmer side. That snow would have to be coming down pretty hard or the temperatures got to drop significantly for the snow to stick on the main roads. The live radar, nothing much to show but outside of radar range were seeing a buildup especially in virginia there, some snow in pennsylvania, on the lighter side. This is a huge system. I want to show you the last six hours you can see the spin of the whole thing. But the bigger it is the harder it is to get organized. And that is going to be the issue here. Were going to get little pieces of that system coming through. The winter storm warning from philadelphia area down to central delaware and all of south jersey, the coastal Flood Warning till noon tomorrow, the high tide, 7 to 8 tonight, and a higher tide tomorrow morning. 7 30, 8 30, later a it the back bays where we expect moderate to perhaps major coastal flooding at least in some spots. 8 to midnight the light snow starts, and melts. Then midnight to 4 00 a. M. Its mostly light and mostly melts. Maybe north and west some spots untreated surfaces will get increasingly slippery as we get to the morning rush. But its just, again, kind of scattered around and probably not in the big cities where all of the concrete is. During the daytime hours tomorrow mainly melts as well, the suns rays a little stronger this time of the year. Manage to get through those clouds. Despite the thick cloud cover. So we expect 4 to 6 inches from parts of chester county, and into New Castle County. 1 to 3, the southern portion of delaware, extreme southern new jersey, 2 to 4 inches across much of the philadelphia area, and montgomery and bucks couldnt and Mercer County and camden and gloucester counties, delaware county. But there is 4 to 6. Chester and New Castle County you may end up winding the snow total battle by the time its over. And its going to take a while. The snow develops mainly after midnight. 30 degrees in philadelphia, 26 north and west. During the day tomorrow we have periods of snow, most of it melting. Most of the area. High temperatures in the upper 30s, then it just gradually gets colder. Not that cold wednesday but colder thursday, even colder friday. And look how cold it gets over the weekend.
