Happened. This stark debate and now what comes next is called a vote and all kinds of amendments could be considered and voted on by senators in that none of this could have happened without senator john mccain. He provided the key vote here today. Republicans knew that this was going to be very, very close. It was coming down to the wire and they needed his vote. So he had to e get doctors permission to come here today. You saw there above his eye where he has now a scar from where the incision where the surgery took place to remove a brain tumor. He has now left capitol hill and is going back. He says to focus on that treatment and getting better. But here today on capitol hill, he was key for republicans. Also talking to hem. Hes a voice thats respected here by democrats and republicans. You saw all the well wishes. You heard him joking about that today. That there were so many well wishes he thought maybe people were confusing him for someone else. But i did talk to lawmakers who were glad to have him back here on capitol hill. And now, the question is whether they will listen to his advice. That advice being to work together, not just republicans over here and democrats over there, but republicans and democrats working together in the senate talking about this sort of a wongy part of the senate as well where they have a lot of rules. He wants them to work together. Something as important as health care. The question now whether republicans and democrats will listen to that. But after that, what is the next step in all this . They could vote on a a number of things e we dont even know yet because lawmakers themselves can propose amendment es. We know senator ted cruz already has an amendment out there. That issed to be attached to wub of the bills. But other lawmakers can propose amendments as well. The tricky thing on some of these votes some of them will require 50 votes like the one today. Somethem will require 60 votes to pass. That means the republicans could not do it alone. They would have to have democrats voting with them in order to get something passed. Back to you. With a corruption ruling being used as grounds for the appeal. He was in the courtroom as the chief justice read the description. The ruling overturned mcdonalds corruption conviction establishing that a politicians unofficial acts on behalf of a supporter like setting up a meeting talking to another official or organizing an event without more did not rise to the level of criminal corruption. In order for it to be a criminal act, that public official has to do some official act. Now the Supreme Court precedent is trickling down to the appeal. Herbert is the family friend convicted of offering Financial Support in exchange for political favors. The codefendants already argue the new precedent before the trial judge who was unconvinced it applied in the case writing unlike much of governor mcdonalds activity, he clearly crossed the line beyond mere expression of support for an ambassadorship. But they believe an Appellate Court may see the actions from a more favorable perspective. Only a handful of the charges might be overturned.
