A witness says the police car tried to drive away, but the gas nozzle was still in the cars tank. So the witness says the gas pump fell over and started the fire. No one was hurt. Were seeing the rain up in the clouds, lower portion of the atmosphere is still too dry, but eventually it will not be too dry because this is a huge area and its moving right at us, so there is no doubt its going to be raining later tonight and for a good bit of tomorrow. Temperatures are in the mid to upper 50s for the most part, 49 degrees in the poconos. We got up to 61 today. And as we go through the night tonight, some light rain starts to come in. After midnight gets heavier in delaware and south jersey, as you can see, earlier in the day. So in delaware and south jersey temperatures near 60 degrees by 8 00 a. M. With some of that heavy rain. In the philadelphia area, just starting to get heavier by about 8 00. Temperatures in the mid 50s and north and west just starting to rain, getting a little bit heavier and, of course, much cooler. M. A 30yearold cold case now solved. Tonight, how police in delaware tracked down a woman in georgia and linked her to a murder decades ago. A break happened in the case 16 years ago, but it took that long to find this woman. Sandra hartzag. Tim furlong explains why. I just had a conversation two weeks ago. Reporter kerry says 30 years later neighbors still wonder if joe brauns killer would ever be found. Kerry lived in the victims house in the years after the murder. Yes, there was a big topic of conversation. Thats not a common thing to happen anywhere. Reporter certainly not there. Definitely not in fairfax. Reporter on a hot day in july of 1985, 54yearold piano teacher was found dead in his home, robbed and killed with a hammer. Everybody was upset over it, sure. Detectives, the police, came to everybodys house, asked them questions. Reporter police found brauns silver honda in philly a week after the crime but his killer was never found. In 1999 two men told police their recently deceased relative was the killer, but police couldnt tie his girlfriend to the crime. Last year they started a cold case unit and say they solved the 30yearold case. Difficult for an agency to put resources into a unit such as a cold case, but heres why you do it, heres the payoff. Reporter last month two cold case detectives discovered sandra arrested in 2001, her fingerprints now in a database. They tracked her to a homeless camp in dalton, georgia, she is now charged with brauns murder. Feels great, to be able to reach out to a Family Member and give closure. Longtime residents tell me joe braun was a bit of a strange guy, teenaged kids would be at his house all hours of the day and night, they had their theories for a motive but police arent saying much. We should learn more. In north willington, tim furlong, nbc 10 news. A man who police say robbed two banks was arrested on the treats of center city today. They say he robbed a bank around 1 30 this afternoon and minutes later police say he robbed a pnc bank a block away. He fled both locations and was found. No Police Officers were injured. Police say two suspects are responsible for robbing two gamblers at two Atlantic City casinos one hour apark. Detectives arrested the two on friday. A woman said two men grabbed her purse and ran out of the hotel and casino thursday night. An hour earlier Surveillance Video shows the duo stealing money from a man at the borgata. No deal. Atlantic city wont get bailed out after all. Today new Jersey Governor Chris Christie vetoed most of a package that would have helped the city. The key bill would have let the remaining eight casinos make payments in place of taxes for 15 years. That way casinos would know exactly how much it owes instead of high increases each year. The one bill he did sign provided extra school aid to Atlantic City. Police need your help to find a crook who preyed on sleeping victims. Its been 12 days since police say this man broke into her Riverfront Village apartment bound and determined to steal a car. He has one gloved hand, one ungloved hand and every time he touches a car is with the gloved hand only. Reporter investigators say what we dont see on video is him breaking and entering into two apartments. Banks never heard a peep. My daughter was home. Shes 10. So anything could have happened. A 30. 7 billion budget deal includes increased Education Funding, expanded School Property tax cuts, as well as a sales tax increase. Earlier we told you that a source close to the governor says state lawmakers want to increase Education Funding by 750 million over a twoyear period.
